QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 28, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) It's really to bad that the Cubs and Royals don't play each other in interleague, that'd be an entertaining series. That would be the ultimate pillow fight, it would be like a dunk contest between Gary Coleman and Verne Troyer.

Bynun k's to end it. The Cubs end up with 2 k's to the Braves 18, with the pitcher Seo whiffing to end the 1st and Bynum doing the same to end the game. Oscar Villarreal, who hasn't had a start all year, is now 7-0 as he got the win.

Who cares, nobody takes his fake numbers seriously anyways, and if they do they aren't worth the time.

Des Moines Register Says Cubs are better than Sox at something
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 28, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) You hate a lot of things don't you? Iowa, Indiana basketball, the Cubs, the Indians, 3-0 swings, and stupid people. I don't hate a lot of things, it's just a lot of people fall into the categories I hate.

I thought the Cubs had invented every way possible to lose, but if they lose today this would top them all, especially with the 2 base error on the header by Ramirez.

Wow, leadoff 2 base error, as a popup hits A Ram in the head. wtf.

some of the interesting stats today: The Braves are outhomering the Cubs 8-0......8 homers for both sides is a record (given up and hit) breaking the record, when the Cubs gave up 7 to the Braves in 1966....the cubs, who are 30th in walks allowed and taken, are actually tied in walks today at 4, the Braves hitting coach was kicked out after his team had 12 runs and 8 homers, A fan ran onto the field for about 5 minutes, Glendon freaking Rusch k'd the first 8 guys he saw, and had 9 k's and 4 runs allowed in 4 innings, and the Braves have struck out 17 times to the Cubs 1. And of all people, the only 2 Braves to not homer today are Andruw Jones and Francoeur, and there have been 4 errors.

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 28, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) Precisely why, gasp, we should have kept Borchard over him (Gload). Borchard got us Thornton, who is going to be a nice asset in the pen in the long run, so no thanks. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 28, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) Hey, what do you ya know? Please, never mention Darin Erstad's name ever again in connection with the White Sox: The guy could be out for the year, woohoo $8.5M for a guy with serious ankle problems! But he's a badass since he was the punter at Nebraska, so don't talk bad about a "grinder" like him.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Your record as a pitcher for the most part is only as good as your run support. I'll take the lower ERA thanks. Did Jon pitch better than Jose did yesterday because Jon got the win and Jose didn't due to s*** run support? Of course not.

Ex-Bear "Iron-head" Heyward dies at 39
That's horrible, RIP Ironhead. I remmeber him on the Bears and I also remember those body wash commercials...."hey Ironhead, what's with this thingy??". 7 and a half years with a brain tumor must have been hell though, hopefully he's in a better place.

How many fastballs did Bobby throw in the 9th, 2 or 3? What a badass.

Bobby Jenks is one BAD ASS MOTHERf***ER Way to go JD, way to salvage the last game. Now let's get 3 of 4 in Cleveland and make this a 4-3 roadtrip.

AL Central Central
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 27, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Why? They were 22-25 on this date a year ago, in third place, 10 games back. They were 11 back at the ASB, still in 3rd place They were 15 back after the Sox swept them to open the second half, still in third place, just two games up on 4th. If they are relying on making a miracle run like that, which still fell short of making the playoffs, then I hope they enjoy themselves.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) The very-hot finals should get closer to reality after this weekend when the Heat go up 3-1 on the Pistons. You should be much more worried about the Suns than the Heat in that case. If the Heat win game 4 at home, I think you will see them next round. I think Suns/Mavs is heading back to Texas 2-2, in which case I don't like the Suns chances, with it in that case being a best of 3 with 2 in Dallas.

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 28, 2006 -> 12:00 AM) Well, you really answered your own question. Miguel Cabrera did have 318 ABs that season and played all of the playoffs and played a huge park in the WS (HR off Clemens). Other than him all I can think of is the '95 Braves and Chipper Jones. True. I think Cabrera also hit one onto the street off Carrie during game 7 at Wrigley. Good times indeed. EDIT: Sprague was a rookie in '93? Man I thought he was older than that.

Hello Mr. Anderson
Well other than Miguel Cabrera on the 2003 Marlins (who wasn't even called up until late June, and had to play since he was hitting from the day he got up), what recent World Champion had a prominent contributing everyday player that was a rookie? (And no, I don't count Iguchi as a rookie, those years in Japan meant something).
