I hope Floyd's improvement lately hasn't been a mirage that we trust and get burned on in 2008. But it's nice to see him doing well, either way.

The video really isn't funny, but the "Mike Hass" rap that is the first 2 minutes and 30 seconds of it is hysterical. MIKE HASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) Nope, Im just gonna call you a liar Fair enough, but the people need to know that women are just as perverted as men, if not more. I'm glad I made the decision I did though, I think it saved me a lot of trouble.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) Which brings up a question. Anyone else on here ever convinced a girl to video tape it? I had to convince a girl OUT of videotaping it once. Now some may call me crazy/a prude/both, but I didn't miss out on any fun by taking that stand, and NOTHING but bad can happen by taping it unless your famous and looking for publicity. Blackmail is a you know what.

Double D speaks: http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs....70326/1129/News Basically told them the same thing he told me Saturday in the student section. He got ambushed by reporters as he left though, denied he was even Double D so he could get out of there. I'm glad to see he admits and understands the way he did this was pretty lame, but I still can't wait to see him play for NIU next year. -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) northern illinois gets SF tyler storm from genese, Illinois. 3rd verbal in 3 months, our new coach Ricardo Patton is doing a great job on the recruiting trail. Storm is a perfect fit for his system, is a consensus 3 star national recruit, and had an offer from DePaul, so this is pretty big news for us. He's from Geneseo, not genese btw . -
#500 as a walk off, is this a first??

Off topic, but the "he's a hall of famer, but not first ballot" thing you hear in sports is the dumbest of dumb arguments. Why is a player a hall of famer, but not on the first ballot? Do his numbers and resume magically become different his 2nd and 3rd time on the ballot and so on? Makes zero sense to me, a player is a hall of famer or isn't, simple as that. -
That fan is OUTSTANDING. Could not have handeled it any better, maybe it's karma that such a good guy hit his milestone homer in dramatic fashion and another seemingly really good guy got the ball and gave it right back, even donating the season tickets to Jim's charity.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 08:28 AM) And if you look a little closer, it's about how Thome won't make the Hall, at least according to Rob Neyer........ That's just silly. Assuming Thome stays even modestly healthy next year, he's going to end the 2008 season with over 2,000 career hits. He has a .971 OPS, tied for 16th all time and ahead of guys like A-Rod, Mel Ott, Ty Cobb, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr., Gary Sheffield, Mike Schmidt, and Frank Robinson. His career .562 slugging is 17th all time, ahead of Frank Thomas, Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Ken Griffey Jr., Ralph Kiner, Hack Wilson, and Frank Robinson. He has a career OBP of .408, one of only 40 men ever to have such a high rate of reaching base for his teams. His .281 career average, for a pure power hitter who strikes out a lot, is pretty extraordinarily good. He hit his 500th home run yesterday in his 2,000th career game (how cool is that?) So he will finish his career with over 2,000 games played and about a home run every 4 games played. By around Memorial Day of next season, Jim will have over 7,000 career at bats, over 1,500 walks, and over 8,500 plate appearances. He was the 4th fastest to 500 home runs of all time, and is 4th all time in home runs per at bat. He will almost assuredly finish his career with over 400 doubles (368 right now). His 1,451 walks is 20th all time, and by the time he retires he'll be much higher on that list, even if he only plays another year or two. Oh, and he along with A-Rod, Griffey, and Frank (well and soon to be Manny Ramirez, probably in 2008) are the CLEAN guys to hit 500 plus home runs in the era of the cheats. And he's not done yet, as everybody knows, just one or two more good seasons can climb you WAY up the list once you get to 500 home runs, and he is capable. Oh, and he didn't DH nearly as much as everybody seems to think he did, I mean he did play for the freaking Phillies in his mid/late 30's. YOU GET THE POINT. The man is a damn hall of famer, no question. Anybody who says otherwise simply doesn't have a clue of what they speak. -

Patrick Manelly vs. Bryan Pittman
whitesoxfan101 replied to juddling's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Apparently that site doesn't have word that Chuck Norris only cries after being hit in the face by a Patrick Mannelly long snap. Bryan Pittman isn't even close. -
Not sure why the Patriots needed to blatently cheat with this much talent, at all, just makes it more confusing. But damn they are good, and damn the San Diego offense has major issues.

