  1. Tracey is going to help out that pen I think.....too bad he can't start games.
  2. Freddy has an ERA over 5, and Jon over 6 now. I think our other 3 guys have obviously done a nice job, but are we going to have to give B-Mac a shot and/or make a trade? I mean it's Mid-June, these are no longer small sample sizes.
  3. When will Freddy realize that 85 MPH fastballs at the belt and hanging breaking balls don't get people out?
  4. Wow, an easy inning from a starter, and an easy 1st inning....from Freddy?? That's a refreshing change.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) And on top of that translate those numbers over to the American league and throw in some major elbow surgery. He would be an absolute disaster. Exactly correct, I don't get why people like him so much.....pre surgery he was a very good defender, but he has much less potential at the plate than Uribe, makes more money, has injury issues, and even healthy is no more than as good as Juan is on defense IMO.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) Knowing his posting history, I can guarantee he was ripping on Pods.....and good for him! Pods has been steady all year with his 100 point average/on base split this year. So assuming Pods hits .277 (which is career average, and he actually hit above that last year), you'd have him at some point getting hot and you'd also have a still pretty fast leadoff man with a .377 on base. I'll take that thank you very much.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) I've heard the name Izturis numerous times and it makes absolutely NO sense to me. The guy would actually make the Sox worse if we acquired him.d Cesar Izturis career: .261 average .295 OBP .338 slugging .633 OPS YUCK!!!! I'll stick with Uribe and Cintron and hope Uribe gets on one of his patented hot streaks.
  8. You'll be hearing the name Cesar Izturis at some point too, but I don't see Izturis or Wilson to be any better than Cintron is, plus both are paid hansomely I believe. No thanks.
  9. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) Yesterday's game really "hurt." First finals game I get to see and they lose. As badly as they played and as questionable as McGoo was, the Oil only managed 1 more goal, so I guess if I had to take a positive from the game, it would be that. I do not know if NBC had the crowd sound turned down, but the Rexall Place was nowhere near as loud as I expected. Crowd noise on t.v. rarely accurate depicts how loud the place actually is, so that could have been the issue. As for your Canes, they will be fine......the Oilers got the whole boost going home thing, your boys didn't play very well, and it still took a flukey goal very late for Edmonton to win.
  10. I don't get the wrestler love here. Obviously some of what goes on turns out to be real and you have to be tough and in shape to do it, but really wrestling is mostly fake s*** going on between juiced up freaks.
  11. Congrats to the Rush, but I hear even one person say "daaaaa, Da Coach should come back to the Bears as coach (and/or) owner and bring a Super Bowl back to Chicago", i'm going to shoot myself in the face. Ditka needs to go the f*** away, it's been TWENTY YEARS since the Bears won anything. I'm in college, almost old enough to legally drink, and wasn't even born yet when the Bears won that Super Bowl. Move on. /mini-rant.
  12. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) I'm gonna have to 'Just say no!' to Ozuna in CF...I like the occasional spot start for our leadoff contact hitter in left field, and some at SS, thats about it. If your implying Ozuna doesn't make contact, keep in mind he's struck out in 12.5 percent of his at bats, while Pods has in nearly 17 percent of his. Now Pods doesn't make contact enough for a player with his skill set these days, but just a thought.
  13. Thanks guys, just wondering. It was a heck of a catch, then he tossed the ball down to some fans in the lower deck for a souveneir and it nearly hit some lady that wasn't looking.
  14. So I'm watching the pregame, and Joe Morgan and Karl Ravech are talking about how "the young Indians are wilting under pressure of expectations" and how the team needs leadership. Umm.....I don't get it. Age of Indians: Casey Blake: 32 Travis Hafner: 29 Jason Michaels: 30 Ronnie Belliard: 31 Aaron Boone: 33 Ben Broussard: 29 Eduardo Perez: 36 Bob Wickman: 37 Rafael Betancourt: 31 Paul Byrd: 35 Jake Westbrook: 28 Guillermo Mota: 32 Jason Johnson: 32 Cliff Lee: 27 Victor Martinez: 27 Now Sabathia is only 25, Peralta 24, and Sizemore 23 (2 stars and somebody in Peralta that might still be one)....and they have some very young (and unproven) bullpen arms, but to say this team is young is a stretch. I bet in terms of average age, they are older than average (16th youngest or worse). Just a thought.
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Nah. Warner is more potent than Edwards. Just because he's cute and charismatic doesn't mean that he's electable. He was on his way to defeat in Carolina as a Senator until he pulled out of the race. Edwards is a political loser, with no accomplishments in the Senate, really, and nothing that'll catch the public's eye. And, as far as your saying that hte Democrats have no candidates, that's nonsense. There'll be one, and a good one. what you're saying sounds like post-1988: "we don't have much of anything in terms of candidates" and then Bill Clinton stumbles along. How soon we forget history, however, and that most of our candidates HAVE been surprise, dark horses. Fair enough...although it's understandable I don't remember the Clinton stumbling along thing since I was about 5 then.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) He's sucking less than I expected him to, which was a minor victory already to me. He consistently throws strikes out of the bullpen, and with the state of major league bullpens, somebody like that is automatically going to be adequate. A guy like Montero that throws in the low 90's and makes you hit the ball can be more effective than people realize (although with that said, I'm not a huge Montero fan).
  17. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Oh I soooooooooooo hope they run a candidate who made his fortune with frivolus lawsuits against the Health Care industry. PLEASE DO IT!!! That would guarantee Republican rule for at least another 4 years. Oh your definitely right that Edwards would have some issues, but he's the most electable candidate for the democrats. Kerry showed his true colors of ignorance and stupidity in the last election by losing an election to a horrible persident, and Hilary simply would never win though, so Edwards is the best option. I just hope the republican party gives me a candidate to be excited about and vote for, but I would be surprised if the democrats win this election, regardless of what candidate the republican party has. The democrats will gain a lot of power in the house and senate in upcoming votes IMO, but the party simply doesn't have much of anything in terms of candidates to become president.
  18. Hilary and Kerry would not be able to win. Edwards is BY FAR the best candidate in terms of ability to win for the Dems, so democrats should hope that the trend in this poll is accurate nationwide among their party.
  19. I remember seeing Papelbon pitch some innings against us last October....and I had a feeling he might end up being a damn good closer for them. Obviously he won't continue to dominate like he is right now, but he's no joke and will be a very good closer for years to come, unless of course Boston moves him into the rotation, which is possible as well.
  20. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) I don't much care if the guy killed his wife and drove away in a Ford Bronco. As long as he pitches better than Cliff Politte, I will tolerate him. Ha!!! One of the best posts I've seen on this site since I've been around. Bravo and I can't say I disagree with you.
  21. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) Agreed. We've won the series already against the Tribe. Like Ozzie said, I'd rather lose him for a few days then rush him out there and potentially lose him for a few weeks. Yep, and Pablo is REALLY swinging the bat right now so put him at 3rd and don't worry about it.
  22. Ok so later in the game yesterday (can't remember exactly when), Singleton made a very good catch in the Score booth on a foul ball hit by Cleveland and got a nice ovation from the crowd. Question for those that watched on FOX.....did they show the catch or talk about it at all? I saw the Fox guys a couple booths over and they seemed to be laughing about it, it was a great play though.
  23. No point in playing him today IMO......got a long flight to Texas after a night game and then we have to play again on Monday night. Give him 1 more day off.
  24. Liriano with another dominating outing today, the Twins now have 2 f***ing lefties that have amazing stuff and are unhittable. Lovely.
  25. Give him the Pujols treatment, unless V Mart is red hot, and call it a day. He's a monster, and even moreso against us.
