  1. Pods problem is he must be 100 percent healthy to be able to run at full strength, and he must be able to run at full strength to be a good baseball player. Without speed, Pods is a terrible baseball player with no noticeable legit MLB skill. Combine that with the fact he was in and out of the lineup and his swing is off, and you have what you saw this week.
  2. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Griese is not that good anymore, you might see him sooner than later. WhiteSoxJosh, is that you? Should that have been in green?
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Dodie Dunson apparently committs to ISU. Yep, he will be a solid player for Iowa State. Was originally a Illinois State verbal before not qualifying and heading to prep school last year. Not a standout superstar or anything, but he will help.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) You have it all wrong. Rush is trying his best to go pro, but everyone is telling him that he sucks, and needs to wait another year.. But, knowing the debauchery that is the Rush family, Self is covering his ass just in case. "Coaches know I'm coming in for one year, putting up numbers, then going pro" - Brandon Rush He's gone the moment he's a lotto pick, and due to the lack of ability in this draft, he is one (even though he's not ready for the NBA yet").
  5. In a shocker Kansas is recruiting a JUCO wing player due to concerns that Brandon Rush may indeed go pro. Or in other words, Rush is hearing he will be a lotto pick and wants to go pro if he can get a guarantee from an NBA team. http://kansas.scout.com/2/517395.html
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 09:03 AM) Actually conference is the tiebreaker, not division record. Division record would make no sense for teams playing in different divisions. Scroll down: http://www.nba.com/statistics/playoff_picture.html#tb Damn, thanks for the correction. The AP writer that wrote the thing on the Bulls game should be fired, he said division record is the tiebreaker. Well in that case, the Bulls have the tiebreaker over Philly, so good news.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) I can see the Bulls beating the Hawks and Raptors, but the other 4 (Nets, Wizards, Heat, Magic) will be tough. 2-4 is very, very possible for them. 76ers should beat the Bobcats, but have 5 tough games. They should take 2-4 if they can get it. Which means Orlando would have to win 6 to tie (dunno what happens with tie-breaker), or 7 to pass both. They have 7 to play. True, but you still have to play at Miami, San Antonio, and Indiana, as well as home games against desperate Philly and Chicago teams. The next 2 games for you after tomorrow (at home against Atl and Toronto) should be easy wins though. As for tiebreaker, it's head to head followed by division record if head to head is tied. For example, the Bulls and Philly split their 4 games, so you go to the 2nd tiebreaker, which Philly will have since they are 8-6 (and could finish no worse than 8-8) in the division and the Bulls are all done at 4-12. As for your Magic, they are 1-2 against the Bulls. If you were to beat the Bulls in the final meeting, it would go to the division tiebreaker, which the Magic would win since you could finish no worse than 7-9 in your division. But a Bulls win gives them the tiebreaker since they would win head to head 3-1, so that's a must win game obviously. With Philly, the Magic have a 2-1 record in head to head. So a win against them gives you the tiebreaker over them with a 3-1 head to head win, but a loss to Philly means it goes to division record. The Magic are 7-7 with games at Miami and vs. Atlanta left (should finish 8-8) while the Sixers are 8-6 and have a home and home with New Jersey left. Got it? Probably not, but I tried.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Wow the Bulls lost to Philly and they didn't even have Webber. Now things get interesting, real interesting. Boston are 3 games back, and Orlando 3.5 back with about 6-7 games left to play. And both are finished, unless the Bulls and Philly both go 2-4 or worse. But at the same time, the Bulls effort was pathetic tonight, even without Deng. They made things way harder than they had to be.
  9. I don't think Paxson would be a big fan of Noah at all. Somebody taller than 6'8 who can actually score points.
  10. I found this story to be even more disturbing: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml...xportaltop.html
  11. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) I picked them to win it Good move. As long as the kids (Weeks, Hardy, and Fiedler) play close to their potential, they clearly have the best team in that division. It's just not a lot of people can get themself to say it since they are the Brewers. Also, Ben Sheets made a rehab start I believe last night and should be back soon.
