this is an omen that 2003 is CLee's gold glove year! Well..all kidding aside, he did make a very nice diving catch the other day on the WGN vs. the Cubs. He knows what he's doing out there sometimes. Lee is definately improving. The guys been working his butt off and I think we'll see great things out of him this year. It's time. If he doesn't break out this year, it won't happen.

If they would gaurantee about $4 million of that fourth year, then kick it up to $6.5 if he pitches that 200 innings, and if MB would allow the team that 5th year option, this might be doable. I think they are so close that they need to work things out.

I really don't see the wildcard coming from the AL Central. Our division is the weakest division, I either see the Sox succeding or the Twins succeeding this season, not both of them. And I see that you put us as playing against the wildcard Twins, which would mean we would have the best record. That might be a little TOO much wishful thinking there, though it might be very possible. Our division being the weakest is precisely why I think the wildcard will come from the AL Central. Both the Sox and Twins can pile up wins against the "little three" of KC, the Tribe and the Motor City Kitties.

All that was gauranteed was the 11.5 for 3 years. The rest was incentive or option based. The free agency year spin was unfortunate, but I don't see where this was an unreasonable offer. MB and the Sox agreed to the first 3 years. The fourth year gauranteed at 6.5 million if MB pitched 200 innings is an attempt to protect the team from having to pay MB if he becomes Mike Sirotka.
