NBA Draft Lottery Thread
whitesoxfan101 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If Toronto takes Tyrus, great news. If Toronto takes Aldridge, HORRIBLE news. Pretty much comes down to that, I don't want Stromile Swift part 2 (right down to the same school) on the Bulls, however I really like Aldridge. -
I was there Saturday and his performance in the 9th was impressive. Every fastball he threw was 98 or 99, and he threw a pitch that I couldn't tell if it was a little slider or a straight change, but it came in at about 83 and the hitters were nowhere near it. I'm very encouraged by Matt, but I'm not getting too excited yet. A few more good outings in a row though, and it may be time to put Matt in during bigger spots.

Yes the Bulls get the Knicks pick if it's a better pick next year no matter what pretty much. If it's the #1 pick, hooray Greg Oden but even if it's a senario where the Bulls get like the #8 pick instead of the #18 pick or something, it will really help in a draft as deep as next year's will be. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 23, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) 13-6, 2.54 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 236 K This is a better year than what Dontrelle Willis had last year. This pitcher is currently sucking ass in Charlotte for the White Sox assuming we havn't released his washed up ass yet, I havn't really payed a lot of attention to him after watching him suck in spring training. Just because the great D-Train has 1 very good year does not mean he's a great pitcher like you and others make him out to be. Also, your stupid f***ing comments that you're throwing into every post like this one where you call someones opinion stupid are getting very tiresome. I'm not saying D-Train is great, but basically calling a guy who won 22 on an average team a gimmick pitcher is stupid. That's not a personal shot, as your normally a very good poster plus I don't do personal shots anyways, but that is simply silly to say a guy that had that kind of year (after being a huge reason a team that won the World Series made the playoffs in 2003).
-
Dempster and Ozzie were actually in Florida for a year or two together and are friends, so it's no surprise they made up, just as it's no surprise North is stirring the pot and Offman is screwing up reports.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 23, 2006 -> 06:28 AM) He's really not that good, he's a pretty bad second half pitcher and now that's carrying over to the first half of the season. A crazy ass wind up can only get you so far. :rolly Please....your aware he went 22-10 with a 2.63 and 1.13 last year, as well as 7 CG's and 5 shutouts, for a .500 team last year aren't you? He's off to a terrible start, but that comment is completely stupid.

NBA Conference Finals: Who ya got?
whitesoxfan101 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Mavs will definitely win, the Suns endless flaws will finally catch up with them. Pistons-Heat will be a great series....I hope the Heat win since I'm tired of the damn Pistons, but that series is a toss up. -
Well when your prospects come up and can't hit, your old players become too old, your pitching is underachieving, and nobody on your team can draw a walk....it's not good, and this is the life of the Angels.
-
Oh I agree he looked terrible Flash, and I don't think he was nearly as misquoted as he says he was. I think to an extent North and Dempster are at fault here, but for sure he'll never be on that show again and for sure Dempster wasn't as misquoted as he said he was.
-
I'm still not convinced that there is a single team in the entire National League that is anymore than decent. Maybe the Mets, but that is about it. However in 2 years, the Dodgers are going to be a f***ing b**** when their guys develop.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 22, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) Yeah, if you want to see some nice walks. Whatever you say....this bullpen needs help is all I know, although Nelson is a good start.
-
Well he's never going to be on that show again. North's response tomorrow should be interesting as well. He was freaking GOING OFF on North, that was classic, he was pissed.

Jake Peavy strikes out 16 men in 7 innings tonight, but is pinch hit for because the Padres were down 2-0 as Ryan Langerhans hit a 2 run homer in the 1st (the only ball hit out of the infield all night). Lame. And the Cubs are beaten 9-1 in a game pitched by all former Cubs farmhands, and 2 of the 3 guys they gave up for .267 OBP rent a player Juan Pierre. It's just too funny.

Thank God the Spurs are gone, hopefully Miami knocks out Detroit. Good to know the Western Conference will have a fresh face representing it in the finals. -

The Bulls get the Knicks pick next year if the Knicks finish with a better pick than the Bulls, unless the Knicks pick is 25 to 30 and is better than the Bulls. So the only way the Bulls don't switch picks with the Knicks is if the Bulls and Knicks are both 2 of the best 5 teams it the league, which NO WAY IN HELL happens. -
That's pretty cool. Please Frank just go on from this point forward with class as you seem to have done tonight before and after the game, I want to be able to get myself to stand and cheer when your number is retired eventually.
-
The way it went overall turned out just about perfect, but if you enjoyed Frank's home runs as they happened, then I think your priorities aren't in order. We are in a pennant race, and we need wins.....Frank be damned. Standing ovation was great, but the home runs he hit were not.
-
He's on the way, and I hope Sean Tracey isn't far behind.
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 22, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Haha agreed. I'm happy that he had his success, but it's even sweeter that it came in a White Sox victory. Yeah I was pretty much convinced he was going to hit one to the moon when he came up in that spot. Thank goodness Bobby was able to make the big pitch.
-
QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Frank's really sending a message to kenny eh??? Please don't.....just no he's not, not at all. But that first AB was pretty cool, especially looking back on it now since we won the game. I must admit also looking back it was the right thing to do giving him the appreciation, glad the crowd (and sell out at that) reacted that way.
-
I'm just glad he didn't deliver the death blow in the 10th.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

Welp that win washes out the shoulda had game yesterday. One of the worst matchups of the year pitching wise, a guy hitting freaking .175 goes yard twice and 3 for 5, we're down 4-0 and 4-1 after 7 and a half, and we still get a win. Amazing job boys, this is a BALLS win tonight, f***ing overcoming it all. YES! -

That's pretty cool. I'd LOVE to see the Bulls get Roy, but I doubt it happens. Bargnari wouldn't be a popular pick since he's a Euro, but he could be REALLY REALLY good, but he's not an immediate impact player. I am worried that Thomas might be Stromile Swift 2.0, but I'll take anybody over Morrison. -
Maisel's Post-Spring Top 25
whitesoxfan101 replied to danman31's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
NIU has a brutal OOC with games at Ohio State and Iowa which I expect to both be losses, but hey those are bonus games anyways since we are in the MAC. The conference schedule is favorable in the sense that NIU doesn't play Bowling Green and gets Toledo in DeKalb, but the season IMO will be decided in a 3 game road trip in late September and early October. NIU has to play at an improving Ball State, at Miami of Ohio, and at Western Michigan who is also very much improved and went 7-5 last year. If NIU can go 2-1 in that stretch, they should be playing for a trip to the MAC Title game when they host Toledo. And since the MAC has at least 3 and maybe 4 bowl bids this year, a MAC West Title actually gets you into a bowl no matter what this time. Should be a fun season, as NIU has a 1st round pick in Doug Free at OT, a 1st day pick in stud RB Garrett Wolfe, a young and talented corps of WR's and a young and very talented defense overall. This could be the best NIU team of this decade short of the 2003 team, which is saying a lot based on the success. -
Alrighty so the NBA Draft Lottery will be held tomorrow night, I believe during halftime of the Heat/Pistons Game 1 Matchup. Actually it might be before the game too, but either way it is during that game tomorrow night. Hopefully the ping pong balls are friendly to the Knicks (Bulls) and the Bulls get a big time player with that pick. Just NO ADAM MORRISON PLEASE!!
