QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) I am. And I'll add that they are idiots as well. I've never been a women so I wouldn't know personally, but I'll take your word for it. It sure seems like you'd have to be weak minded to be that concerned with looks and weight. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Call me what you will, but the thing that depresses me isn't that good looking, properly curvy women get turned into walking sticks. OK, well, that depresses me a little. But what bothers me more is that any person feels the need to be that concerned about their weight or their looks to begin with. Honestly, I wish people wouldn't make such a big deal about 10 pounds here or that curve there. Want to change your body? Great, have at it. Should someone else feel like a loser if they aren't magazine material? Uh, no. Very good points. I have gotten into so many debates with women and friends and such about those things. You don't have to be a stick figure and always worry about a few pounds of weight to be attractive. But sadly that's what a lot of women seem to think, and you can't convince them otherwise. Although I guess it could definitely be said these women are just too self-consious and weak minded, but i'm not quite harsh enough to say that. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) Novak will never be a superstar, but he's a great shooting SF who will give you around 15 ppg. I will admit, his passing skills and defense are laughable. Exactly, and I'm not dissing the kid. A 6'10 forward who can sometimes shoot the lights out is very valuable, but that is about the extent of Novak's skills. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Hollywood did it...?? Like.. the sign..? :rolly Hollywood doesn't do s***. Spineless weak cowardly females (and males) who fail to use the gray matter in their skulls do this to themselves. One can be skinny without using drugs and throwing up. Plain and simple, they are too stupid and pathetic to do it the right way. Well there is a big difference between skinny and anorexic. I really didn't express it right, Hollywood didn't do it at all. It's just, you see woman after woman head into hollywood with a real body and looking great, and they turn into skeletons with 10 pounds of makeup on their face and drug problems. It's amazing what people will do to themselves if they think it will make them money. -

I will say this about Marquette. The 2 freshman guards, Dominic James and Jerel McNeal, are both ballers. It's a shame it came down to either/or with Jamar Smith and Jerel McNeal for the Illini, by all accounts McNeal grew up a big Illini fan and wanted to play in Champaign. I just hope he doesn't turn out like another South Suburban product the Illini didn't go after who ended up playing at Marquette for 3 years, leading them to a final four, and is now playing for the Miami Heat... -

This is why Hollywood sucks.....it takes good look women and turns them into coke snorting skeletons. I'll take women that you know....eat their food and don't throw it up, have real boobs, make good decisions involving their health and life in general. But then again, I'm boring. -
http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/newsArticl..._0_UK-LOHAN.xml I'm shocked by this news. In all seriousness though, it's a shame. Before she got mega skinny and her boobs went bye bye, she was a pretty fine piece.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) A one dimensional player that basically beat Uconn by himself. Yeah, i'd hate to have him on my team too. I was sitting in the Assembly Hall as freshman Rich McBride hit seven 3 pointers to defeat a top 15 ranked team from Memphis. Is Rich a nice player? Yes, but just because he had a great game doesn't make him some All American. -

I don't think this will be the epic ESPN says it will be, but it's not going to be a blowout....the game will at least be decent. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) I love Steve Novak, he's about to take the career FT title away from JJ Redick and is arguably the better shooter. Novak is a perfect 33-33 from the line this year to bring his career average up to 92.8%, while Redick sits at right around 93%, but only 87% on the year. Novak is also a career 47% 3 point shooter, and UNC turned him down for Byron Sanders and Damion Grant He's SUCH a one dimensional player.....he doesn't pass, rebound, or play defense, so on nights where the shot doesn't go in (which happen to him more than you'd think) he's worthless. I wouldn't cry over not having him too much. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) Seriously though, how many people think Joe Pa is actually coaching? I really dont think he knows what year it is. It seems to me that he is an image, a public figure and the assistants are doing all the real work. Oh definitely, I agree. IMO the reason Penn State is getting good again is JoePa is now nothing more than a figurehead used for a recruiting advantage when needed....otherwise, he just has his smart assistants doing all the work. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) yeah, that's what I've been thinking. They had a ton of seniors on this years team, so they are going to be relatively young next year, IIRC. They won't be as good next year as they were this year, but don't expect a 2000-2004 level fall for Penn State. The Lions are starting to clean up on the recruiting trail like the old days, so they should mantain bowl bid calibur teams from now on, and every once in a while have a season similar to this year. -

Kirilenko is really a one of a kind player.....if he can develop ANY outside shot (he can't shoot for s*** right now) he will be a top 5 in the league superstar imo. -
My old fearless prediction on this draft is that I have said Matt Leinart is the left handed Ken Dorsey since he first got the QB job at USC, and I will say his NFL career will be similar to the mediocre one Dorsey is having, only with more media attention. Feel free to fire away at me now.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) I'd rather him have done exactly what he did and not say anything versus giving out wrong information like the moron Gov did. Yeah good point. I am just miffed that something like this could happen in the year 2006, that being this blatent a miscommunication. Somebody really messed up here, and it will be interested to see who it was and why they did it.

Rose Bowl tonight!! I haven't been this excited for a college football game probably since the last undefeated title game with tOSU and DA U, which ended up being a double OT classic. -
Well by all accounts I'm reading, it sounds like the coal company CEO is to blame big time here. He knew 20 minutes after it was said they were alive that they weren't, but kept quiet for almost 3 hours because "he wanted to be sure they were dead". PLEASE!! 3 hours?? That's pathetic, this whole thing is a total disaster....which is sad, because it takes the spotlight off what we should be talking about, which is the joke that is mining safety and how much it needs to improve.
-
Somebody is going to pay for this one....either somebody is an idiot for causing miscommunication, or somebody was putting out bulls*** information. Either way, this simply cannot happen, 3 hours of thinking your family is alive, only to find out oops!! sorry, we had it wrong, they are dead. That CANNOT happen, period.
-
It sounds like something simple, like somebody said 12 died and it was interpreted as 12 survived or something like that.....I really dislike the media, but nobody is going to falsely spread word that 12 survived, nobody is that cruel. However, this is flat out embarassing for the national media....I still thought 12 of 13 were alive until I entered this thread just now. People need to MAKE SURE their facts are straight before reporting it. It seemed too good to be true last night.....this is a very dangerous job and the situation sounded real bad. RIP to all the victims, and prayers to the familes.

As a person who's been in the middle of a 3.6 earthquake, I can tell you that most of those people probably didn't even notice it as it happened. But yes, the New Madrid fault is always forgotten and sadly it will stay that way until it causes a significant quake like the 1811 one.

I love the "definitely a Marquis signing" headline on Chicago Sports. The agenda of those people is something else...
