Yes, I remember that game well. Jerry Lumpy or Gates Brown or some slow ass Tiger hit on up the middle that Wayne Causey made a helluva play late in the game to save the no-no. I still remember Jack Brickhouse yelling "Throw it Wayne!" as the play was happening. Good memory. Thanks. BTW, in '59 I wasn't even 2 years old yet, but shortly thereafter, in those early years, I became a Sox fan. As long as I can remember.

Generally, over the years, I haven't seen a hitting coach make much of an impact on the overall production of a major league team. There are exceptions, as some have acquired notoriety (Lau, for example), yet even the "best" have had there detractors. You also get a situation where a hitting can make an impact on 1 or 2 players, as something just clicks between them. But, all and all, hitting coaches come and go and nothing much changes.

One other point I'd like to make. I did not call you anything. I said that on this particular subject, you "come across" in that way. I was very careful to word it like I did so as I would not be calling anyone anything. That being said, it was still a bit on the harsh side and I wish I wouldn't have made that post. I have offered apologies a couple of times already, earlier in the thread. They were/are sincerely offered. I do regret shooting of my mouth as I did.

CWSOX: I have seen your name used on this board many times and don't recall ever seeing you get upset about. My mistake and I humbly aplolgize for making it. It will not happen again, sir. At the time that post was made, I had not seen the play. I have since, and yes, that play should have been made. Not an easy play, going full speed away from the plate, CF and 2B coming at him hard, but still .... Jose should have made the play.

Clemens is/was no traitor. Dan Duqutte, the BoSox GM at the time, thought Clemens was washed up and offered him and insulting contract. The fact that he has been successful in Yankee pinstripes is what galls BoSox fans. A similar situation to the Rocket, that comnes to mind is the White Sox and Robin Venture. The Sox insulted him with a contract offer of about 40% of his market value and he left. When he came back to Comiskey in a Yankee uniform, he got a standing O from the Comiskey faithful. They/we don't consider Ventura a traitor. I think it's unfair to consider the Roket one, also. Then again, I know Cub fans that still consider Maddux a traitor. Laughable, but true.

Killa, you are right. And it's a shame. Pudge was nothing but a class act act in a White sox uniform. He honored the unform by wearing it. And to be treated like he has been is a total disgrace.

Actually, that is a very good point. I was thinking that he'd get acclamated to major league pitching and environment sooner, and therefore, he'd become a better player more quickly.
