  1. QUOTE(jenksd @ May 17, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) So are Hawk and DJ in the booth or those Cubs' schmucks? Hawk and DJ do the game Friday, it's a Fox National TV game Saturday, Kasper and Brenly do the game Sunday. Also, my guess is the Saturday game on Fox National will be Josh Lewin and DJ, if the past is an indication.
  2. For some reason I enjoy it when the Cubs guys do the game and we win, hearing their depression after a loss to us is fun. This series just doesn't have the same luster IMO after October of 2005 and my new mindset about Sox goals in general, but this will still be a lot of fun.
  3. Well obviously the more errors you make, the more chances another team has to score...hence EVERY team will have their record get worse the more errors they make. To a degree, this team's stats with errors can be deceiving though. Most of our defenders have above average range, so we could have somebody like Uribe or Crede make an error on a play that a lot of guys would have never even got to and been a single or double instead. The error stat is important, but I can live with our errors since our defenders have so much range and are so good that they more than make up for the errors with great plays they also make.
  4. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ May 17, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Bonds has cheated less than many players that have been on the Sox. That you can take to the bank. So if your going to get on some crucifix, go do it with another team. The White Sox threw World Series games a crime far worse than trying to improve your performance. Yet you still come here as a Sox fan, not even from Chicago. Im so sick of hearing this s***, its as if people act like Bonds is the first player to have ever cheated. Note that is past tense, as there is absolutely no proof Bonds is cheating this year. So I shouldn't be a Sox fan since our team threw a world series 87 years ago, a crime several other teams committed? Ok......and Bonds could be THE BIGGEST cheater in terms of juicing in the history of the game, based on how big and powerful he became all of a sudden in his mid 30's. Bonds is not the first player to have ever cheated, but he's the saddest case since he was going to be a 500/500 HOF player WITHOUT the juice, so he didn't even have the "It made me a ton of money and gained me fame" excuse like others do. And btw, if Sosa or McGwire were the ones playing right now with 713 homers, I'd be saying THE EXACT SAME things about them. Your correct my post was over the line and out of line, however Bonds cheated when he didn't even need to, he was great WITHOUT the juice!! Plus he's an asshole to all, lies about his cheating, is a racist, and has no respect for anybody who played in the past unless they are black. He's a freaking joke, and maybe I shouldn't say hit in the face....how about instead he gets hit in the knee and can never play again. That way he's not hurt badly and can recover one day, but can't cheat anymore records out of the books.
  5. I did a research paper on both the Black Sox and the widespread gambling in baseball in spring of 2004 (my senior year of high school). Wish I still had it on my computer, because I'd post it. Has a ton of references and such, very good stuff. Anyways, the 1919 Black Sox WERE NOT the first team to throw games, or throw them in a world series, not even close. In fact, many believe (with some proof) that the 1906 and 1918 Cubs not only threw the World Series, but made it even more obvious than the 1919 White Sox did, but nobody was looking for it yet (here's to you Mountain Landis). So yes, when people say our Sox in 1919 were the first to throw a World Series, that is WAY WAY wrong. It's just sad that Shoeless Joe is banned for life for doing something that AT LEAST half a dozen other men in the hall of fame also did. And that's assuming Shoeless Joe actually threw the games and took the money, which we aren't for sure about.....I mean Shoeless Joe was a great player, but he was illiterate and not really the type that could defend himself as well as a player now would be able to.
  6. I enjoyed Wimpy when he broadcasted for us when I was a kid....but hearing him now on the Nats broadcasts, well let's just say I'm glad he's there, DJ is a better broadcaster right now.
  7. Only problem I have with this is Bonds didn't get hurt. 99.99 percent of the time I'm agianst stuff like this, but I wish he'd have hit Bonds in the face. Bonds made his own bed by being a cheating asshole and hopefully he continues to get hell for it....from the fans, the media, and now maybe even the players. If Barry Bonds were on the Sox, I'd still hate him and would have a very hard time with rooting for my own team.
  8. How many 3-2 games have we lost this year guys? Not many, most of our losses are because Garland/middle relief/Jenks twice completely blew up. When we lose, it's because of the pitching, not the hitting (for the most part)....this is not 2005. Don't worry about Brian, he's a great defender and his hitting is slowly coming around. If we start losing 3-2 games more often and he's leaving 5 on base, then we'll get back to this thread.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 17, 2006 -> 08:20 AM) 36/20 for Marion. f*** yeah Suns That guy is AMAZING....him and Dirk are the only 2 players in the league right now IMO that can play all 5 positions and play them at least pretty well. Just a couple of amazing talents, and Marion was born in Illinois (Waukegan) so of course, I approve of "The Matrix". Also I'd like to point out that these NBA Playoffs are an exposing point in the sense that for the NBA haters.....if you can't enjoy watching these playoffs, you are not a basketball fan. These games are amazing to watch and if you are going to hate on them, you clearly just don't like this sport, the end.
  10. We scored 7 runs last night, we lost because our middle relief is amazingly bad right now....not sure how this relates.
