  1. First of all, this was a GREAT post. I hate the idea of us having to go to war, but this son of a b**** left us with no alternative. Saddam is only interested in his own glory and power. He has been dispicably abusive of his own people, to say nothing of his attempted genocide of the Kurds. Saddam is pure evil and I resent the French, German, Russian, Chinese, Mexican govt's for making the US look bad when we are the ones sending our young people over there to end this madman's regime. It's all politics and money when it SHOULD be a world standing united against this dispicable tyrant.

    Harris/Miles

    I'd like to see that.
  3. Because MJ was contributing nothing. His bat just went south and his defensive play was following. And I agree with this assesment. Mark johnson was a much better defensive catcher then JP will ever be. He never would hit more then .240 though... however he got on base fairly well. The one thing i really liked about MJ though was his the way he handled the pitchers... Plus MJ still has a freaking option left. MJ had a reputation for being a better defensive catcher, but he sure didn't show me anything last year. As cwsox said, his defensive skills were going south.
  4. I'm really only concerned about one stat...... Wins!
  5. From what I've heard about Majewski since I've been coming in here, I'm glad we got him back.
  6. That would be great, but if Crede developes into an above-average solid thirdbaseman, I'll be happy. A righthanded Robin Ventura would be cool.
  7. It is so cool to have Mr. Bullard drop in and straighten us out on what is going on in the minors. Thanks Jim.
  8. I was divided on that deal also. Erstad was exactly the type of player the Sox needed, but I sure hated to give up Garland.
  9. Thanks for taking the time to share all your observations with us, JimH.
  10. I think we can laugh about it because he is OK. I'm sure his accident this winter re-inforced the nickname Crash.
  11. It is really tough to figure out what the Sox are going to do, here. It can go any number of ways.. including a possible trade.
  12. I wouldn't say never, though that is likely the case. However, sometimes a guy is a late bloomer. Look at Miles, stuggled for years in A ball, then last year was MVP of the Southern League and he has damn near made the big club this spring. It may just click for JD at any given time.
  13. I can't help but remember that prior to spring training, so many folks in here where adamant that Rauch should be the number 5 starter, that he "deserved" it. I haven't heard that very much lately. Loiaza deserved it and earned it by outperforming Rauch and the rest of them. And that's how it should be decided.
  14. I like your approach. If I was wriing that essay, that's the way I'd go. LOL
  15. cwsox .... You have every right to respond as you did. If you took the profanity option away from him, he'd be speechless. I'm praying for your son's safe return.

  17. I didn't hear the game but if Miles did that as you say, then gotta love him - you are right about how seldom that play is backed up and that means Miles knows how the game is played, and acts accordingly. That makes me a lot more pro Miles. I didn't listen to the game either. Clujer reported it during his play by play in this thread. It caught my eye and totally impressed me.
  18. Korea, too. Although the UN doesn't officially recognize that as a war; it's still just a police action. Yes, Iraq in '91 and Korea in '50.... and neither war is resolved yet. Let's just keep the damn UN out of it and go do it right this time. And don't come back that Korea was not a war, but a police action... my father is a Korean War vet and it was, when you were on the battlefield, a war in every sense of the word. actually the UN mandate killed any chance of removing saddam..it only gaver authority to push the iraqi army back to its borders..had we gone after saddam other countries would have started pulling their armies out of there and it would haver been a logistical nightmare... the un does good things in regaurd to humanitarian efforts...but when war is needed stay the hell away from there Yes, I'm aware of that. The point I was making was that the UN was involved in two wars, and neither on is settled yet. Technically, the Korean War is not over, yet. Just at a cease fire status.

  20. Thanks guys and gals. We're proud of you. Give 'em hell.
  21. I love it that the American people are standing up and boycotting French products. That is a language that they really understand, as opposed to diplomacy. Really, we should make this one hurt. Boycott them for a solid two years or so.
  22. I don't know, but it is a good problem to have. Garland, Loiaza and Wright have to know that this kid is gonna be just a plane ride away. They are going to have to perform, or we will probably be seeing Mr. Stewart in Chicago.
  23. Boras or not, I can't see JR paying $80 Mil over 6 years ... or whatever crazy numbers .... for Tejada, or anyone.
  24. Just remember, Garland was headed to Anahiem for Erstad prior to last season.
