  1. That was funny... Brought a little chuckle to my morning. Glad to see that someone picked up on the dual meaning of that final sentence.
  2. If we do consider trading E-Lo, we better get plenty for him. His productivity vs. his salary is way off the scale. He should be a very valueable commodity.
  3. HSC ... You should be horsewhipped! .... Never ever compare a Cub to Brian Urlacher!
  4. I hope that's the case, but it sounds a lot like what I heard about Joe Borchard when he was drafted. Now the guy is around 25 years old and still can't hit well enough to stay in the bigs.
  5. Taking IRod from them might be the incentive that the Marlins need to swing a deal. Then we could let him walk, and Castillo too, for that matter, and load up on draft picks.
  6. Truer words were never spoken.
  7. I wish the powers that be in MLB would break up these "natural rivalry" series. Why schedule them all at the same time? Every year they show the Sinatra series ("New York, New York") over the Windy City series. There should be no more than 3 or 4 of these series scheduled at a time, and spread them out over the interleague play weekends. That would seem to get baseball the most possible exposure.
  8. For the record, I went and made my one vote ... and it was 58-42 Sox
  9. Jeter's stats have been on about a 4 year decline. I'd really be afraid of that move. I'm thinking if he was anywhere but NY, at this point in his career, he'd just be considered an average SS.
  10. Twas a very pleasant day in Wrigleyville.
  11. A few years ago, the Sox won a game in which they were no-hit. we beat the Yankees in that game, didn't we ? In the mid 90s - final was 4-0 Sox and we didn't have a hit is what I recall. I believe it was 4-0 against the Yanks in 1990. Andy Hawkins pitched for them. Jim Leyritz and somebody else for them butchered fly balls helping the Sox win the game. In fact, I think Ozzie Guillen hit one of those dropped fly balls. Bases were loaded at the time, IIRC.
  12. I really didn't expect this thread to be accessed after that glorious 12-3 Cub-thumping.
  13. I'm with cw and Heather on this one. Carlos has had his bad days, but all in all he's done a decent job this year.
  14. Stoney does have some class. Of course, he learned that when he pitched on the south side.
  15. There probably weren't any Cub fans in Wrigley by that point. But, it's cool that the ESPN guys gave them credit for booing Sammy!
  16. You really seemed to be obsessed with raging on PK and singing the praises of DJ. PK has struggled, yes, but it gets old hearing it all the time. As for Jiminez, he is not nearly as good as you think he is. He had a decent 6 weeks, at the beginning of the year, but his production has been on a steady decline since then.
  17. I would prefer a sweep, but would settle for taking the series.
  18. He should have plenty of time for writing his book, now. Plus a sequel: Being Bubba's b****.
  19. Corg, that was so thoughtful and considerate of you to post that. You are a credit to this board for looking out for the well being of you fellow Sox fans.
  20. You wanna know a guy that threw it all away on drugs? Darryl Strawberry That guy could have been Barry f***ing Bonds and then some....and the dumb son of a b**** liked drugs more then immortality. Well, maybe not that good, but he had hall of fame talent, and he threw it away. Jose Canseco, IMO, could be inducted into the HoF based on his stats alone. As they/I say, stats are only half the story. Canseco has better stats then some HoFers, but is not HoF worthy. It would be a shame if he is voted in. He could have been a HOF'er .... Probably had as much all around talent as Strawberry when he was young. But, he also threw it away.

I like the way Carlos has been playing lately .... 12-3 lead, 8th inning ... and he busts his ass down the line on a routine groundout. We need to see more of that.
  22. I'm hoping that we saw the beginning of the return of the old Mark Buehrle in his last start.
  23. The first time I saw Sosa bat after getting beaned, that was exactly what I thought. He hasn't looked comfortable in there since. All any pitcher has to do is dust him once, and Sammy is meat for the rest of the game.
  24. It would almost have to be Josh Paul. Unless someone (who would it be?) pulls the trigger on a trade.
  25. For him to stop all that stuff .... He'd have to stop hitting home runs. Ummmmm ... Wait! We may have come to the end of this garbage.