  11. QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 17, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) did you use a sock or tissue tissue, but I dont' need it for an athletic event......other than October 26th, 2005.
  12. Sam Cassell is just clutch, Elton Brand is a beast, damn these NBA playoffs have been good. 2 awesome games last night, 2 awesome games tonight. The "MVP" Nash with 2 straight turnovers here, well done stud. 03.6 left, Clippers lead 109-108. Clutch Sam Cassell makes them both, 111-108 with 03.6 left. Timeout Suns, Clippers have a foul to give. Suns can't get it inbounds, timeout called. Tim Thomas, their best 3 point shooter who had 25 tonight (Ugh Pax) has fouled out. HOLY s***, BELL FOR 3!! TIE GAME WITH 1.1 LEFT?!? OMGWTF! Marion for the win from 35...JUST SHORT. DOUBLE OVERTIME. WOW!
  13. As usual, Vince waits just a little too long to take over the game, he's made quite a career of doing that. Heat vs. TBD should be a fun series, either Shaq/LeBron or Heat/Pistons part 2 should be good times.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) In hindsight...I think tonights outing has spelled an end to Logan. We will see Count back for Montero and than Nelson will be called up. In fact, if the Sox think he's ready, Nelson may be up even sooner than we think. Count for Montero is obvious of course, but the Nelson being up sooner than we think line....is that an educated guess or do you know something that we don't?
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) For the love of everything that is holy what other stats would you like to use? That Pods-Soriano comparison is beyond horrible. Give me more than one stat where Kazmir is bettering Mussina, please. Give me a stat where Mussina is more than a fraction better than Kazmir other than "WHIP". Your the one that got into the stats debate, where they have stats that are pretty much identical. I'll give you the argument that Mussina could have been the best pitcher in the AL East right now, but Kazmir has been just as good.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) Better ERA, better WHIP, better BAA Looks a little bit better to me So 2/10 of a run ERA, which at this point could be as simple as a ball hitting the catwalk and landing instead of being a flyout, means Mussina is better? Interesting logic, although I guess if you have a better WHIP and BAA, your a better pitcher...similar to how Pods is better than Soriano since his OBP and strikeout ratios are better. I love stats.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) They produce 2 runs, it's a 3 run game with 9 outs to go. Kazmir has 95 pitches, I wouldn't call it over after that. But it's good to know you would concede a 3 run game with 3 innings to play against a team with a bullpen ERA over 5.5 You seem to forget that our bullpen is just as bad other than the fact we have a closer and Cotts has been better recently. We'd have been down 3, but it wouldn't have lasted for long, as you see right now.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) No f***ing s*** I realize that. Christ, I say that our 3-4-5 fail to do anything with a leadoff double and I have to hear how good he is. And the best pitcher in the AL East RIGHT NOW is Mike Mussina. Duquette Mussina: 6-1, 2.56, 52/10 Kazmir: 6-2, 2.78, 54/20 Only difference I see is Mussina gets more run support and has a couple less walks, so it's debateable who is the best right now.
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) No f***ing s*** I realize that. Christ, I say that our 3-4-5 fail to do anything with a leadoff double and I have to hear how good he is. Duquette Well lets say our 3-4-5 produces 2 runs out of that situation, which would be damn good off of Kazmir. We'd still be in deep s***, you act like it was a 2-1 game still when that happened. We're going to lose tonight, s*** happens, we had a bad matchup. When we win the next 2, I hope everybody chills out here. Boone Logan sucks, we know that. Scott Kazmir is good, we know that. That's about all I've seen out of this game.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) A leadoff double by your 2 hitter and the 3-4-5 don't do s***. You do realize Kazmir is probably the best pitcher in the AL East right now don't you? There is a reason his ERA is 2.70 and he strikes out 1 an inning and is 5-2 on a team that can't hit, he's damn good.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) No s*** they won't, but getting shelled by a team that has slumped for a month and a half is not acceptable. Boone Logan is the slumpbuster of middle relief, put me in there against him and I'd double to left center field.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) With a 100 million dollar payroll, you should be in every game. Well when the other team is pitching their ace (who is better than any pitcher on the Yankees mind you) and we're pitching our 6th starter who could go 5 innings tops, and our 1 weakness is our middle relief suckfest....you have a game you'd need a lot of luck to be in. When you play 162 games, there are some like this and last Friday that you are just set up to lose. That's why nobody goes 162-0.
  23. We got a matchup of our 6th starter against one of the hottest pitchers in the game, our SP was on an 80 pitch count, and our middle relief sucks ass. Did anybody actually expect to win this game? We had very little chance, similar to last Friday at Minnesota with Johan vs. Garland. Hopefully Jon pitches decent tomorrow and we light up sorry ass Seth McClung, and then Javy can win series Thursday.
  24. Kazmir vs. B-Mac is a bad matchup, just gotta outslug them tomorrow and then take the series on Thursday. No biggie, but yet again Boone Logan is useless.
  25. About time to give this one a bump. Get in shape and to Chicago soon, Jeff Nelson.
