  1. Dixon won over previously unbeaten Robeson of the CPL 18-8 at the game I was at. Robeson scored their TD and 2 early as Dixon had to adjust to their incredible speed, but Robeson's lack of size was exposed in the 2nd half as their QB was under all kind of pressure, leading to several turnovers, and Dixon gradually ran it down their throat, scoring 18 in a row in the 2nd half to win it. The Western Sun is 7-1 now and had 3 of their 4 teams left as Geneva knocked out that very talented Hubbard team, but Rochelle lost to Sterling. And wow, Morgan Park beat Plainfield South? That's a huge upset, MP was supposed to be down this year, but it looks like East St. Louis has a cakewalk to Champaign now. Damnit, I know both will be underdogs, but I'd love to see Dixon and Sterling win. For those not familar with the geography of the area (everybody), Dixon and Sterling are bordering towns that are very similar in size, and if both win next week, the 2 would play for a trip downstate. That would be an UNREAL atmosphere.
  2. Jermaine Dye..........yeah................he's kinda a big deal.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) Iowa State beats EA Sports 58-57. The same EA Sports team lost to #23 Creighton in overtime yesterday, so that was encouraging. It's in the game!!
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Jordan Bernstein, top football recruit in the state of Iowa, notes Iowa as his favorite over UCLA, Texas A&M, and others. A highly touted football player from Iowa that wants to go to Iowa? What are you gonna tell me next, the state has a lot of corn and is full of Cubs fans?
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) Stevenson loses Libertyville loses North Chicago loses Lake Zurich wins I can't see anybody beating LWE in 8A, they are simply too good. And I CAN'T BELIEVE that Libertyville lost, they must have really played badly. Also, in what might have been game of the week statewide IMO, East St. Louis came from behind to beat Edwardsville, 33-27. They are going to run Providence off the field next week IMO, I know Providence is hot but the athletes from the ESL are going to cause them a disaster. ESL/Plainfield South as a final 4 would be great. And that brand new Western Sun league is still undefeated with Kaneland beating the hell out of North Chicago, as well as Batavia winning 40-37 over St. Viator in what sounds like was a classic game. Tomorrow, that league has Rochelle hosting Sterling and Geneva hosting Hubbard. Both teams are at home, but those are tough games for both.
  6. This helps us more than just about any move KW can make....
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Plus they also have Pitt left on the schedule and they are decent. It should be another damn good Thursday night game in a week when Rutgers/Ville square off. Yeah, and South Florida is ok. The Big East really is getting an unfair bad rap, it's not a bad league at all.
  8. Rose to Memphis is about a 90 percent sure thing, which is the bad news for the Illini. The good news is that Benn to the Illini is also about a 90 percent sure thing. Gotta take the good and the bad if such is true.
  9. I'll be at Dixon/Robeson tomorrow. Should be a real good one.
  10. I think they might just both be out of "juice"......
  11. I'm surprised the AP mentioned the gyroball, even though it hasn't even been confirmed to actually exist yet.
  12. The Gold Glove is an irrelevant popularity contest anyways. Not a big deal.
  13. Louisville is in for a battle a week from now. Next Thursday, at Rutgers. Rutgers is undefeated, it's a night road game, the crowd will be wild, and Ray Rice and Brian Leonard will do bad things to that Louisville run defense. That one could go either way.
  14. They shouldn't be allowed to take GG's into account for a Hall of Fame resume anymore IMO, they are so irrelevant and based on reputation and a popularity contest. It's a lot like high school actually.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) A very influential person in the Memphis AAU basketball scene is saying that Rose is going to Memphis. Yeah, I still think that, like with Scheyer, the interest shown in Illinois is all to avoid receiving hatred, not due to actual interest.
  16. I'm shocked that the best defensive CF in baseball would have his option declined.
  17. Lakers 2-0 without Kobe. Lamar Odom is damn good, and they have some other guys that can play apparently. Look out.
  18. Random thought of the day: Why the hell did the Bulls draft Trenton Hassell over Gilbert Arenas?? QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Bulls having two very tough games in Florida to open the season, going 1-1 is not the worst thing that could have happened. Have to string a few together a home, thats all. Dabby, jump on AIM if you can really quick. I actually thought they'd win in Miami and lose in Orlando. Just was surprised how each game played out. My hope is to get through the first 12 at 7-5 before the back to back games with the Knicks, that get us to 9-5. The Knicks are winning though, although the Pao less Grizzles will be a league doormat this year, so that's not a big surprise IMO.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) And Vince Carter could be playing for Orlando next season. Imagine a lineup of; PG - Nelson SG - Carter SF - Turk / Hill PF - Darko C - Dwight There is no way they bring Hill back IMO, but I think Carter might end up down there. Carter and Nelson would be a backcourt than I WOULD like . Yeah, Orlando is up and coming though.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) Seriously though, the Magic look really solid. Season obviously is all about Howard, but if he stays healthy(no reason he wont) they can do some serious damage. Best post player in the league, and yes I know Tim Duncan plays basketball still. Howard is unreal. Oh, and my sleeper MVP candidate has 21/10/5 in a game in progress. Mr. Vince Carter is the man, he's in a contract year, so he'll actually maybe, you know, try in most of the games. In which case, look out.
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMyfvOMcZf4 I'd watch every soccer game ever played if this guy announced it.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) I'd call a guard rotation of Nelson - Hill - Arroyo - Dooling - Bogans - Redick and Diener one of the best in the league actually. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However, they are killing the Bulls tonight. At least Hill and Nelson. And yes, Nelson is pretty good. The rest of them though are mediocre, other than Grant Hill, who used to be good before most of his body parts fell off.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Why all the Tate hate? Because he's treated like a great QB nationwide when he's the 2nd best one on his team, and would be the 2nd best one on Indiana. Nobody is denying he can play, but he's not nearly the player your told he is by the media.
  24. Bulls looked as bad in this 1st half as they did the last one. To let Orlando's pathetic guards do that to your defense is a joke. Howard is one thing, but you can't let these other guys light you up like that. They were too happy with last nights win I guess.
  25. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) He was impressive, but I think Thabo was far and away a surprise for me. Also I like the style we are playing this year against the heat, rebound and run all day long. With the interior defense we now have, we should be able to get quick boards and outlet before the other team can turn around. Also Deng will continue to be a force. Yes sir. Thabo was a response pick as well IMO. With his height and quickness, he's going to be the guy guarding LeBron, Michael Redd, Stephen Jackson, Prince/Rip Hamilton, etc for years to come in this division.
