  1. You can never have too many good pitchers. We've already got one guy hurting (Wright). Seems to be minor, but at this point who knows?

    SO Bears

I agree. Stewart is the best available QB. Greise is as well thought of by his teammates as McClown was by the Bears. I'd like to see the Bears draft Ragone out of Louisville.
  3. I don't think the US will announce it when and if they get bin Laden. That would just stir up the muslim extremists in the world and get them looking for revenge at every opportunity.
  4. Estrada did, in fact, answer those questions. He said that he stood on the side of the law.

I once made a post about the liberal slant of our media and our institutions of higher education. Sideshow came back with a rant that was so outrageously liberal I knew there was no convincng him, so I just let it go. Later, I find out he is a college student (big surprise, eh?). In this thread he has blasted just about every conservative icon in this country. People who believe in the fabric of America. People who believe that this country has always been based on, and should continue to be based on the fact that there is a supreme being and that He should be freely worshipped by those that choose to do so. I'm sorry sideshow, but you are so far out in left field it's ridiculous.
  6. I don't think he's always been allowed to manage with KW looking over his shoulder, dictating player moves, yelling and screaming and upsetting buffet tables. They way they played May through July of last year, if I was in KW's shoes I'd be throwing some s*** fits too.
  7. in base ball tie goes to the runner so in most cases he will be safe You haven't been listening. There is no such thing as a tie... there is no rule that the tie goes to the runner. He is either safe or out, period.
  8. What Milwaukee does vs. the Twins is irrelevant. What matters is what the White Sox do against the Twins. If we take care of our own business when it needs to be taken care of, we'll be just fine. We can make those games irrelevent if we can stomp the Twinkies all year... but I don't see that happening. They are too good of a team. So, yes, those 6 games the Twins play against the Brewers could be very relevent.
  9. I hope that's not his standard method of operation. His stay in Chicago could be short. Rickey Henderson used to pull that s*** to get traded.
  10. if we could find a way to move lee for beltran..that would be cool..it would have to be a 3 way deal though with us im sure sending other players to kc as well as lee to someone else because no way KC can take on lee's contract... Yes, I'd consider a Lee for Beltran trade to be a decent move.
  11. well we need to make sure that doesnt happen then The way Frank's contract is structured, if he wants to walk, we can't stop him.
  12. I do not remember the numbers, but the Sox offer was only a token offer. In fact, I considered it insulting and didn't blame Ventura a bit for bolting. JR made a comment at the time that Robin didn't put buts in the seats... then he came back as a Yankee and got that tremendous standing O. I really hope JR saw that and realized just how popular a player RV was.
  13. Wright was terrible in ST last year too. I hope this just turns out to be inflammation and nothing more serious. If so, the Wright will be OK once the team comes north.
  14. To have 25+ multi-homer games, he'd have to be Clark Kent.
  15. I'm solidly in the keep Lee camp. We all have opinions and that's mine. Now we'll see how all this plays out this season.

    DA BULLS

From time to time, you are beginning to see flashes of what Chandler and Curry can be. Let's hope they start happening more consistantly.
  17. It would be good to get this settled so all of us fans can stop worrying about it.
  18. Know why? They are -- until we (or someone else) proves otherwise. They handed our ass to us last year, and they definitely had -- and still have -- the swagger that we had in 2000. I firmly believe that we have a more talented team, but until we play as a team, we'll continue to eat their dust. If Frank, Mags, Konerko, and Lee go 0-16 in a game, Miguel Olivo and D'Angelo Jimenez need to step up and get some clutch hits, and our pitchers are going to have to be lights out. We can't have the 7 or 8 game stretches where we win 1 or 2 games. We need to be consistent and have multiple people step up at different times in the season, and our bullpen will have to make the 1 and 2 run leads stand. Basically, all the things the Twins did last year is what we have to do in 2003 in order to win the AL Central (and obviously more if we want to still be playing in late October). That post of yours nails it. I couldn't have said it better.

    Dave Wells

Hmmmm ... I wonder if Tyson Chandler wants to pitch this summer.
  20. Clayton will get back at us because Milwaukee won't be able to beat the Twins with Clayton hitting .185 for them.
  21. We are keeping Lee because he will be our DH in '04 after Big Frank walks.

    Roster Cuts

They way I see it is that the Sox will go north with 11 pitchers. Then there are 11 position players who will definitely be on the team barring trade or injury. Those are Olivo, Alomar, Thomas, Konerko, Jiminez, Valentin, Crede, Graffinino, Lee, Rowand, and Ordonez. That leaves 3 spots to be filled from this group: Paul, Harris, Daubach, Rios and possibly Miles or Borchard. Taking into consideration that Rowand and Graffy are unproven health wise at this point, you almost have to have Harris make the club. JM said the it will very hard for Daubach not to make the team, so you have to figure he'll go north. I think they'll keep Rios and try and send Paul throuh waivers and back to AAA.
  23. Regardless of who the Twins throw out there... the Sox have to beat them head to head. Those games are just too big not to take the season series from them.
  24. That is exactly the way I feel about Carlos Lee. I think he is going to be a tremendous hitter.
  25. JM is not doing a bad job as manager. Not great, but acceptable, considering the injuries in 2001 and having a starting staff with an ineffective Todd Ritchie and inexperienced Jon Garland and Danny Wright. Taking that into consideration, a .500 season last year was fairly impressive.
