  1. QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) um bud, if we dont make the post season it will NOT be because of Bobby... i'm sorry but thats idiotic. It's not Bobby's fault he was misused by his skipper. But we've already lost a few games and almost did again today because Bobby was brought in in the 8th. If we miss the playoffs by a couple games, you look back at games like that and say "damn, we shoulda won". But Bobby made a big pitch and got out of it, so we got a win today, thank God.
  2. I posted it in another thread but gotta get in this one as well...props to BA for that cutoff to keep the tying run on 3rd. 2nd time this year he's made a nice play out there in the 9th that eventually avoided Bobby having a BS.
  3. QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) why not try and let bobby grow into being a better player? the more he gets used to going more than 1 the more able he'll be to do it consistently He's a closer, he's a pitcher that starts an inning, and the stats say it obviously. We've already lost a few games this year doing this, and almost did again today. I don't want to miss the playoffs by a game or two because we tried to let Bobby "grow as a pitcher". And whoever called me an idiot needs to grow up. No need for name calling.
  4. QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) it's not inexcusable managing - bobby should be able to go more than one inning and he proved he could against the yankees. why would ozzie hesitate? he is our goddamned closer for god's sake Because he's ALWAYS bad in the 9th after he pitches the 8th. I don't care if you think he should be blue collar and get 4 outs, but HE CAN'T. And even before that, letting Eminem pitch to Teahen instead of Thornton cost us another run. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) There you go. You don't notice it as much, and it shows up almost nowhere in the stats, but Brian Anderson also saved the game right there. 2nd time this year he's done it for Bobby. He also did it against Baltimore keeping a man on 3rd base before Bobby pitched out of it. BA has saved 2 likely BS's for Bobby with his defense.
  5. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) And it looks like MB is starting to pitch well again. (Just going by stats.) He's being a lot more careful with men on base. I can live with the solo homers if he gets the ground balls and pop ups with men on base. He's making progress.
  6. QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) BOBBY BAILED US OUT jesus christ give credit where credit is due Bobby made a big pitch, of course he gets credit. As does BA for keeping that runner at 3rd on the gapper that gave them the first run. But that was still inexcuseable managing, and since we won, I'm an idiot for saying it.
  7. Horrible, horrible, horrible series. However, we picked up a game on the Twinkies and FINALLY got Mark his 10th win, so I'll take it.
  8. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) yeah sweeney did it. GMAFB. Bobby can get 4 god dam outs in a big game. If he can't it's on Bobby. Good to know you don't watch the games. Jenks is HORRIBLE in those spots, and was pretty bad again today. Luckily Sweeney can't hit this year and bailed us out.
  9. Wow, Sweeney saves Ozzie's ASS!!!! Thank God, a hard earned split against the Royals.
  10. Gapper. It's 5-4, 2nd and 3rd 1 out. Ozzie defenders: 1. Why did Thornton not face Teahen 2. Why would Jenks come in during the 8th, when he's notorious for sucking in the subsequent 9th. Grudz gets an IBB, bases loaded 1 out.
  11. Wow Bobby got away with a hanger there. And then he throws a great hook and gets no love from the ump. Payoff pitch is a basehit to right. 1st and 2nd 1 out, shocking to see Jenks struggle in this spot.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) Coming in to pitch to batters in the 8th. He has had trouble getting outs in the 9th afterwards. You need to quit it with your negative obsession about Ozzie. After all, he won us a ring last year.
  13. Bobby with the DLW. UGH, hopefully his longstanding trend of being awful after coming in the middle of the previous inning doesn't continue.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Thome doesn't score that run whether he is in motion or not. Well of course, Pods wasn't even there that far ahead of the throw and he was in motion. If Pods wasn't in motion, he probably doesn't even score.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) BTW, Ozzie just got us a run with his managing... Which offsets the run he cost us with his managing last inning.
  16. Thatta boy PK. And you still suck Pods, but way to be fast?
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) Ozzie goes with Mack over Pods as the replacement leadoff guy. A sign of things to come? I believe it was a defensive replacement, or is Pablo hurt?
  18. Well Bobby induces the ground ball with a good hammer, and Uribe JUST gets Sanders after the double bobble. Hopefully Jenks can get it done in the 9th too.
  19. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Awesome. Bobby in for a +1.0 inning save. That usually works out really well. As usual, great use of the bullpen by us.
  20. I never thought I'd see the day where we'd have to bring in our closer for a 4 out save in order to split a 4 game home series with one of baseball's worst teams.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) Ozzie knows what he's doing. And if you say otherwise, your a chicken little bandwagon fan.