And before all the meatheads spew it..... Game 1: Thomas Jones: 14 carries, 42 yards, 3.0 average, 12 longest run 1 catch, 6 yards Cedric Benson: 19 carries, 42 yards, 2.2 average, 11 longest run 1 catch, 11 yards Game 2: Thomas Jones: 24 carries, 67 yards, 2.8 average, 9 longest run 2 catches, 20 yards Cedric Benson: 24 carries, 101 yards, 4.2 average, 13 longest run 1 catch, 9 yards Thomas Jones is not that good, and in fact he's a piss poor blocker that today missed blocks on 3 of the 4 Baltimore sacks. The problem is that early on last season, Grossman was really good throwing the ball which made us look a lot better, and once he regressed to his real (bad) self, the running back then got going. We need to put Wolfe in on 3rd down/blitz spots since he can actually block, and we need SOMEBODY to do something at quarterback, or this is a 9-7/10-6 team that won't last long in January, even with the defense because people are going to start putting 8 in the box.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) It's embarrassing. I really thought it was unfair how much s*** Rex took, and some of me still does, but he can't be out there anymore. If you didn't have another option, fine. But you have a very capable back QB. The problem is he never has or will show improvement. You can teach mechanics, you can't teach somebody how to not be stupid, and Rex has a BAD BAD case of being stupid. Hester, lol. He's awesome.
-
This defense is just ridiculous......too bad we have no shot at going anywhere with this QB.
-
Wow, the flea flicker TD called back on an illegal shift foul, Bears get lucky. EDIT: And it leads to a blocked field goal, costs KC 7 points. That might be the killer. DOUBLE EDIT: Mumammad is AWFUL. TRIPLE EDIT: Rex is AWFUL. Pick #2, and KC has it at the Bears 25.
-
There it is again, Peterson WHIFFS on a blitz pick up. PUT WOLFE IN ON 3RD DOWN, HE CAN BLOCK.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) 70 minutes into the Bears season, and there have been 5 different times Grossman has hit the deck/been rushed because the running back (Benson once, Peterson 4 TIMES!) failed to recognize the blitz pickup. Everybody can make fun of Wolfe all they want, but I can tell you right now that if he's in on 3rd down, he'll at least block the guy blitzing. I don't know if he can be an NFL running back or not, but he can block 10 times better than the 2 guys ahead of him in his sleep, and at least protect Rex.
-
The most dramatic 500th home run ever, by far. WALK OFF ARE YOU KIDDING ME. What a great way for a great guy to get such a milestone, congrats to Jim!!
-
Either way, congrats to Thome. What a moment, especially for a guy who "isn't clutch".

The kid that plays QB for Richards is phenominal. I believe his name is Tommie Thomas, but anyways he basically beat an outstanding Lemont team by himself last night. -

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) I agree that Weis should be taking a lot more heat, but he has done better than Willingham. Weis already has 2 BCS bowls on his resume while Willingham didn't have any, and Weis's recruiting has been much better. But if you think that one's skin color has nothing to do with it, you're kidding yourself. Rivals says Weis is recruiting a lot better, but he did a lot better his first 2 years with Tyrone's players on the field than he is this year with his players out there. Oh, and yeah he has 2 BCS Bowls on his resume, but I take that with a grain of salt since they don't get into either one of them if they aren't Notre Dame, and they proved they didn't belong in either game by getting their ass kicked both times. -

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) Because this was somewhat expected. This senior class is a Willingham recruiting class and unfortunately for Notre Dame, it was an awful class. Weis has come in right away and he is bringing in top 10 recruiting classes. While no one could of predicted the struggles ND has had thus far, help is certainly on the way with these past 2 classes and the one coming in next year is looking stupendous. Something really needs to be done with the line though, it is pathetic. I didn't hear you b****ing about Willingham's classes when Weis rode them to BCS Bowls the last couple of years. Face it, ND sucks and until they find a QB and some offensive linemen, combined with the fact it will take them awhile to transfer to the 3-4 defense and that schedule, ND is in line to be bad for a few years now. If Weis didn't have the NFL pedigree or white skin, he'd be suffering the same fate as Willingham unfairly did. Oh, and yes Pat Fitzgerald is an awful, awful coach. Worst in game coach I have ever seen in college football. -

Well this years NIU team is going to go about 3-9, but we'll have Demetrius Jones and almost the rest of the team (only 9 seniors), so my senior year could be fun next year at least. And the Illini doing what they should do is nice to see, and lol, Northern Iowa now has the best basketball AND football team in it's state. Outstanding. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) He would be eligible next year if he left Notre Dame before 12 class days had been completed. I am not sure when ND started classes, but I am guessing he just made it. At least I read this.... not 100% on it's accuracy, but it seems believable. The 12 day rule is accurate, but I think the 12 days would be in regards to NIU since he's coming here. I can tell you that our 12th academic day was on Wednesday the 12th, and I was told he got here either Monday or Tuesday, so it sure as hell sounds like he'll be eligible to play next year. Either way, it's all but 100 percent he's an NIU QB now, and that's big news and exciting for us. As I check their site map (ND), they don't get labor day off like we did, but ND started classes a day later than us (Tuesday the 28th to our Monday the 27th), so if the 12 day rule applies to ND the 12th day is still Wednesday the 12th.
