  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) ESPN shifted the talk from Chicago to Boston ... Wow. I'm shocked. Yeah, ESPN still considers anything west of the Appalachians the "final frontier" so amen to that.
  2. Today's game reaffirmed to me why I thought the Bears would have no chance at winning a single playoff game with Kyle Orton at QB. There isn't a single legit NFL throw in the book he can make, regardless of if he's surrounded by backups.
  3. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) Agreed. The Independence Bowl...that's on the level of bragging over winning the NIT if your a college hoops fan.
  4. Tisdale is official to the Illini btw, per Rivals (Illini page).
  5. I still don't get how the Cubs are a contender to get Tejada.....he said he wants to go to a team that can win.
  6. QUOTE(Spiff @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) take that tennmart True, but 27-1 is still vicious.
  7. Nomar was hitting like .425 or some s*** last Spring for the Flubs IIRC....came out and hit about .150 the first few weeks of April, then tore his hamstring trying to get out of the batters box on a ground ball. I hate spring training, I know the players need it, but as a fan, all I see it as is a month of meaningless games and a chance for people to get hurt.
  8. QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) NU totally blew that one. Well another year and another year without a bowl win. Might be NU's last bowl game for a year or two, who knows what their QB situation is gonna look like. Sutton will have to carry the load, it will be interesting. Teams are probably going to be able to key on him without the balance in the NU offense. True on all counts, NU blew it, and that's how Walker does it at NU because that's how he has to do it. He builds the program up so that they have a really good team every few years (at least by NW standards). Not too bad a strategy to be honest considering what he has to work with.
  9. Sure nice of the first 3 Big 10 bowl teams to all piss away games they should have won, we Big 10 fans really do appreciate it. :banghead
  10. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) I agree with everything but Texas beating them. USC got lucky and were able to duck some opponents. It's amazing that they think they'll beat everyone in college sports. Um no. There defense isn't even top 10 in history. They would get stopped be teams inferior to the ones that are mentioned. I hope Texas beats them. Herbstreit and that other jack will luck so f'n stupid after the s*** they've been proclaiming for the past couple of weeks. Maybe it's more hope in regards to Texas, but I firmly believe what I said about LSU in 2003 and Auburn in 2004. All I know is that Miami, like USC, headed into the title game (in 2002) with a 34 game winning streak and as defending champs (albeit only 1 time because they got screwed in 2000, else they'd have also been going for 3 in a row) and they didn't get NEARLY this kind of hype. And Miami had to play WAY WAY WAY better competition during their streak than USC has played during theirs. Maybe ESPN and their hype for ratings nonsense has just gotten that much worse the last few years, or maybe they are just showing their USC woody to try and drew viewers from the huge SoCal market, who knows.
  11. For the love of God, SOMEBODY needs to get Tejada. I can't handle all the non-stop Tejada talk and speculation by so many fan bases, media people, etc.....it's giving me a headache.
  12. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Problem is it's not that big of a homecourt advantage when 1/4 of the crowd is wearing orange. It was about half orange last year, so Iowa is making progress if it's only 1/4 for this years game.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Yep. Oregon loses w/o their starting QB. UCLA beats NW. Northwestern and their non existent defense with an EPIC collapse today. And Oregon is still immensly overrated, and still lost yesterday. The Pac 10 is still horrid.
  14. Northwestern leads UCLA 22-0 in the 1st quarter, and Maurice Drew is hurt. PAC 10 PRIDE!!
  15. "Come on dude, you can't take the glove away from Marquis!"
  16. QUOTE(rangercal @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) Unless Garland was aware of it before he signed. I think that would be a very negative move for our organazation. You don't trade a guy after he signed with us for a bargain price (compared to what he would have received on the market 1 year from now) Don't expect any more "hometown discounts" for a while if we did that. Umm doesn't Garland have a no trade through the 1st year of his deal? As for this....I love Uribe and Count but i'd trade them if it brings Miguel freaking Tejada. However, at the same time....if this deal doesn't happen, I'm just as happy with this team the way it is now.
  17. Good Lord, I thought the monster had finally died..... *sighs*
  18. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Ok so their conference is practically a joke then right? Yep. Oregon lost tonight to a down OU team, and UCLA will lose tomorrow to Northwestern.
  19. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) They fit the bill of a bunch of talented boneheads who will tense up when the pressure is applied. When was the last time Memphis did anything in the tourney anyhow? What does the past have to do with now? Calipari has put together an awesome team, and to be honest the only reason I think your slamming them is the fact your afraid of them.
  20. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) I didn't hear a lot of b****ing at all.... Then you need to open your ears. Oregon made quite a fuss over not getting a BCS bid, and of course being the good soliders of the PAC 10, went on to lose a lesser bowl to a lesser team.
  21. lol...thank God Oregon lost, else i'd look dumb. This continues the longstanding tradition of teams that b**** like pathetic babies about not getting a BCS bid going on to lose their bowl game.
  22. The PAC 10 and USC are sooooo overrated.....showing it again tonight. I can't wait until Texas wins it all in a week. Is USC winning 34 in a row damn good? Yes....but the 90's Nebraska and Miami teams of a few years ago were both better IMO.
  23. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) I have them pegged for a second round exit when they face a fundamental team who capitalizes off of their mistakes. They will also have few challenges in the conference and I think they could get complacent if they blow every team they face out, which is a good possibility in Conference USA. There is no way Memphis doesn't make it to the 2nd weekend of the tourney with that talent. None.
  24. If i've learned one thing, it's that speculating is pointless since Kenny is just going to do something none of us have a clue is coming anyways. I'll just trust Kenny and see what happens. Oh, and 500 posts, I rule......not.
