QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) Goes along with my OU LSU National Championship game. Those two teams are ridiculously good. I agree about OU, but somebody will get LSU in conference play (I've seen many better SEC teams get beat). I think Penn State has a real good shot at a trip to the title game to be honest, they have the senior QB, talent and depth all over, and a very favorable schedule, as they'll be favored big every road game and have all their tough games in Happy Valley.

As we learned last year, 4 turnovers is unacceptable, but as we didn't learn much last year, none of them were Rex's fault. Let's face it, the defense played about as well as you can expect, but if you have them on the field all game you'll give up some points to a team as outstanding as San Diego. The reason we lost today was the running game was unacceptable, and San Diego's 3-4 and deep defense made our offensive line look like what it is: old and lacking any sort of depth. There were a lot of good things today, but unless our line can run block and at least make Rex's favorite setup (play action) a threat, there are problems. It's just the season opener though, they should be ok, I doubt we have many 4 fumble, 3 fumble lost games in the future.

Novak needs to retire, he's a f***ing awful coach and turned a game being dominated by a still bad NIU team into a loss. We might go 2-10 or 3-9 this season in a terrible MAC West, I wish he'd retire already.

Ohio State may have only won 20-2 today, but their defense did the following to Akron: The Zips had 71 total yards (71 pass, 0 rush), 14 punts*, 12 three and outs, 3 first downs, and the only points were the safety provided by the defense. Ohio State though only had the 20 points and 5 turnovers, so the offense is a work in progress.

Henne out for the day. It isn't a long term injury they say, but Mallet will be playing the entire 2nd half. Interesting to see how he does.

Man, and I thought Gonzalez was bad at 3rd......he is Brooks Robinson compared to Cintron.

September 8th: Chicago vs. Minnesota
This guy announcing the game, Dan McLaughlin who is normally the Cardinals TV guy when Buck isn't around, is actually pretty good. Anyways, it's 5-5 in the 4th and we have bases loaded 2 outs for Cintron. EDIT: 5-5 heading to the 5th now.

Michigan has had the ball 6 times in Oregon territory. They have 307 yards of total offense at halftime. Mike Hart has 123 yards rushing on 21 attempts. And they are STILL down 32-7 at the half, amazing.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Hart needs more carries. Him or Manningham needs the ball on every play. Doesn't matter with this defense, they'll have to score 60.

Michigan does have an impressive 244 total yards already, yet only have scored 7 points. Meanwhile, Oregon has 329 yards of total offense and 25 points with 3:41 still left in the 2nd quarter. And this Dennis Dixon boy at QB is sick, can run, can pass, can run a perfect fake statue of liberty (which i've never seen)....wow.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) Anybody know how to tie a knuse? Don't you mean noose? Michigan has been in Oregon territory 5 times today and has 7 points. I wish Lloyd Carr would get a lifetime contract, such an awesome coach.

The biggest comeback in White Sox history
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) I thought he got hit in the head with a breaking ball. I could be wrong on that though. Yeah he did, it was definitely not on purpose. Still sweet revenge though.

The biggest comeback in White Sox history
World Series game 3 is so far and away the best one, down 5-0 on the road to Roy Oswalt in the World Series, only to win in 14 innings. But the 8-0 one against Kerry Wood after he hit Paulie in the head is a close 2nd.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) I love bunts that work. Yeah, successful bunt hits are kind of like successful strategies by President Bush: they are so rare, low percentage, and shocking, that you can't help but smile.

The Cubs starting rotation: Zambrano hasn't won since July Lilly got his first win in 5 weeks the other day Rich Hill, who continued his return to earth tonight Jason Marquis Steve Trachsel I know the playoffs are a large crapshoot basically, but that isn't going to beat anybody.

Broadway/Phillips Called up too
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) If AAA stats aren't gospel, why should I even care about him retiring Brian Bucher and Chris Heintz? Couldn't he have done that in Charlotte? I've seen players just as bad hitting the ball hard off our MLB bullpen for months now.

Broadway/Phillips Called up too
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) He was 2nd in AAA in walks. And the man you predicted would be so awesome for us, David Aardsma, ended up with 17 saves for the mighty Knights. What's your point? It's triple a stats, they aren't exactly gospel.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Navy lost by 17 and their QB threw two interceptions in the endzone and another one later on. Rutgers also kept Ray Rice in the game with 2 minutes to go to finally go up 17. If Schiano had any class or Navy's QB had his head on straight it would have been an easy cover, meanwhile they missed it by .5. The bolded is wrong, Rice staying in made it 24, and Navy went and scored in a minute 30 on the Rutgers backups to make the final score look closer at 17, but nice try. And Navy ALWAYS has terrible QB's, hence they run the option and lose anytime they play a real team.

Broadway/Phillips Called up too
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) The two batters Broadway retired entered the game with a combined 22 career major league hits. Doesn't change the fact his stuff looked pretty decent. Don't, you know, accidentally say anything positive about him though.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) There were major leaguers due up this inning. Doesn't stop us from putting other people from the bullpen into the game.