  12. QUOTE(Yoda @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) The Brewers are off to a hot start. They beat the D'Backs to improve to 5-0. Carlos Lee hit a single off Luis Vizcaino to win it in the bottom of the ninth. Lee has hit in every game so far this season. They are going to win that division, and it's going to be funny when so many people are surprised by it.
  13. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) I believe them more than I do Sean May last year, saying the same thing. We'll just have to wait and see though. True. Also, if they do end up leaving, it doesn't make them bad people or liars, it makes them both smart and human. College will always be there, the millions of guaranteed dollars may not be.
  14. Not sure why we should care what the worst president since FDR says a quarter century after he left office.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) The Pirates gave him Ramirez not even because Ramirez was expensive at the time. They gave him Ramirez because the Pirates are idiots. Oh really? I thought he was in the last year of his deal and they didn't want to have to pay him, but also didn't want to lose him for nothing. They are even dumber than I thought in that case.
  16. It's fine if you dissed me, I am just not good with message board sarcasm. My best female friend in high school was raped, and subsequently went through the "it's your fault for putting yourself in that situation" bull s***, so it's a bit of a sensitive subject for me. Guess it's why I tend to take the girls side in these kind of cases, to a fault since often times they are lying.
  17. Blow this team up? Hell no. Blow this bullpen up? Hell yes.
  18. I'll believe it when I see it. They are going to turn down an awful lot of money and avoid being the hot commodities in a pathetic draft class to return.
  19. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) Cubs always do this s*** announcements on Saturaday's so they have to take less heat in media for there decisions. :puke Ehh not here, most Cubs fans like Hendry because of the great 2003 season
  20. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) But the Phillies "gave" Thome to the Sox and the D-Backs "gave" Vazquez to the Sox for basically the same reason. Plus, KW once traded for a guy of the wrong name. Does that make KW a bad GM? I don't think so. Hendry made those moves to help his team, regardless of the other team's motives. Any GM who could turn the horrific Todd Hundley into Mark Grudzielanek and Eric Karros is doing something right. He's a decent GM - not a genius, not a hack. He was worth re-upping with. We gave up an everyday MLB CF for Thome, and we gave up one of the game's top prospects, a solid bullpen arm, and a pitcher who, although old, is one of the best ever in big games for Vasquez. Hendry didn't have to give up NEARLY that much for Lee, Pierre, or Ramirez, but rather benefitted from desperate teams. Good deals are ones that look even at the time but turn out well for you, not when you get a great player in a salary dump. The Cubs followed up 2003 with a choke job in 2004 and a pathetic 2005. But hey if a 3-1 start in 2005 means time to re up the GM, good for them. I really don't care about that team anymore, but they could have a much better GM than Hendry, however the fact that he's average makes the Cubs excited due to their pathetic history, so whatever.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:26 AM) Probably that he absolutely rakes in the 2 hole and that he'll see a ton of fastballs hitting in front of the murderers row that is the heart of the phillies order. Not saying I'd do it but you can make a point for it. True, I believe that strategy worked for us in 2004 when he hit over .300 in the 2 hole. But still, he's worthless in the 2 hole unless he rakes since Row never walks, and at the same time the Phillies have too much talent to be hitting Rowand #2. Rowand as a #6 in the NL is damn good, put him there.
  22. He's just as bad as Baker, but since the Pirates gave him Ramirez and the Marlins gave him Lee and Pierre for nothing out of desperation to dump expensive players, people don't realize it for some reason. Great news here if you dislike the Cubs.
  23. I refuse to call anybody calling out a conspiracy a "tinfoil hatter" if the story involves the words Chicago, Venezuela, and politics.
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) Hot Button! Hot Button! That's why I sarcastically said it. I figured the face at the end would gave away the sarcasm, but maybe I should have been more clear. It's just sad I had to be more obvious to prove it was sarcasm, guess it proves some people would actually think it's the girls fault for getting raped if she went back in again. And if you think that, your really not very smart.
  25. lol if you couldn't tell my post was sarcasm, yikes. I thought about putting it in green but I figured nobody could be dumb enough to think I was serious.
