  1. It's a shame we wasted a first round draft pick on him.... or was it a 2nd rounder? Thanks for the play by play, clu... much appreciated.
  2. I seem to recall MJ having some pretty pathetic stats in the throwing out runners attempting to steal dept. last season. Though, I could be mistaken on that. I'm too lazy to look it up.
  3. Cubkilla has got this situation nailed, imho. Frank Thomas is, more than likely, in his last year on the south side. Carlos Lee will probably be the 2004 DH. However much time it takes for JB to get ready, give him that time. He'll be worth it in the long run. We may ruin him by bringing him up too soon. While he is maturing, it gives Rowand the pportunity to prove tha he can be a solid every day major leaguer, which I believe he can do. That, my friends, would increase his trade value if that is the way the team decides to go when JB is ready. As of right now, we don't need to trade any of our big guns.
  4. A few points here. First, what is all this I keepseeing about Josh Paul playing all these postions? I've seen this several times, and yet I have not heard anything about this from the media or the club. I can see the Sox keeping Paul as the back up, if they feel Olivo needs more seasoning. They could then use him as a backup until they feel Olivo is ready, then trade JP. That way they wouldn't lose him to the waiver wire. Also, if the team does keep Olivo on the roster, I can see him starting 2 to 3 games a week and being used as a late inning defensive replacement for Alomar when the team has a lead. Finally, why is losing Johnson such a bad thing? He was no better than JP, yet everyone wants to dump him.
  5. lol....... i worry because this is the same thing they did when sirotka went down... mumms the word.. mri.. yadda yadda yadda.. and we all know too well what happed there huh...........i dont believe it till i see it..... and thus far they have been too quite about the whole thing.. not that they have to talk about it constantly but... a little chatter wouldnt hurt......... I agree. The Sox have a history of playing down the severity of an injury. Plus, Wright was going to stop throwing for 5 days. It's been since March 4th. You figure it out. Now, assuming the MRI they took is accurate, and the team is telling the whole story, then we should not be too concerned. But, those are both big "ifs".
  6. That's really a no-brainer. If the pitching doesn't hold up, we won't win. That's not exactly quantum physics.

Translation: We know he sucks, but the fact that he has proven he sucks, excites us.
  8. I just don't think Chuck Finley would be worth the draft pick we would lose. He really didn't do much for Cleveland at all.
  9. you position on gun control makes no sense...you are the biggest conspiracy theory believer ive ever met..everything the gopvernment does is evil and against the betterment of its population..with an attitude like that how in the hell could you be for gun control??....if your correct and most of our political leaders are either sell outs , zealots , whatever then how in the hell could you be for the government going door to door to take everyone's guns away..therefore leaving the only people in america with guns is the group you are so sure of is behind all these conspiracies???..dont you think w/o an armed populace they will come and take even more of your freedoms??? as far as the 2nd amendment goes...when it was written the only well trained militias were men (and probably some well trained women as well , right HSC ) from eachcity town and rural areas..there was no national gaurd...everyone member of the community was expected to take up arms against any enemy "foriegn or domestic "....you can not take guns away from the individual and be able to fight a domestic enemy....the forefathers were protecting us against our elected leaders should they go off the deep end... Well said, Baggs.

Maybe not Baggs. Kordell only signed a two year deal. That may be exactly the scenario that makes the Bears consider that option.

If you can't have high hopes in ST, what's the point?
  12. you know..piazza could pass for a terrorist..he has that dark kind of look...anmd he just walked in the clubhouse w/o being stopped...wonder if ecans is thinking a terrorist could do the same thing????..come to think of it..piazza probably was in a terrorist state of mind And it appears Mota was terrorized enough to run away. You have a good point here, Baggs.
  13. Apparently, that's not quite accurate. MB kind of thought he was going to open the season, but JM never said anything directly. MB had to go to JM to get a definitive answer so he would know what to say to the press in the event he was asked about it. JM should have informed MB when he told Colon. Not cool on JM's part.
  14. I don't think either Visquel or Mesa will still be around in '05. They're too old. Someone is gonna have to change teams for this matchup to happen. Selig should force that to happen "in the interests of the game".
  15. Stick a fork in him. He's done. My point was that KW tried that with Heredia. I doubt, that at this point in time, there's much out there except pitchers that have already been cut from someone else's camp.
  16. Wright just may break camp in the pen this year, if he hasn't built his pitch count up enough. He wouldn't be there very long, but its possible he could start out the year in there.
  17. I went with Stewart as well.....thw way Heredia talked after the game it looks as if the handwriting is already on the wall....he was making comments like..."I'll possibly have one more start, if it works out, it works out. But I'm not going to beg and dwell." He then joked he might start throwing a knuckleball. "I can still smile about all this," he said....doesn't sound like a guy with a whole lot of confidence about his chances... Rauch? here's his comments after his subpar performance: "I threw horrible," he said. "I couldn't locate. I kept walking guys. It's frustrating." ...my guess is he's a lock for AAA... Therefore, its Wright or Stewart or ????....maybe a KW pickup if he finds a guy cheap/desperate enough for a job.... Isn't that an accurate description of Heredia?
  18. I agree. When Kelly has been completely healthy, he was pretty damn good. And even last year, a 3.41 ERA is nothing to sneeze at. Seeing the breakdown of righty vs lefty batters, I was surprised to see righties only hit .268 against him. That's not great, but I thought it would have been higher.
  19. Based on how they've pitched in ST, I went with Stewart
  20. It's because of those stupid 10-10-220 commercials with Hulk Hogan and Alf!
  21. Now that you mention it, I'd put Garland between Stewart and Buehrle.
  22. J Borchard CWS 10 35 5 7 2 1 2 8 17 0 0 0 0 0 .486 .200 J Crede CWS 10 33 5 7 1 0 3 4 17 0 0 0 0 0 .515 .212 W Harris CWS 10 33 6 6 2 0 0 1 8 1 0 0 0 0 .242 .182 OUCH! Is Hummel still in camp? He's hitting .300 to Jiminez's .240 .... I wonder if he even has a shot to win that 2B job?
  23. It's way too early for that kind of speculation.
  24. Stewart looked good yesterday. At least we have some hope. Things with Danny Wright aren't looking good at all, knowing how the Sox have downplayed injuries in the past. Buehrle, Colon, Garland, Loaiza, Stewart? Certainly not how we pictured it a month ago.
