  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) There were major leaguers due up this inning. Doesn't stop us from putting other people from the bullpen into the game.
  2. I haven't decided if Thome or Fields will hit the walk off, but one of them is going to.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) BTW, two of those "changeups" (the first and third) were curveballs. Meh, I was vaguely looking, lol. His stuff was still sharp though.
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) No true White Sox fan wants the team to lose. No Sox fan sits there during the game, hoping we lose, but the postgame "well at least we get a better draft pick" talks after a loss don't bother me (I hope that made sense to everybody else as much as it did in my head). And after a 9th inning like that, it's only fitting we get extra innings. lol. Hopefully Broadway stays in, and if he does, i'll post his velocity from gameday.
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) If it's accurate, then his future may be in the bullpen. I'd like to see him sustain the velocity over several appearances. The velocity is for sure accurate, but I don't think he can sustain it. Adrenaline was a big factor IMO, he was throwing 90-91 all year at Charlotte. He has downward movement in all his pitches though, which is a plus.
  6. That Erstad hit doesn't bother me, any idiot could see that's an easy flyout if not for the wild pitch moving everybody (including Hunter) way in.
  7. I can't decide if I want us to get Lance his first MLB win or see him pitch another inning right now, but either way, this might be the strangest 9th inning I've ever seen.
  8. Flash, you got quiet since I posted those velocities from gameday on Broadway? Would you be happier if I lied and told you he was throwing 86 to 88? LOL, ground rule double, tie game. I thought that was out of here actually, you got to be kidding me.
  9. Been a long time since I've seen both teams bat around in the same 9th inning, but it's going to happen tonight.
  10. Broadway debut, as seen from mlb.com gameday: Was adrenaline for his first appearance a factor in his velocity? I'd say yes, based on what I've seen of him in his Charlotte starts I've watched, but still not bad.
  11. For those of you like Flash who think Lance has Heath-esque stuff, straight from MLB gameday: Broadway to Buscher: 92 fastball, called strike 92 fastball, ball 81 changeup, groundout to picher Broadway to Heintz: 92 fastball, ball 93 fastball, called strike 85 changeup, ball 94 fastball, called strike 85 changeup, foul tip, (strikeout)
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) I can only assume the purpose would have been to hide his velocity. Although I also understand if anyone is interested in Broadway they'll have scouts on hand with their own radar guns. If not, what else could possibly explain consistent radar showing ALL night expect for Broadway? Am I supposed to believe the person responsible took a bathroom break and there's nothing more to it? I recall last season how, mysteriously, certain Freddy Garcia starts didn't have a radar gun available either. Every fastball was 92 to 94 according to MLB gameday, which is very accurate, and his changeup was about 84. Happy, now go find those aliens that killed JFK.
  13. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) Maybe he thought they were bringing in Phillips again. So ........ what was your first impression of Broadway. His stuff looking much more crisp than I ever saw at Charlotte, and gameday on MLB had him at 92 to 94, with an 84 changeup to strike out the 2nd batter. Maybe it was just adrenaline, but the pitches he threw looked good.
  14. So I got home just as the 9th inning started.....good timing eh? What a pair of awful teams, and the best part of this is how Hawk and the Pink Furry Bunny will applaud our effort to come back and say how we haven't quit on Ozzie.
  15. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) I think it will be a decent, quick game. The spread was 16.5 last I looked on Yahoo, so I've got Navy with the 16.5 points. I'm expecting something like 31-21 with a lot of rushing yards. Ooops. When will people realize last year Rutgers wasn't a fluke, and they are just that good? Ah well, I'll ride bets like Rutgers -16.5 vs. Navy until they do.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) Therefore they shouldn't try? That's a load of cowardly crap. If you make a real effort and getting right on top of the bleeding edge, you can get 99% of the offenders. That would be a heck of a lot better than pointing to 1%, saying "see we can't get them all", and just not even making a decent effort. MLB is simply too afraid of a possible strike and/or too many big name players being found guilty to swing the big hammer here. In the long run they'd be better off to go for it right now, but just like many other businesses in the U.S., MLB refuses to think long term. Oh don't get me wrong, they SHOULD try to catch these guys, and the fact they aren't is a joke. My point is, don't hold your breath waiting for a cleaned up game, becuase even if baseball has up to the second testing policies, cheating will continue, and usually not get caught.
  17. Navy visits Rutgers tonight, and when you consider Navy had to battle in the 4th quarter to beat Temple last week, I get the sense they might be in some deep poo poo this evening.
  18. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) The players have stayed ahead of the curve. Until baseball adopts the Olympic drug testing policy, performance enhancing drugs will always be a problem. Unfortunately, I don't ever see Fehr and the MLBPA allowing such a policy, and I doubt you'll ever see the game completely clean. Even if they wanted to, they couldn't catch up. The cheaters are always one step ahead of the people trying to stop them, including in this case.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) Wow, everything I've posted in this thread has just been completely wrong. No more information from me unless I'm 100 percent sure. I've made myself look like a moron. Nah, don't worry about it. The Darius Miller thing was close, but Webster was the guy recruting him for Illinois, so once Webster went to Kentucky, obviously Miller was going with him. And nobody knew Webster was going to leave, so yeah. And as for Bertrand....ALL the SIU fans jumped the gun on that one. There were all wrong from the start, but you weren't alone there either.
  20. Ankiel movie=not anymore. But again, if he keeps the Cubs out of the playoffs, at least some good comes out of this sad twist.
  21. I can at least UNDERSTAND why he did it, as he was desperate to get back to the big leagues. However, he's a douche and a bum just like all the other cheaters, what a shame, so much for that movie. BUT hey, if he helps keep the Cubs out of the playoffs, at least some good comes of this sad part of the story.
  22. Cincinnati looked REALLY good, going to 2-0 as they dominated a pretty decent Oregon State team 34-3 in Cincy and holding the stud RB Bernard to 30 yards on 16 carries. But getting to the fun stuff, Louisville and Middle Tennessee State was 38-35.....at the half. Louisville eventually pulled away to win 58-42, and this game had glorious stats all over. Louisville: 725 total yards, Brohm 25 of 40 for 397 yards and 4 TD's (0 picks), 328 rush yards overall, including 34 for 275 (school record rushing game) and 2 TD's from 232 pound RB Anthony Allen (do they have a 230 pound min. weight for Louisville RB's?) Middle Tennessee State: "Only" 559 yards and 42 points, with 9.2 yards per rush. Tanner had 9 for 144 rushing and 3 TD's, McNair had 7 for 72 rushing and a TD. Overall: Louisville had 3 different guys with 100 yards plus receiving, and MTSU had 2 guys with between 87 and 92. There were 3 total punts, and 6 individual plays of at least 50 yards from scrimmage. 100 combined points. Louisville vs. West Virginia shall be fun.
  23. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) I think the Saints are going to get rocked... they are so f-ing overrated, like the Panthers last season. Good call, Colts looked great last night and the Saints get a message as to how hard it will be to work that horseshoe up the ass thing like they did last year. Also, the Colts are SO much better on defense with Hayden and Jackson at CB instead of David and Harper, big time addition by subtraction. Plus, Joseph Addai >>> Addai and Rhodes platoon.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 05:39 PM) Movie not move. Ankiel. I'm an idiot. Yes. As for the movie, put it on hold.......Ankiel isn't a fluke IMO. He won't continue to hit like this, but he has a ton of power and can play decent defense, he might play for quite a while.
