  1. This is one of 2 or 3 worst pitching matchups we've gotten all year, based on a lot of reasons. If we win tonight somehow, I'd be very excited and it would almost make up for yesterday's disaster.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 22, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) I'm so bummed about our entire gov't right now. Party doesn't matter. They all are just bureaucrats. Yes sir, the government is literally almost 100 percent corrupt extremist bureaucrats, regardless of party. And voting for change means nothing since most people just vote along party lines and ignore the candidates anyways. Until we see some honesty and moderation in both parties, things won't change though, and I think things are a LONG way from changing.
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ May 22, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Ozzie Smith = overrated. There. I said it. Although in general I agree with the statement, he's still a legit HOF player who is getting shafted a decade after retirement by the organization he played for almost his entire career. I mean I know bad feelings happen, but get over it Cards it's been a decade.
  4. And if you put on sports radio, A.J. started it Satuday and was classless with mocking Z yesterday. What an effin joke, I'm officially in media blackout mode the rest of this week. f***ing Cubs are a joke, enjoy the century celebration in 2 years boys.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Personally speaking...instead of cheering for Frank, I'd just cheer for every Sox player that actually helped us get to the World Series. I wouldn't boo Frank, but I wouldn't give him an ovation either. That I disagree with, he won us several key games that we ended up really needing with that home run binge he was on for about a month or so. I just wouldn't boo or cheer him since you can't boo the best player in team history, but I can't cheer him either because of the way he went out.
  6. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 22, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Why would Wood allow that? It's his contract year? Team has more power than he does, so he kind has to. And if he takes s*** about it, he's a bad teammate and a whiny bad apple and all that.
  7. La Russa ran Ozzie outta town for Royce freaking Clayton, and he continues to be a douche about the whole thing. I'd be pissed too if I was Ozzie to be honest. And before you call me a hypocrite people, if in 10 years Ozzie Guillen says stuff like this about Frank not being welcome I'll rip on his ass too. But it's one thing for an injured Frank to be rut outta here for Thome, but Royce Clayton??
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) What did their fans do...? Nothing but class around us when the incident went down Saturday. Several Cub fans got tossed from the 1b dugout area because they were yelling at Baker. Guess it's your alter ego posting death to Bonds, eh? :rolly The fans AT THE GAME were class, and I think they represent the Cubs fanbase portion that do know the game and do really pay attention to their team. However their are FAR FAR in the minority in that damn fanbase, so that is where the hate comes from. Also in regards to Wood, he has had legit injuries and does seem like a nice guy, so I will wish him the best once he leaves that organization after this season. Also I think in this case that if Wood misses the start, it's more the Cubs making him than Wood wanting to do it, I mean it sounds like he's just typically sore and the Cubs are way over reacting.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ May 21, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) Anderson's going to get 5 games, if this report is true. BTW...I think this report is bogus. I can't see MLB announcing a suspension late on a Sunday night. It was reported by Bruce Levine, so take that FWIW.
  10. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) Yeah. I think Barrett will just suck it up and take his medicine. Mabry probably wont appeal since he only got 3. Im kinda worried about that whole Contreras thing though. Id hate to see him get suspended right after coming off the DL. If AJ gets any punishment at all I think he will appeal and probably win. If Count were to get suspended, it would be no more than Lee's 5 games and we'd probably use the appeal process and an off day to just skip him once in the rotation at some point if he did.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 21, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Really? Pretty much. You can appeal as soon as it's handed down, and play until the appeal hearing is held, which it takes forever for MLB to do normally. If you are suspeneded for 3 games or something, you can pretty much appeal and if you feel it won't be changed, you can drop your appeal for 3 games against a bad team or something like that after a while.
  12. Barrett shouldn't appeal, he should feel lucky he only got 10 games. Mabry getting 3 makes me think Anderson will get 5 or 6, that should be all the punishment we get unless Jose was on the field.
  13. Good, I hope he misses a month or more. I wish injury and bad luck on that team and their fans after their embarassing display of class this weekend. I know eye for an eye is a bit childish, but in this case I will follow it.
  14. He lost his standing ovation from me and a lot of self respecting other fans with the pathetic way he went out. However he SHOULD NOT BE BOOED, and if he is I'll be very dissapointed.
  15. vs. KC (Jenks blown save) at TB (Vasquez left in too long) vs. Flubs (Uribe f*** up) Games like these are games we won last year, and were why we clinched the division at Detroit instead of heading to Cleveland tied for first or down a couple games. If we lose this division and/or don't make the playoffs, these types of games are the reason why. You can't blow 3 games, ESPECIALLY against s*** teams with late leads. I hope I won't have to bump this thread in 4 months.
  16. We won't score many tomorrow, but as we've seen, we won't need many either. Sox 4 Cubs 2 LOCK IT! lol.
  17. Yep I heard it live, I was going to post a thread but figured there already was one...... He definitely said it, so it could be said that this move was indeed premeditated.
  18. QUOTE(Sox Machine @ May 21, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) Make sure it has a pull-string in the back so it talks. Ha, a pull string with Ozzie quotes on the statue, awesome!!! *pulls string* "f*** THE CUBS!!" *pulls string* "Maggs is a Venezualan pussy" *pulls string* "Tell that triple a b**** to shut the f*** up" Oh this is gold.
  19. QUOTE(Felix @ May 20, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) I really don't know what to say to this. This is one of the stupidest things I've ever read by someone posting about Cub fans. I think I'd better become more scarce during these Sox/Cubs series.. things are just getting too ridiculous. Your normally a very good poster, so I'll just assume based on your location you aren't from here and don't understand the rivalry all out, and pretend I didn't see this post. Is the rivalry this petty and bitter? Always has been, always will be. We may have bragging rights for eternity, but the anger never dies.
  20. When is the Ozzie statue being built? That comment alone should get construction going.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) I have a tough time blaming people who were born into it. I can't imagine it's easy to stop rooting for a team when you've done it since you were a child. Valid point, maybe people who raise their kids to be Cub fans should get slapped with child abuse charges. (Ok that should be in green......maybe )
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 20, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) He didn't really take him to the ground. I was in a perfect spot to see it all unfold, and Pods pretty much speared Barrett to the ground Goldberg style. It was a real takedown and I was in awe.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) That's a little too harsh. That one I'm not taking back. If your dumb enough to become a Cubs fan, you deserve to suffer.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 20, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) ugh Hey I gave the nice speech, I'm actually quite calmed down from when I was at the games. The drunk ass Cubs fans were saying it was AJ's fault, idiots. Man do I hate those people. And I take back not wanting Mabry to be able to breath right, but I still hope the ass broke his ribs. Maybe if so, Barrett will think twice next time he gets ran the f*** over before resorting to sucker punching.
  25. Much respect guys, you did what I wish I could have done. Way to back up your teammate and do your thing guys, your not the biggest guys in the world, but you gained my respect. Thanks for not letting a pussy sucker punch go without consequence, I hope Mabry's ribs are broken and his breathing patterns are altered. Great job boys!!
