Borchard's slider speed bat and LTP along with Maddux's 81 MPH fastball are a match made in heaven.

Ozzie: Mack going to start more games in CF

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) It's possible to disagree with something and not b****. I don't think I'm b****ing here when I say that I don't think it's the right move to basically make Mack a regular. Your not one of the ones b****ing sir, there is a difference between basic disagreement and all out b****ing and your on the right side of the line. -
Haren has been solid lately and doesn't walk many. Our lineup usually doesn't do this, but if the strike zone is actually regular sized tonight we will need to attack early in the count, as Haren only has 8 or 9 walks all year.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) :headshake There are plenty of times to use this reference, but I don't think this is one of them. Why not? We are 1 game behind last year's pace, despite not even playing our best ball, and a thread over our manager wanting to play a guy who's 12 for his last 24 turns into "this is stupid, we need defense in CF". That's just silly IMO. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) WHy cant we just package someone and the pick to get KG? Because the only way we'd do that is giving up both picks, Tyson, and at least 1 other guy to get KG so the contracts will match, and first of all we don't want to give up the 2 picks and maybe somebody like Deng to get KG, and plus NOBODY wants Tyson's horrid contract. I hope I'm wrong and that happens though. -
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) Lets hope that the cooler doesn't mock Zombrano tomorrow. Luckily they are leaving town. The cooler actually points towards the sky everytime after somebody takes a drink from it, so had Zambrano pitched in this series there would have been issues.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Basically Ozzie said he will play against RH pitchers. Well thats been the case so far, what exactly is changing? Fans want a reason to b**** and moan, this winning stuff is new to us and we're still getting used to the mindset. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but that is what the deal is here IMO. -
With all this Tom Foolery going on lately, I think all players should take mandatory self defense classes in the offseason. You can be attacked by fellow players, water coolers.....I mean what's next, will mascots attack??

Yeah it's becoming clear the Raptors want to take Bargnani, which is ok since it means the Bulls can have Aldridge. -
I think Maddux is a hero. His move to beat the hell outta that water cooler clearly fired up the troops, as they finished off being swept by the previously 11-30 Marlins. He will get a lot of calls tonight from people who have a history with that water cooler as well, it was coming after him and self defense was necessary. I also think the Cubs are going to go on a huge winning streak now, between Barrett and Maddux firing up the troops as well as Cubs management talking to Paul Sullivan about his unfair reporting and getting all of those situations straightened out.

Mack is raking right now, might as well keep his bat in the lineup, however I worry about Anderson's mental state. -
"Go!" by Common and Kanye West is also played before some Pods at bats btw, although not sure if that matters.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) wow, I hope someone saw Maddux absolutley crush the water cooler with a bat. Well he gave up a 3 run homer to JOE BORCHARD, so I think he kept his temper well if that's all he did.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Everybody in a White Sox uniform Shalt Not Pitch to Albert Pujols. Fixed. Yeah, that game ended up going 16 I believe. Madson had pitched 7 scoreless in relief, tossing over 100 pitches. He came out for inning #8 and Beltran led it off with a walk off shot. Also as I mentioned in another thread, Chris Ray got a save in a game his team won by 10 and he only pitched 4 outs. He got the last out of the 8th with the O's up 5-4 and a man on 3rd, watched his team score 9 in the 9th, then pitch a perfect 9th for the save.

Oilers survive a wild 3rd to win tonight, and take a commanding 3-0 lead. Looks like the #8 seed will be in the Finals. -

Toronto is interesting, as they already have 2 cornerstones up front in Villenueva and Bosh, and have a pretty good backcourt in James and Peterson. To be honest, a guy that they could really use is Rudy Gay. If the Raps use the pick I'd guess it will be on Aldridge, however I think they will do whatever they can to trade out. The Raps also need some people that can play defense, as was made obvious when Kobe dropped 81 on them, and the Raps were also worst in the league in points per game allowed. Hmmm really? Interesting, he's supposedly in the Dirk mode, so if he turned out that good along with Bosh and Villanueva, yikes.....although I'd take it as it would leave LaMarcus for the Bulls. -

Yeah Thome will get the day off, especially since Thursday is an off day anyways. That way he will get 2 days off with only 1 game missed to get well. -
QUOTE(RX Bandits @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) when it is all said and done 2000 sluggers will be better than the 2006 sluggers IMO How do you figure? If healthy, Thome's numbers will be comparable to Frank's, Konerko will have comparable if not somewhat better numbers than Maggs, Dye will probably finish with numbers better than Lee, and I think that Gooch's numbers will be very similar to those of Paulie in 2000.

Patterson ends the night at .306 for the BA, as in his last 3 appearances he pads the OBP with a 4 pitch walk, a HBP, and another walk. Ends up 3 for 3, reaching all 6 appearances, hits a homer, has an RBI, steals 2 bases (now 15 for 16), and scores 3 times. Also a fun stat, Chris Ray the Orioles closer came in to get the last out of the 8th with Baltimore up 5-4 and a man on 3rd. The O's scored 9 in the top of the 9th, and Ray pitched a perfect 9th to get the save in a game that ended up with a 14-4 final.

Well the best 4 man wrecking crew I've seen would have been the 2000 team: Hurt: 43 HR, 143 RBI, .328 BA, 112 BB, .436 OBP, .625 SLG, 1.061 OPS Maggs: 32 HR, 126 RBI, .315 BA, 60 BB, .371 OBP, .546 SLG, .917 OPS Caballo: 24 HR, 92 RBI, .301 BA, 38 BB, .345 OBP, .484 SLG, .829 OPS Paulie: 21 HR, 97 RBI, .298 BA, 47 BB, .363 OBP, .481 SLG, .844 OPS Now that production level is SCARY GOOD, but I think Thome, Konerko, Dye, and Gooch IF HEALTHY can put up numbers that are comparable and damn possibly even better (I think Gooch can hit 21 bombs, although I doubt 97 RBI's, but you see my point).

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 23, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) Very solid win, too bad Kansas s***ty sucks. If we do what we are supposed to, either we will go a few ahead of Detroit of will be about 8 to 10 ahead of everybody in the Wild Card. As long as we are winning, it's all good. Great job tonight by all, let's get the sweep tomorrow night. -

Detroit looked VERY tired tonight, as the Heat didn't play their best, Wade only played 26 minutes, and the Pistons STILL lost at home. Pistons better bring it in game 2, going down to Miami down 2-0 wouldn't exactly be a good thing for them. -
The final line for Wood tonight: 5 IP, 2 hits, 5 walks, 3 runs (all earned) 3 k's, 86 pitches A pedestrian line overall, although the Marlins have some people that are hitting right now, Hanley Ramirez entered the night leading the NL in average, Cabrera of course, Willingham has been good, Uggla is over .300, and Jeremy Hermida is back. Wood was in line and all set up to get the win tonight though and even up at 1-1 before the 2 out, 2 run single off Dumpster by Jacobs to win the game. We'll see how he feels in 4 days.
-
3 for 3 tonight, here are the season splits: .306 average, 5 homers, 18 RBI's, 13/14 steals, 22 runs Now I'm not the flubsessed type normally, however these splits are quite interesting......

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 23, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) If they take Aldridge, Brandon Roy please. AGREED, and if that senario happens I'd be very happy. If the Bulls get Roy or Aldridge then great, if they get Thomas or Morrison, I'll vomit.
