BUMP. Everybody must read this column, it is the dumbest thing ever and the EPITOME of the Cub attitude.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) Why would that make anyone nervous?? Confuses me a bit to be honest. I guess maybe because they'd have nothing to make fun of in regards to the Illini if the football team was adequate?

Mejia and Chandler are beasts for DePaul. Got several other nice players, Wainwright seems to be doing a nice job. Then again, the only DePaul games I've watched this year besides this one was their loss at NIU I attended and their win at Wake. 32-29 Blue Demons at the half. Pitt 1 of only 3 unbeatens left in the nation btw.

Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer
A bit of a random off topic question, but how many games do you listen to on the radio anyways? Between directv, local tv, games mostly at night and/or on weekends......I hardly ever listen to games because I either have it on tv at home, or am out doing something.

I think it is pretty clear that the thought of Illinois even having an adequate football program to go with the basketball program makes fans of other Big Ten teams extremely nervous (that's not a shot at those here, it's obvious anywhere you go and bring this subject up).

Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer
QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) Since the second that the Rooney news broke, it's simply amazed me how angry people got upset about the whole radio announcing team. In today's age of the satellite dish, I could care less about who's doing the announcing. Chris Singleton is a good guy, and the Sox organization LOVES him. Many people within the organization regret letting him go a few years ago, as it had a negative effect on the clubhouse for a few years. At first, I was a bit annoyed at the Score being cheap, but that was just knee jerk. Chris is smart and knows the game, and is young enough to bring a new perspective to the booth that even DJ couldn't bring his first year in the booth since Singleton is only in his 20's even now. As long as he learns on the job well and adjust, I think he will be fine. My biggest concern is that Chris has some excitement and energy, we need it to conteract Farmer, who is simply boring to listen to outside of September and October.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) s***ty coaching of awesome players > Decent coaching of s***ty players Fact of the matter this football program is significantly better with Zook over Turner. Bingo. People fail to realize how big a deal a 6-5 season and bowl bid would be in Champaign. Mediocre would be a tenfold improvement.

Actually, after further review, check out next weeks Illini visitor list: http://illinois.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=500613 Ramone Johnson: 4 star OL Kenny Britt: 4 star WR Jeff Cumberland: 4 star ATH Chris Duvalt: 4 star CB Michael Crabtree: 4 star ATH Plus, 2 star ATH Michael Johnson of Texas (has 4.44 speed) and a top 25 player in Ohio, DB Ray Fisher....who are not listed in that article.

Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer
Yeah, we'd know what were getting with Lyons.....a clueless retard who tries too hard to be funny. I probably would have prefered Tommy John, but you know the unknown with Chris is interesting, maybe he'll turn out to be really good, as opposed to TJ, who we knew would be decent, but nothing spectacular.

Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer
The one thing I will say about Chris; he doesn't lack the intelligence or knowledge to do this job. He's a very smart and well spoken guy, and if he can articulate that in the booth, he will be a great hire. My only beef is he's very young and has no experience. I won't compare him to DJ though, IMO he's better spoken and will be much more exciteable.

Zooker and the Illini have a few visitors heading to town this weekend: 1. WR Anthony Jones: 6'0/164/4.57. 3 star on Rivals, #46 WR, was preseason #31 player from Florida before transfering to Arlington, Texas for senior season. Lists Illini and Tennessee as co-favorites. 2. S Donsay Hardeman: 6'1/192/4.74. 3 star on Rivals, #33 Safety, preseason #62 player in the state of Florida (Jacksonville). Lists Illini as favorite. 3. WR Devin Parrish: 6'0/155/4.48. 3 star on Rivals, unranked nationally and in state (Florida, Miramar). Lists Illini as favorite. Interesting to see if any/all give the Illini verbals after visiting, as they all have Illinois very high on their lists. Lord knows Zooker could use some more of those "speed state" recruits, although I'm not sure how many schollies we have left, can't be many.

Damn did the Score go cheap. I hope Chris does well, but replacing John freaking Rooney with a guy that PLAYED in the majors LAST YEAR? The Score sucks....

Letter to fans from Paul Konerko
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) Eh Konerko will never have Frank's torch.... not in my eyes. For the die hards like us on this site, that's a fact. I'd say most everybody here agrees with that. However, in general, Paulie is the big bopper that carried our offense to a World Title (obviously with the pitching doing the big work of course), Paulie is the guy that will IMO be here until he retires, Paulie is the guy carrying the torch into the new era of White Sox baseball, and Paulie is a GREAT guy and people now know that. I love Frank, but Paulie if he plays like he can through this contract will end up the most popular and one of the best White Sox of them all.

Carry a condom or pay a fine
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Working to stop inappropriate behavior is the way to stop the spread of HIV. Giving condoms to 15-year-olds who shouldn't be having sex anyway isn't. Sex is inappropriate?

Bears songs
http://www.bighitbuda.com/downloads.html The song on that page "We Da Bears" is real good, and you can download it off there. It also has a pretty good Illini song, if you like them.

Carry a condom or pay a fine
Just because they carry them doesn't mean they are going to use them. If your dumb enough to not use protection, you deserve what you get. Or they could put secret cameras everywhere and have special police run in with tear gas if the guy isn't using a rubber.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Well actually I'm teetering from not getting my hopes up for a berth, to now believing we have a legitamate chance, especially with the ACC being down. I thought this team would struggle alot on the road, but they actually have played well, outside of 25 turnovers last game. Yeah, and plus the Heels are very balanced. Hansbrough is a STUD who is difficult to handle for anybody, you get very solid work from the upperclassmen Noel and Terry, who have both REALLY stepped up as they have finally got big minutes this year, and the rest of the young crew, although not putting up huge numbers, are solid contributors. Roy has done as good a job coaching this team as any I can remember going back to when he first got to Kansas. Although I'm an Illini fan, I like Roy and respect the job he does as a coach, so I can't really dislike UNC....even after last year.
