QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) i'd be happy with that. he'd be a good addition i think. what do you think of bocot? just saw some video of him on mid-state hoops and he's an intriguing athlete. the questions seem to surround his attitude more than his ability. Farrakhan has a little more polished game and a WAY better attitude than Bocot (Farrakhan is just a great kid by all I've been told and heard). Farrakhan and his family also love Illinois, he has an offer on the table, and he says he is going to sign with whoever he chooses before this period ends. I'd say it's more likely than not he signs in the next week. As for Bocot.....his attitude makes me too nervous, and his game is good, but not any better than Farrakhan IMO.

Don't be surprised if Farakhan signs with the Illini before the early signing period ends next week.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) It's over: Maryland, FSU, and ND got Zooked. Yeah. Now i'm hoping he brings Marvin Austin with him, although I think he'll end up at FSU based on what has been said in the last week.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) If i heard right, it was outside his apartment building shortly after practice. Looks like someone was really looking for him, perhaps. Yeah, he was getting home shortly after his girlfriend had got there when it happened. My friend that goes to school down there says it happened in what is known as a very good neighborhood, so there is almost no way this was a random act of violence/robbery gone bad. -

Harbaugh? Doesn't he coach at some 1 AA school, and it's his first head job? Is he qualified? -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) I'd find a way to acquire Channing Frye. He doesn't seem to be getting a ton of minutes and he could be the final piece to the puzzle, imo. Curry is playing pretty darn well in Isiah's system. Curry is playing well, but we'll see how long he can keep his ass in shape and actually give a damn. As for Frye.....he's Loren Woods with a 15 foot jumper. No thanks. -
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) 6:30 eastern time at the espnzone in baltimore. *fingers crossed* Weird that he denied their was going to be a presser Thursday just 2 days ago. Anyways, if he doesn't choose Illinois, I think everybody, even the school he chooses in that senario, would be shocked. Nice to see him make it official though.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Did you go? or watch it on ESPN 2 There was an entire portion of the game that the announcers just talked about the rest of college football because they couldn't see the action on the field from the press box thanks to the fog. I'm a student, so yeah I was there. I was surprised they kept playing, I was in the 4th row at the 30 yard line in the student section and I could BARELY (even with my 20/15 vision) see the other sideline. And I couldn't see the clock or scoreboard in the near endzone either. I am not nearly old enough to remember the fog bowl, but I would imagine it was like that. -

NIU lost an Iowa State style game tonight, now I know how Heads feels. Season over, since now our bowl chances died. I hate our stupid ass offense and offensive coaches. -
Thomas WILL get hurt if he has to play 1st base. No doubt, ESPECIALLY with all that foul ground in Oakland.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) Thabo is head and shoulders a more talented player than Duhon IMO. Oh well of course. I'm just saying I hope Thabo quickly proves he can run the point on offense, because if he does, Thabo will play a lot and Duhon will get Jannero Pargo circa 2005 minutes, which improves this team. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) The Mavs need to start winning so that the Knicks can have the worst record in basketball. Yeah, how the hell does anybody, let alone Dallas, lose at home to the WARRIORS?? That's awful. Oh, and Utah won again, against Detroit no less, to move to 4-0. If Kirilenko and Boozer can stay healthy (yeah, I know a big if), they could be pretty damn good. -

QUOTE(soxsr08 @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) So does anyone believe the Celtics can pull it off against ESL? I for one do. I suppose they COULD, but I wouldn't count on it. ESL beat an Edwardsville team that is a lot better than Providence, on the road, last game, and this one is all the way down in ESL. ESL's speed is going to give Providence nightmares as well, and ESL's lineplay is disciplined enough to get a few stops. However, that side of the bracket is very intriguing. The style clashes in both games with St. Rita and Morgan Park as well as ESL and Providence will be fun to see. Combine that with Boylan, who still isn't getting enough credit, against Lake Zurich and Prospect hosting a team that just shocked Libertyville, and 7A is the most intriguing bracket left IMO. -

Bulls actually looked like they are supposed to tonight. Sefolosha got quite a few minutes as well, good to see that. He NEEDS to prove he can play the point, because Chris Duhon really needs to just go away. -

#1. The Pats averaged 4.5 a carry. You don't abandon that when your only down 7 like the Pats did in the 4th quarter of the game. #2. You win by attacking the other teams weakness in the NFL. Yes the Pats have Brady, but they also have a couple damn good running backs. Usually, they are good at adjusting to defeat the other teams weakest link, but they didn't do it tonight. -

35 passes, 32 runs 4 picks, 1 fumble lost Now obviously, the 5 turnover game is why NE lost, they beat themselves too as 3 of the turnovers were just unforced errors, but Belichick did a bad job tonight too. There is no excuse to throw it 35 times and only run it 32 against that Indy defense, which high schools could run against. Nice job tonight by Manning though, as usual he is money in these kind of games. We'll see what he does in the playoffs for the rematch though. Again. -

The Bears would have the same record with Griese or Orton at QB. Somebody go ahead and try to debate it, but it won't work, because it's fact. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD8o9bt-eWg I have no idea why I think it's funny, maybe it's the fact it's amazing they got about 10 different athletes to do something this corny.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) I think we'd be making a huge mistake to give up on him completely following his first season, but there seems to be something that Ozzie doesn't like about the guy. What that is, we may never know. Dude, he can't steal bases or hit home runs, pick one and do it!!! As for BA, I think we're going to give up on him due to Ozzie and I think it's a mistake.

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) The Phils don't see balls-to-the-wall 110% effort, they see recklessness that brings multiple injuries that can shorten a season and a career. And a below average hitter.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) Sometimes Memphis doesn't pay enough and they look for a raise... Reggie Rose definitely finally got the money he missed out on by not being good enough to make the NBA, so congrats to him. That's not to be bitter either, even if that wasn't what was going on here, Derrick coulda went anywhere for all we know, not like Bruce can ever get a big recruit, regardless of if the process is clean or dirty. I don't blame Derrick though, he's a hell of a talent and he'll be a great player at Memphis and probably in the NBA too after a year to tuneup down there.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 07:06 AM) And if I'm a Seattle Mariners Fan, I'm majorly pissed at Bill Bavasi and Ownership for not even attempting to make a bid here. I wouldn't be. 30 million dollars just for the right to negotiate with a guy that's never faced a batter in an MLB game and has been overused? No thanks. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) RichHill3. A 26 year old career minor leaguer with 2 pitches that had a couple good months in meaningless games isn't a solid 3 spot in any rotation I'd like to have.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) Sage Rosenfels > David Carr, you. I'm so stoked for IND-NE. Hate the Colts all you want, I guess. You all better plan on scoring AT LEAST 30 points, bare minimum. Brady is Brady, and Maroney against your rush d is a disaster waiting to happen. -
Rose combined with that other talent down there is good enough to Carmeloize Memphis. Not sure why he put off the annoucement this long though, he's been going to Memphis for several months now, and it wasn't like the Gordon thing where he was even really still looking.

Iowa's defense was real bad today, but the fact they played their 2nd best QB didn't help. And that Illinois game was only a mild surprise (I figured OSU by 14 or 17) to me, the Illini defense is real good, the offense is....well not so much. Not sure WTF Michigan was doing though.
