The Ohio State backcourt, as I've seen in the half a dozen or so tOSU games I've seen, plays NO defense. Even in the weak Big 10, that will lose them some games. They are nasty inside though, they hung right with the Florida beasts for the most part, but the backcourt play was a clubbing.

Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 07:14 AM) Maybe before you open your mouth you should check out these past 2 recruiting classes and check out the speed Weis is getting on the defensive side of the ball. I wouldn't count on seeing much of it on defense, but you are right about the speed improvements. Problem is, most of them will be used on offense since that is what Weis does.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) David Lee is actually turning into a very nice double / double machine. If Isiah would actually just play the kids (Nate, Lee, Frye, Balkman, Curry), in a couple of years the Knicks would actually probably be pretty good. Agreed, except on Balkman........I don't see much in him, but that's JMO. And the Suns 15 game winning streak is OVA....they lose in OT to the Wiz as Gilbert scores 54.

Iverson was really good in his debut, 22 points on efficient shooting from the field, and had 10 dimes. But he was only 2 of 6 from the line, which is all out bizarre for him, and the undermanned Nuggets lose a close home one to Sac-Town. And the Bulls were beaten at New York. 56 to 35 on the glass, umm enough said. *vomits*

Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 10:32 AM) Is this statement directed at Notre Dame? Because if it is you are a fool, I will take a top 3 class and winning more than 2 games a year. And just so you know, Harrison Smith who is annoucing today has been considered an ND lean and as is Chris Donald. Both reign from Tennesee and that would make a clean sweep for ND of their big three. Lets just remember, Zook also has to coach these recruits. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that Wilson can kiss the chance at a BCS bowl every year away. Weis>>>Zook Well that extended rant was pretty pointless. The fact that the waddler can't beat a 2-10 team for any recruits is almost as frightening as Illinois will be with all these players. Oh, and enjoy your slow bad defenses, since that's all you'll see as long as Weis is there. Anybody with talent will be playing for his offense.

What kind of town is Chicago?
1985 parade: 500 k (well actually, it was in 1986, but whatever) 2005 parade (for the "inferior" team in town): 2 million Baseball wins, and it's not as close as many think. The Bears draw the "common" (idiot) fan pretty well, but baseball is king here.

Sox Sign Bukvich, others
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 12:48 AM) http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/minors/news/263044.html I'd heard of Bukvich before, and Smith as well, so there. Bukvich pitched in quite a few games out of the Royals pen a few years ago, IIRC. He also has local roots (Naperville) and has the last name closest to looking like mine in baseball, so hooray. I don't know who the hell Sean Smith is though.

That Sampson offensive system is just as pathetic as ever, but they played some really good d to get a win. No idea how they got to 60 points though without running any plays.

I was at the game in prime seats, and here's what I saw: #1. Ricky Manning Jr. had a bad game, and is a nickel back (I wouldn't play Vasher again until the playoffs, he HAS to be healthy) but Danieal Manning was FAR worse. He took 2 of the worst angles I've ever seen on the Galloway and Hillard TD's, and both of those plays are ended at about the 25 yard line if he hadn't been so dumb. #2. Rex looked really good against an adequate defense, which is a good sign. #3. Thomas Jones should not start, period. Cedric Benson is so much better it's not even funny, and he blocks just as well. #4. The injuries are hurting the team moreso in terms of depth than pass rush. The pass rush wasn't as good, forcing some blitzes that made the depleted secondary vulnerable, but the depth was killer because the d line was dead tired in the 4th and that was part of the collapse. The injuries SHOULD kill this team on defense (along with Rex still being wildly inconsistent), but since it's the pathetic NFC and the Bears have a bye and homefield, they have a great shot anyways. We'll see, but for that game to be that crazy against Tampa Bay, maybe the worst team in football, is terrifying. Oh, and the "catch" by Davis to set up the game winning FG clearly hit the ground. So we won on an incomplete pass, yay.

ARod to retire after 2010 season???
I wouldn't blame him. He'll have over 600 homers probably, be a hall of famer, still somewhat young, and have made about 300 million dollars in his career.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) Marion Barber. Didn't play well tonight, especially defensively, but the offense and Romo bounced back well, and it was a good comeback win. It's scary that Barber was the 2nd best back on his COLLEGE team. I wonder if he'll ever take Julius' job. Your defense is a concern though, they didn't look too good again.

Police raid Tank Johnson's Home
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) If this was a movie, I would suspect Tank and friends for wanting to get rid of the number 1 trouble maker in his life. THE ONLY reason I don't think he did it is that this would be WAY WAY too obvious. Thought did cross my mind though.

Huge brawl in the Nuggets blowout of the Knicks in New York. 10 ejections, and Carmelo Anthony landed a solid right cross on Mardy Collins, who started it all with a flagrant 2 foul on J.R. Smith. It was pretty ugly. And the Bulls get a very nice OT win at Atlanta.

Other than Smith and Haluska, Iowa is amazingly awful. Oh, and nice wins for each inner city Horizon team as UIC defeats MAC favorites and 6-1 Akron, and Loyola defeats Northern Iowa. DePaul also won at Rhode Island. Oh, and how bout them Zags?? They played Gonzaga style defense today, I will give them that..... QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) McDermott should have never left the Valley. Based on how it's gone the last few years, the Valley is a better hoops league than the Big 12.

Bulls with a huge game tonight. Get a win tonight, and it's an east road win (they are at Atlanta) and then the Bulls have 4 days off in the next 5 days (only game is at home vs. the Lakers who don't have Odom) to get rested up.

Tank, your boy with all his drugs is now dead (by the gun), your lucky your not dead.....take the warning and get out of this life before your not here anymore. Get your s*** together personally, please. It's beyond football now.
