QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:38 AM) Boers and Bernsey are the best show in chicago, but they have lots of inside jokes. No doubt, they are strongly opinionated (which is all I ask on radio, even if we don't agree, have an opinion) and will not tolerate idiots. However most callers to sportsradio are idiots, so you get a lot of conflict. It's a spectacular show though. MJ&H and Holmes are also good.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) How quickly we forget. I didn't forget, I was at the game. And Gooch was not on 3rd base, which is the point of this thread. I'd like to see Thome's stats with a man on 3rd and 1 out, which is the easiest RBI situation in the game. They probably aren't very good.

Apparently Grimsley ratted out several guys....that could be interesting.

QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) Twins lost 4-2 Liriano with his first loss of the season but Joe Mauer went 4-4 and a stolen base he is now batting .368 this year Remember when the Twins were cheap idiotic bastards for taking Mauer over Prior??

Reds are within 1, and have one of their dynamic duo going today (Harang) to try and sweep the Cards at Busch and move into a tie for 1st.
-
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) Because it's not like the Reds have ever gotten off to a hot start and fallen hard before... We are getting into June and they may be tied with the Cardinals for first place later today. The already weak Cardinals who now don't have Pujols. And the rest of their division is the mediocre Brewers, the mediocre Astros, and the horrible Cubs and Pirates. The Reds have gotten off to hot starts before, but this one is different and they aren't going away....they have better pitching this time and much worse competition.
-
Haeger will be back....and Lopez might be coming. And good to see Heath did well again a few nights ago.
-
The other point to be made is Albert Pujols isn't going to be back for a while, so the Reds at minimum will be very close in this race for a while. If this were to happen, it won't be until mid July minimum, and I don't really think the Reds will go away. Even with Albert, the Cards are vulnerable and the Reds are getting good enough pitching to keep winning at a fair clip with that lineup. Ironically, I think the only way the Reds fall far enough out of it to trade parts is if Griffey gets hurt (they struggled without him when he was hurt earlier this year).
-
They are 1 out of first, and based on tomorrow's pitching matchup, may be tied for 1st in 24 hours. Why the hell would they trade Griffey?

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&a
whitesoxfan101 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Our execution is still f***ing s***, as Ozzie is pointing out in the postgame presser. However that is a HUGE win, we needed that s*** badly. Jenks and Cintron....thank God. -
You've been great this year man. I mean it, really great, just spectacular. But if you could make f***ing contact with a man on 3rd and 1 out, I'd really appreciate it. Sac Flys aren't evil, and this game would be tied if you could hit one. That's all, and I hope this thread gets a bump later as you get a game winning hit.

Official NHL Playoffs Thread

Carolina with an amazing comeback to win game 1 by a 5-4 score. And Roloson is done for the rest of the series. Hasta la Vista Edmonton. -
Griffey hits a 3 run homer (and 2nd of the game) in the 9th off of the suddenly pathetic Jason Isringhausen, and the Reds win 8-7 to move within 2 games of St. Louis.

Kennedy: Repubicans rigged 2004 election
whitesoxfan101 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) There are lots of arguments to substantiate widespread fraud in Ohio in 2004 - and fully investigated may indeed cast the actual difference of votes between Bush and Kerry into doubt regarding that election. Between what seems to be a concentrated plan of urban voter disenfranchisement and some serious questions about the reliability of the electronic voting machines, it is entirely possible that some serious fraud occurred on the presidential level in that state. Given that at the time, there wasn't a single Dem holding statewide office - the finger of suspicion seems to point in the direction of the GOP. However, I don't think the fraud was enough to shift the balance. 1960 was a stolen election. So was 2000. 2004, I doubt it. Frankly Bush won that election by over 2 million votes - I don't want another president to win electoral votes but not the popular vote frankly. Even if the alternative seems vastly better today. I would say I agree with all of that. 1960 and 2000 were stolen elections indeed, but to say 2004 was is pretty uneducated. -
Josh Beckett tonight: 1.1 IP, 8 ER, and leaves to a standing ovation from the Yankee fans. He is still a Cy Young candidate in the minds of ESPN though, even though he now has a 5.23 ERA.

Indianapolis lands Big Ten tourney
whitesoxfan101 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This isn't a surprise, but it will cost the Big 10 a lot of money in lost tickets sales by not having it in Chicago. Doesn't mean a whole lot though, so w/e. -
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/104...election_stolen It's a long story, so I won't repost it quoted, but check out the link and read it. All I have to say is....Mr. Kennedy might want to check out the 1960 presidential vote and more specificially, what happened in Texas and ESPECIALLY Illinois that year. Without the voter fraud he accuses and talks down about, JFK never makes it to the White House. Unfortunately, the machine and Daley won JFK Illinois, and despite it being only a short time, JFK became president and the rest is infamy and narrowly avoided disaster. I dislike Bush as much as the next guy, but for anybody, ESPECIALLY a Kennedy to say the election was rigged, is pretty sad. Religious nuts and right wingers getting out the vote, along with Kerry making cruicial errors in his campaign, are why Bush won....not fraud.

If the Yanks didn't want Patterson to steal bases they shouldn't have let him get on base. Hey Bowa, Torre....do us all a favor and have a nice big can of shut the f*** up. Thanks.

That's about the saddest thing I've seen in a long time. Sounded quite devoted to sports to start that club and then go to school to try and get into working for the Indians as well. Such a sad story, RIP. And I wonder how Grady Sizemore feels, this story is as bizarre as it is sad.

Hey the only reason I started it today is this: Are we going to make the playoffs? If your asking me, hell yes we are. So by starting it this early, we will have a hell of a thread to look back on come October with a lot of emotional swings and fun quotes. That's all I had in mind, plus I think it will be a great race and a spot to keep track of everybody in 1 thread would be a plus.

NBA Draft Lottery Thread

http://www.chicagosuntimes.com/output/jack...-spt-jax04.html Sign Nazr, trade Ben for Frye, draft Roy, then at #16 (if you keep that pick somehow), take a talent value pick like perhaps Shawne Williams of Memphis. I like it. -
NBA Finals Poll: Heat vs. Mavs

I'd like to see Shaq and D Wade win, but I think Dallas will win. -
Through June 4th: I figured this would be a good idea, I'll keep it updated as much as possible, and this hopefully makes it easy to keep track of where we are, as it's going to be a hell of a race. GO SOX!!!

NBA Draft Lottery Thread

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 05:26 AM) IS BEN GONE IN CHI-TOWN?:There continues to be speculation that the Bulls may pull a fast one on draft night and grab Brandon Roy, the 6’5 scoring guard from Washington State, and ultimately trade Ben Gordon for the big body they are supposedly seeking in the draft. One league source speculates that if the Knicks were to offer Channing Fry for Gordon that might be enough to make a deal. Are you effin' kidding me? Draft Roy AND get Channing Frye while dumping Gordon? GET IT DONE PAX!!!
