Commentary: Ten Things to Talk About
I'm pretty sure that's his option for next year. I'll see if I can find it. Witesoxfan, when you get down on someone you don't let up. LOL All I know is when Osuna came in to pitch, I felt reasonably confident that he would do a good job, and most of the time he did.

Baseball Cancells the Opening Day Series In Japan

Tuesday's Game
In the top of the third, Miles was backing up the play where Alomar slipped and threw the ball past Thomas. How many times do you hear of a second baseman actually being where he is supposed to be on that play. I like this kid.

Baseball Cancells the Opening Day Series In Japan
In no way was this a bad decision. How would you like to be over the Pacific ocean when a war breaks out and you know you're going to land in a foriegn country, possible with your wife and kids along. Another reason that this was a good decision by MLB (How many times do you see "good decsion by MLB" in a sentence? ) is because of that rare and fatal strain of pnuemonia that has cropped up on the Asia side of the Pacific Rim. I'd hate to lose half of the AL due to this very contagious disease.

Koch as #5 Starter?
Gossage wanted to be a starter and he b****ed and moaned until he got his shot. He sucked and was more than happy to go back to the bullpen at that point.

Butter
I thought JP was a gutsy little pitcher. He reminded me of "the Little Bulldog", Greg Hibbard. He attitude went south last year but until then, I thought he was ok.
-
Charlotte
An example of what could have made the unpleasant atmosphere in Charltte last year is Jim Parque. He was in Charlotte, b****ing he should be in Chicago, yet he sucked in Charlotte.

A question for NASCAR fans
Hey, I'm not a big NASCAR fan by any means, but I happened to watch the last 10 laps of that race Sunday. What a finish! That was awesome to watch.

Bush Gives Tomorrow As Ultimatum
france backpeddled now and has said they want to give iraq a30 day deadline ...maybe they can work that down to 10 days or so and have everyone on board...getting tough seems to have weaken france's position a little..so we should push it That's exactly what France wants us to do... then at the end of the time period, another veto threat. As I tend to keep saying lately, f*** France!

ILLINI
I agree that Illinois should have been a 3 seed. They went into the tourney on a roll, which is supposed to be one of the criteria used by the SC. That having been said, with the Illini having 3 freshmen in their starting lineup, they have the potential to do a quick el foldo. In fact, they may just have a hard time getting by WKU. They come in on a 12 game winning streak. They also have overcome some adversity early in the year and have proven their resilience. I'm not predicting an upset, but don't think the Illini have a sure ticket to the 2nd round.

joe borchard must make this team imo
If Garland does break out this year, it will be a very special year. I believe he is capable of doing it right now. However, he's got to much upside to give up on him if he doesn't.

Wright Feeling Better
I just hope the Sox don't screw this kid up. Get his arm fixed, let him get healthy and then pitch him. Don't make him pitch, or allow him to pitch, until you are sure his arm is sound.

Catching Solution
I don't know if Miguel is ready or not. I haven't seen him yet. But if he can't handle major laegue pitching at this point, they really need to send him down. And that is for the sake of his developement. I'd rather see him in AAA for a year too long, than have him called up a year too soon. He's got the cannon hanging from his shoulder and I want to see this become a solid major league catcher someday.

I had no problem with Osuna. He did a good job for us last year.

good news on danny wright
Well, the good thing about Loaiza is that we gave up nothing to get him, and we aren't paying him very much, so if he flops after 10 or 11 starts, we won't have lost too much. With Ritchie, we paid him a couple million, and gave up some young arms to get him. With Wells, we paid him a few million (not sure how much). With Esteban, we signed him to a minor league contract, and if he makes the squad -- which it's apparent he will -- we'll pay him about $500K and probably another $500K if he meets the incentive requirements. That's not much of a risk at all IMO. Loaiza was the opening day starter at toronto a =few years back... he needed a change of scenary it was a great signing... I agree. This seems to be a very good move made by... OMG!!! .... KW!

Would you Trade?
The heartbreak of losing those two series would be rough. But having the Sox play like the A's did the past two years would have made for a couple of fun summers at (what was then) Comiskey. We also might have filled the coffers a little bit, and we could have added more to this years team. Add another $10 million worth of talent to the payroll.
-
Player you want the Sox to add?
I'd still like to add Brian Giles. He fits our needs perfectly. I also like that Soriano idea.
-
Sirotka
They've been taking things very slow with Siro. And he wants it that way. He knows if it blows out this time around, he's done. He is supposed to pitch in a simulated game later this week. Sirotka pitched some good ball for us and really was a solid competitor. I wish him well, but hope we bomb his ass if he pitches against us.

arod.. only herniated disc???
I think I've heard that teacher vs. ballplayer/actor argument for the first time back in 1972.

Catcher Situtation
As I stated in another thread, Olivo needs to get his swing down before going north or he should do that in Charlotte. Until then, keep Paul around. He at least knows the pitchers. Burke is a 31 your old minor league journeyman.
-
Today's game
Another impressive outing from Stewart. He's lowered his spring ERA to 3.00
-
2 Catchers only?
If Olivo can't get his stroke down before the end of ST, we need to send him down until he does. That might give us time to find someone to trade JP to, so we don't just lose him on waivers.
-
Does anyone
It would have been nice to add Rogers, just to have another lefty to throw at the Twins. However, I'd be afraid he'd revert back to his 2001 form when he had an ERA of about 6.00. I like our staff as it is.
