When you say that everyone wins 60 and loses 60, etc... You have to remember that the Tigers will probably win just about 60 games. They have to come against someone, and we got 2 against us. However, everyone is panicking because we lost to Maruth and he was 0-9. Well, folks, he's pitched well in several ballgames this year. He was bound to get one sooner or later. I predicted in another thread that this would happen tonight because that kind of stuff just seems to happen to the Sox. Roman .... as far as I'm concerned, you are not a Sox fan. I believe that it will prove to be too soon for Joey B. However, he can hold down CF defensively till we figure out what else we are going to do out there. And, as they say, you never know... big league pitchers may be just good enough to make JB into a big league hitter. It has happened in the past.

I enjoy listening to the old ballplayers tell their stories. That's why so many of them are in the broadcast booth. They not only have the expertise to talk about how the game should be played, they have the "war stories" to enhance it.

This is a total non-issue as far as I'm concerned. The PGA (note that there is no "M" before the "PGA") claim to be the world's best golfers, so what are they afraid of. Saying Annika shouldn't play because there is an LPGA is like saying Jackie Robinson should not have gotten his chance because there was a Negro League. It's pretty damn simple when you look at like that.

Personally, I consider Canada to be a close friend and ally. I also happen to think that Oh! Canada is one of the more beautiful national anthems in existance. I'll always root for the USA in international competitions, but I always pull for Canada unless they are play a USA team.

It's that Billy Beane genius happening again. Actually, Singleton did hit in the .290's for us one year (2000?). Then he injured his wrist and whatever bat speed he had, left him for quite awhile. Maybe, he's getting it back and will end up hitting a respectable .275 for Oakland... maybe.

I've said this before and I'm sure I'll have to say it again. Jose Valentin is a winner. I don't care about his errors, he adds so much more to this team with his overall ability as a baseball player.... range, arm, knowing which base to throw to, being positioned properly in the field, baserunning, on field leader, clubhouse guy... all of it. I want Jose Valentin on this team, and I want him as the starting shortstop.

Carlos has been ripped to shreds for months in here. I just stated that he has picked up game considerably lately, since no one seemed to have notice that the guy has been playing really good baseball. Let him f*** up once, and stand back, because he'll be hammered like he was Jamie Navarro or Todd Ritchie. I was in no way saying that it was a one player win. but, if I want to single out someone for whatever reason, then I'm going to do it. Period.

I like the Steve Finley idea. He would be perfect. Old, but perfect for this team this year. I've always liked Finley since he came up with Baltimore. Maybe he could be worked in with a Kim-Konerko deal.

I'm with HSC. If he can't cut it with the O's, what do we need him for. On the surface, this doesn't look like a bad move. But, there has to be some underlying circumstances here.

I have to admit, I liked the White pick up when it happened. But this guy can't get anyone out. I think we need to cut our loses on this particular pitcher. We have too much young relief talent in the minors to let this continue.
