Here comes Liriano...
I don't constantly refer to him as Johan 2.0 for no reason. This guy is going to be just as much of a b**** to hit as Santana, and it sucks.

I'd rather see Robertson and Rogers and avoid Bonderman, who has shut down stuff and can be unhittable at times. Plus, their best guy in that series (Verlander) is facing Count, which should wash him out. I like the matchups all things considered.

Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread
The media loves to talk about trainwrecks, and the Cubs are one. The Sox have been boring since we've been winning until recently, hence the lack of talk there, pretty simple. And the 2003 point is bulls*** since the Sox weren't a trainwreck at all that year, in fact we had a 2.5 game lead in mid September if I'm not mistaken. The Cubs and Sox will always both be talked about, with a bias towards the Cubs. There is no point fighting it as long as a media monopoly owns the Cubs, all we can do is keep showing up at The Cell, which is what we are seeing this year. However much the media does or doesn't cover the Sox won't affect my enjoyment of them.

NBA Draft Lottery Thread
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) I want Bargnani, though I think he'll go number one. Not sold on Aldrige or TT. Wouldn't be mad about Roy, but don't think he'd be taken at 2 or if Bargnani was still there. I think there's a real good chance Pax trades the pick though. I also find the second pick interesting though, some guys could be there that could help out. Bargnani has the biggest upside in this draft by far, however taking him would also be a big risk. It will be interesting to see how it goes there.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Your NBA MVP: I don't see Kobe, LeBron, Carmelo, or Dwyane Wade in that picture . However seeing a guy who was about the 5th most valuable player in the NBA like that is pretty funny.

And we're off....
Ehh not surprising to see it in the Pacific this early.....and those usually move out to sea anyways correct? I mean Cali hasn't been getting hurricanes lately. However the Atlantic ones are coming too, should be another interesting season down there, people better be ready.

Ugh.....I REALLY like Douby as a player, but the Bulls already have enough undersized 2's, we don't need another one. He's a spectacular shooter though, he'd be an offensive boost at least. *sighs*

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
Well Pods is a bad left fielder, which would mean he's a HORRIBLE center fielder, and Fields has never played left....plus who's to say he can hit MLB pitching. Other than that, this is a great idea.

Clemens Good For Baseball
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) Haha I love how you do that with everything. You go off the deep end with absolutely everything (race, the Cubs, steroids, Frank, Illinois/White Sox losses....shall I go on?), but you put that little tag on everything. So it makes everything all better. :rolly Nope doesn't make things all better at all. And I don't ALWAYS go off the deep end, however anytime I step out I do get ripped on like crazy, not always justified (to me, Clemens is pretty obvious). That's all.

Clemens Good For Baseball
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) And your proof that he's a juicer? A pair of eyes, performance into his 40's, and common sense. I don't have court documents like with Barry, but he's a pretty obvious case. However that won't stop me from being berated for saying it since he's not a hitter.

Ok so we left a game of gained ground on the table tonight, lovely. Cool the Tigers are going to lose, but we still gave away a free game in the standings tonight.

Clemens Good For Baseball
Well other than the fact that he's a juicer that is never called out since he's a pitcher, is playing possum with a bunch of teams and using them all only to get more money from the Astros, and may have waited a bit long to give the Astros their best chance to win......yeah he's great for baseball. lol.

Couple of interesting Soccer stories...
I really enjoy the World Cup, however besides that I can't watch soccer. However interest is on the upswing, but if you want soccer to really blow up here, we have to win the World Cup. If we ever win that thing, that's what will send interest through the roof.

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ May 30, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) But he's still a good hitter.. there are reasons they dont pitch around him.. For May: Hitting for Pujols: 1. Eckstein - .353 AVG, 0 HR, 8 RBI 2. Rodriguez - .321 AVG, 0 HR, 4 RBI 3. Pujols - .286 AVG, 11 HR, 32 RBI 4. Rolen - .316 AVG, 2 HR, 13 RBI 5. Edmonds - .271 AVG, 1 HR, 10 RBI (still hitting bad on the year but driving in runs, he's hurt now!) 6. Encarnacion - .275 AVG, 4 HR, 16 RBI (2nd best hitter on team in May) 7. Molina - .200 AVG, 0 HR, 8 RBI 8. Miles - .319 AVG, 0 HR, 1 RBI Then agan you wanna face anyone besides Pujols even if Rolen or a declining Edmonds can still make you pay.. rather have them beat ya then the MVP of last year and this year so far.. I don't care how good ihs protection is (and it's solid)....I'm walking Pujols unless the bases are loaded if it's a clutch spot late in the game. And even then, I might walk him with the bases loaded if i'm up by 3 or more.

Detroit the city itself is a HELL HOLE. However the Detroit area is very nice overall, suburbs and such. And btw this is not a racial issue AT ALL, I don't care if the people in Detroit itself are white, black, green, blue, purple.....the place is a hellhole.

Rowand returns
Pretty cool. He was really hitting well before the injury, hopefully he gets back to that pace after shaking off the rust.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) oh get real. Oh come on!! If the dude was cursing or being racial or something I could see her becoming angry, but all he did was make a joke about the sun getting in his eyes. Mommy needs to calm down.

Congrats to Jim Thome for #450
Howard has 13 freaking home runs this month and Gio is going to be real good, not sure why ANY Philly fans would be mad at that trade. 13 home runs in 1 month=*mind boggles*

C.C. is due for a bad outing, and I think tonight will be it. The bad news about that is that if I'm right, we're gonna get the "22-3, 32-9, Heads22isanAssclown" bulls*** again .
