  1. The next good value bullpen signing this offseason will be the first. Just another horrible deal.
  2. Yet another case of pathetic black leadership with no clue. It's amazing in sports, as an athlete your either too black or "not black enough". It's really sad and a no win situation. Donovan is a class guy (from Chicago no less) and a great teammate and player, and this is just a joke.
  3. There we go again. The NCAA looking out for the big time programs with history and such.....if this were Illinois, Morris is gone for the season, and the Illini are on probation. The NCAA is really beyond a fraud, it's quite sad.
  4. Trading a PROVEN NBA 4 for a HS kid that COULD be a really good 5 will never make sense to me. Ever.
  5. Another point I forgot. Outside of Chicago/NW Indiana....there aren't a lot of Sox fans nationwide, as opposed to the Cubs who have fans ALL OVER THE PLACE. So overall, the Cubs probably have more fans....but in this area it's pretty even and we may even have a slight advantage.
  6. The Brand for Tyson trade pretty much looks just like it did 4 years ago the day it happened: horrible. IMO it was the worst move Krause ever made (which is saying something).
  7. Don't worry guys. The first sign of trouble next season, Marriotti will be the guy writing the column about how the Sox were too liberal this offseason and should not have broken up the World Champion team.
  8. IMO there are as many White Sox fans as Cubs fans in terms of raw numbers, but the Cubs will draw more fans for 2 reasons. 1. For the most part, their fans simply have more money. That's not to say our fans are poor, but Cubs fans usually are quite wealthy by what I've seen. 2. The Cubs play in a damn amusement park, and if they want to continue playing in that hellhole to draw fans, fine....just keep losing!
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Tim Belcher is quite alive. Ahh....after a google search, I see it's former Baltimore Oriole Steve Bechler who died of ephedra use. Not sure what I was thinking, I need some sleep clearly.
  10. Not sure if this has been adressed yet (if so, sorry) but soxtalk is now over 981,000 total posts. With the way some of you spam it up around here I think the site's 1 millionth post can't be all that far off. What does that mean?? Ehh not a damn thing to be honest, but hey....it's a cool milestone for this place.
  11. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) I just remember he was really short. Tim Belcher Isn't he dead?
  12. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-home-utility Great job, best line in the column BY FAR was: Amen!!
  13. How can anybody forget when Mike Caruso hit a homer into the basket at Wrigley back in the late 90's to win a long rain delayed game in extra innings?? I remember.....because I was there!
  14. The only reason I remember Lyle Mouton to be honest is I remember hearing Gene Honda saying "BATTING NEXT.......LYLE MOUTON!!!!" blaring from the speakers as I sat in the UD watching the Sox as a kid one summer day.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) Injuries, that's honestly the one thing I remember about him because I really thought he was going to be a very solid pitcher. MIKE PORZIO. Some bum lefty that only saw the light of day in MLB because he was a lefty pitcher.... LYLE MOUTON.
  16. So Monmouth (NJ) scored 41 in their game tonight. Sucks doesn't it?? Yeah....except their opponent (Princeton) scored 21....in the whole game. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=253480163 Princeton shot a mind boggling 22 percent (9-41) from the field and split their only 2 foul shots, while shooting 10 percent (2-20) from 3. 2 great quotes. "Obviously, we just couldn't score," Princeton coach Joe Scott said. "The zone gave us tons of problems." and Princeton went scoreless for a 14:54 stretch in the second half after going 7:14 without a point in the first half. Unreal.
  17. Yeah, I'm trembling in suspense as we find out which team Nomar will play 50 games for while being injured all year.
  18. That idea is garbage, that Cubbie fluff piece by Paul Sullivan that it came from is garbage....and after reading that, Carlos Lee is garbage. The Cubs simply will NEVER learn....and that's ok by me!
  19. Good to know that there is a God.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) you are assuming that KW has made this team A LOT better. PITCHING PITCHING PITCHING + STRONG UP THE MIDDLE + TIMELY HITS i would say were bigger contributions to the WS run of 11 out of 12 than what you claim....of luck, fate, & overcoming shortcomings? i think that the only way OUR team really tails off is if OUR core pitching staff gets hit with injury, self complacency, greed or is traded away. Yeah. The departure of mental midget Marte, Jizzcan (with B Mac in his spot?? hell yeah), and the replacement of Duque with Vasquez makes our pitching better. We are the same up the middle except for Anderson, who will be better than Rowand. And I'm sure Jim freaking Thome will come up with juuust a few big hits. I think we are significantly better right now than we were last year. As great as we were last season, I think we can win it all in 2006, and not need all the breaks we got last year to do it. And to say Kenny is evil for breaking up the team is simply uninformed and stupid.
  21. I only have one thing to say about this thread. The man who started it is completely insane, as is anybody who agrees with him. Kenny is making this team A LOT better. Kenny KNOW a lot of luck, fate, and overcoming shortcomings is how we won last year....so he's making us better instead of resting on his laurels. And if you are dumb enough to not get that, go root for the Cubs. They will continue to be afraid to be daring, and therefore continue to lose. Have a nice day!
  22. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) how? Vizcaino is a Mop Up guy. You can find those anywhere. El Duque is the guy I didn't want to give up however you have to give up something to get something. Plus Young is a Prospect. Prospects=Suspects. There have been a ton of great prospects for the Sox like Olivo, Borchard, and Diaz. What have they done? Yes. And the biggest thing we gave up for a future HOF'er in Thome was Aaron Rowand, who Brian Anderson is going to be better than anyways. And we dumped a mental midget for the best utility man in baseball. I swear, people are just LOOKING for reasons to panic even now with our World Champion GM.
  23. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) I'd still take Lee. I'l take last years World Championship and a very real chance to repeat over Carlos Lee, thanks.
