Not weird at all man. With the way this team was built last year (and will be this year) I can think you can have easily a dozen favorite players. It is just a bunch of likeable guys that play their ass off, so it's hard to just pick one favorite.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Who gives a f*** about the bench? I wouldn't have been You sir, clearly didn't start watching us until the playoffs. Ozzie uses EVERYBODY on the bench A LOT during the regular season to keep everybody fresh, and in fact may have been one of the main reasons why we were so dominant in the playoffs. Other teams may have been a bit tired, but our starters were well rested, and damn it if we didn't go 11-1 to win the World Series!! Also, we have 1 VERY GOOD lefty out of the pen in Cotts, that's 1 more than the Angels have, and I don't here people dissing their bullpen. The armchair QB's on here are amazing, I didn't even think you all would be able to spin trading a mental midget RP losing velocity and getting older, while having 2 straight inconsistent years, for arguably the best utility/supersub in the game. Please, just trust Kenny. He's already got it done once for us, and he will do it again at some point in the not too distant future.

Haha....I so underestimate the popularity of NASCAR and Country Music, since I am never around people that are fans of either of them very often. Damn being from the city....

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Yes, we do. Obesity is a HUGE problem. It leads to so many health problems and kills way more people than smoking. These health problems cost a lot of money which is passed on to everyone else. Drunks obviously are the source of most DUI accidents. Drunks also do damage property and cause fights. Ask any Chicago cop about when most fights occur, on the weekend when people are drunk. It's an interesting point and I can see that side of the argument. Just easier to see the direct effect of 2nd hand smoke in my case, than those effects since I don't drink and weigh 170 pounds. I just think the right to healthy air and making a smoker go outside holds more water than letting people just smoke wherever they choose and ruin the breating air for everybody else. And I REALLY don't buy the "don't go there" argument, since it's pretty hard to find a place to go out to eat at that is smoke free.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Dammit, I knew it was that damned MTV. More proof that the Real World is destroying America. I would really respect MTV a lot more if they changed their name. That channel has almost nothing to do with music anymore except the music awards show they do one time a year.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) What about the kids who watch CMT? The majority of them live in the South, go to a school that wants to ban evolution, and are locked into republican beliefs for life anyways. That isn't necesarily a good thing either, but I really don't think the number of kids that watch CMT is in the same area code as those that watch MTV.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) not neccesarily Some would argue that people who eat fatty food and become obese drive up health care costs, which affects us all. People who get drunk causing accidents, start fights and damage propert. Evil devil music makes kids go crazy and shoot up a school, commit suicide, ect. Do we have overwhelming proof of all this, like we do that second hand smoke directly affects a persons health in a negative way, even though they don't smoke.

So many HS age kids are against Bush because they watch MTV all the damn time and their anti anything republican propaganda gets in their head. (And sadly, I'm not kidding).

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) But it sets a slippery slope of "I'm sorry SoxFan101, you can't have that alcohol because somebody else thinks it is bad." or "I'm sorry SoxFan101, you can't listen to that music because somebody thinks it is offensive" or "I'm sorry SoxFan101, you can't eat that because somebody was offended at the way it was made." You get to make the choice to put yourself in the situation where you know there will be smoking going on. If you don't like that establishment's choice -- then voice your opinion with your dollars and don't go there. Meh, I disagree. It's extremely difficult to go out anywhere anymore without somebody smoking. It's one thing to allow people to listen to what they want for music and eat what they want and drink what they want, because it doesn't affect those of us that choose otherwise. However when you can't even take your family out to get a meal without having to inhale toxin infected smoke, it's a problem. I have no problem with somebody smoking, but go do it somewhere where people don't have to suffer the consequences of it that the smoker chooses to ignore.

Orioles again spending money just for the sake of spending money. Angelos is such a clown..... Writing was on the wall though for Hernandez to be signing somewhere other than San Diego imminently with that baffling move by the Padres to dump Loretta for Doug freaking Mirabelli.

Grossman Upgraded to 2nd string

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Tell me what's right about a QB who has a rating of 60 and couldn't complete a pass while playing catch. AHH WE'RE WINNING, KEEP ORTON AT QB AND WADE RETURNING PUNTS!!! People become so amazingly stupid when their team is doing well, and are so afraid to change anything in the fear it will mess up the hot play....even if it means replacing something bad with something better. -
After the wild inconsistencies (and clubhouse issues) Marte has shown the last 2 years....not sure how you can be unhappy with us getting rid of him, unless your one of those guys that thinks we should have brought all 25 guys from last year back simply because they won it all.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Where is Villone even playing at these days? Any chance he'd be available in a trade? (Maybe for a former top draft pick with a lot of power but a lot of strikeouts?) He's on the Marlins and makes money.....so he's available.
-
Yes.....we got rid of a mental midget for one of the best super subs in the game, and a guy we needed with Blum gone (and Rob is WAY better than Blum). When we get a lefty, either Villone in a trade or sign Myers....this will look even better.

Grossman Upgraded to 2nd string
whitesoxfan101 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Grossman could go out there and completely suck, and he will still be an improvement on Orton. The only thing Orton has done right this year is not f*** it up for the defense....and if not for dropped picks by Detroit at the Dome and Tampa Bay, he DOES lose us those games. The Orton (last in the NFL in QB rating, awesome!!) supporters have ZERO ground to stand on, except that the Bears have won 8 in a row because of the defense and running game while Orton is 11 for 24 for 107 yards and a pick. Orton has done nothing to win us a single game, he has just avoided (at times luckily) losing us the game. If we fall behind by 10 points with Orton, the game is over. This team is a division championship calibur team with Orton at QB because of the defense and running game. With Rex at QB, we might actually be able to do something in the playoffs. -
QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) He's a Cub now so we can bash him all we want. Exactly!!!

Michigan State hasn't looked that great this year, which is why they have dropped pretty far in the polls. However, they looked VERY good last night in beating a solid Boston College club. They are probably the favorites to win the Big 10 with all that talent and scoring they have. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Being one of the resident MVC supporters here, I always thought the best team(s) in the MVC could beat the middle of the pack in the Big 10 more often than not. SIU beat Indiana at SIU a few years ago and almost beat Illinois at the Las Vegas Holiday Tourney a few years. Northern Iowa is the favorite in the MVC and the game was at Northern Iowa. Technically it is an upset but not really in my mind. Indiana State is another story. I thought they would stink this year. Haha I know that The Valley plays good ball, I just said it in a certain way because I hate all 3 of those teams. UNI is very good this year, that didn't surprise me at all that they beat Iowa. -
Congrats to the Cubs, they have an impatient leadoff hitter, and a CF with no arm that gets bad reads in the OF, for 1 year. Enjoy!!

So Bail, the Squawks, and Indiana all lose to mid majors in the same night?? Hilarious. Actually I guess St. Joe's isn't a mid major now that I think of it. But still funny. -
Great news. He has the coolest voice in sports, by far. I missed hearing him in his postgame pressers the last 2 years.

Indians expected to land closer Hoffman
whitesoxfan101 replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
We saw him once last year, and Rowand hit one about 900 feet. He's 38 and has no fastball anymore, and the Indians are WAY overpaying. Bring him on. -
Yeah, let's bat Uribe 2nd......sure he's impatient and doesn't walk hardly at all. Ahh, the first time I have to try and hold my tongue because we won it all last year.

Phils, Cubs talk Abreu-for-Prior swap

Not even Hendry could be dumb enough to do this.....it would be pretty fun if he did though.
