QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) not gonna happen. Not with the Best Wide Receiver in the Big Ten burning up the OSU defense, not with a healthy Mike Hart, and not with this new and improved Defense of Michigan. GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!! Avant won't even be the best WR in that game, regardless of what numbers I know you will throw at me, Santonio Holmes is better.....a lot better, than Avant (although Avant is a Chicago kid and I really like his game). -

Michigan will have no shot unless Hart plays and is actually Mike Hart. Grady has done well considering he's a true frosh, but Hart is the guy that makes that team go, and with a healthy and fresh Hart, they have a great shot against TOSU, but otherwise, they will have major issues. -
Bears impending QB "controversy"?

Should be interesting to see what Orton does against a stingy Carolina defense.....he is gonna have to actually make some big plays if we plan on winning against them. -
How far from the football stadium was this and how bad would it have been had the path of it went by the footbal stadium?

Anybody see the #'s John Dergo from Morris had last night?? He had over 350 rushing yards and 3 TD's, a 25 yard TD pass, and 2 picks in the endzone to preserve an "upset" win over #6 nationally ranked Joliet Catholic. More amazing is he isn't even going to play college ball, he's going to Illinois I guess on a wrestling scholarship. Zooker is gonna be begging him to walk on I'm sure though. -

Also, the BCS may consider themselves "victorious" this year since Texas and USC are going to be the only 2 undefeated teams, but the system still sucks. Nobody can convince me or any other logical fans that they know for sure USC would beat Miami on a neutral field, or that Texas would beat Penn State on a neutral field, or that LSU couldn't beat any of them, etc etc..... To get to the title game, you have to be in a group of half a dozen or so really good teams nationally, and then be one that's in a down coference that year. The Big 12 is flat out weak this year, and the PAC 10 has USC, and then Oregon is a pretty good team that has benefitted from beating on the bottom of the conference, and UCLA has an awesome offense that wins 50-40 games, and the rest of that conference blows. God I hate the BCS, but a playoff is never going to happen. *end unnecessary rant #2* -

The one problem with these silly premises from Michgan fans that they will win the Big 10, and that is that Michigan State pretty much quit after the painful losses to TOSU and Michigan (except for a win against Indiana, but hey, they are Indiana for a reason). Penn State is a screw job from the clock operator at the Big House from being 12-0, and will shut down the Spartans offense, making this argument a moot point. Plus, TOSU is a superior team to Michigan and will beat them anyways. Ok, that rant may not have been necessary, but Michigan football fans are just plain silly with their unrealistic optimism sometimes. Oh, and changing subjects here....were you at the game Head? And if so, what was the "evacuation to the basketball arena" scene like? -
I really really like Harington....and he's actually tall. Love to see the Bulls get him.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) Willis had more losses also. Carpenter sure has made one hell of a come back.. that's for sure. Definitely.....that was a gamble by Jocketty that paid off big time. Had Carpenter not got hurt, I think the '04 WS could have gone differently, and at the least, would not have been a sweep.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) As of right now, i would have to believe the bulls got the better end of this deal, especially when you factor in the financial considerations the bulls put themselves in. Regardless of picks or personel, the Bulls did not have to shell out 2 max contracts this past summer, only one to Tyson Chandler. I think the Bulls are positioning themselves very nicely for a strong run. They will most likely get two 1st round picks next year, and the following year they have the option of swapping draft slots with the Knicks if the Knicks are in better draft position, which is likely with Isiah piloting that ship. I like Pax, I think he does a really good job of evaluating talent for the system that him and Skiles are putting in place. I also think he is really good at getting max value out of his trades, somehow he has fleeced Isiah two years in a row(so it appears) and Skiles has made the Knicks crappy role players into super subs. The Bulls have enough money to make a run in the FA market after this year I believe, any idea who will be available?
-
I thought for sure Willis would win, seeing as he had a better ERA, more wins, and Carpenter's September was pretty miserable. But alas, Carpenter overall still had quite a year, so congrats to him.

From the Bulls official site.... http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/curry_traded_051004.html The important part: I'm guessing that means the Bulls get the Knicks pick as long as the pick isn't 26-30 (which isn't a problem with the Knicks weak team) and as long as the Spurs pick is 11-30 (which it will be since the Spurs will as least make the playoffs). So that would mean the Bulls are 99 percent sure to get the Knicks 1st rounder this year based on how they finish . But I'd appreciate it if somebody could explain to me if I am corect . But either way, getting some sort of 1st rounder along with Sweets (who I really like) and Tim Thomas (I think Skiles WILL get something outta him eventually) isn't too bad for the Bulls at all.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) If eddy curry started i don't see why sweetney can't/won't. I hope your right, but I think the fact that Eddy is 7 feet tall helped him out whereas Sweets is only 6'8. But I hope your right, I'd love to see Sweetney get a shot at starting.

Sweets will NEVER start with the way he plays defense, but man he's BY FAR our best offensive threat in the post, so he needs to play and get the ball more.

The Bulls trying to finish off the job the White Sox couldn't and cause my heart to stop beating, how bout an easy one guys?? At any rate, GS has a pretty good team, so nice win tonight.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) The thing is that he is probably going to have more problems as soon as next year if the recruiting doesn't pick up. Self's last two classes (one was when he left) were the Brown/Williams/Augustine class or the Randle/McBride class, which make up most of the players that are going to make a difference this year. Will Weber be able to sustain it after Dee and James are gone? It's going to be a lot more difficult without top level talent. Virtually every key player for the Illini in the last 5 years was a top 100 recruit (unless my memory is off, I think the only major exceptions are Bradford and the center on the Elite 8 team who's name escapes me, and the latter was a transfer), something they've been lacking in recent years. You can find a few good players that are hidden gems, but you usually can't rely on that in the long run. Luckily it looks like they could make a major impact in the 2007 class. It helps that most of the Big Ten isn't recruiting very well (MSU isn't recruiting quite like it used to, Wisconsin has gotten a few but not dominated, Michigan gets a couple here and there but not a ton of guys, and OSU has one class so far), but it would help them a lot if they can get a blue chipper or two, especially if they want to be one of the elite programs in the country. The rankings might be subjective once you get outside of the top 50, but the top 30 or so are pretty consistent, and the bulk of those guys produce at the next level. To really make an impact on the national stage, they'll need more All-Americans like Frank Williams, Dee Brown, and Brian Cook. Good post. I think at the rate Bruce is recruiting combined with his coaching skills, the Illini can continue to be a factor in the Big 10. But the problem is, they won't have success in big time OOC games or in the NCAA Tournament, so if Illinois plans on coming anywhere near the success they had in the dance last year, they have got to recruit better rather than get all excited over 1 big time recruit like Carlwell. And yeah it's a technicality, but Luther Head wasn't a top 100 recruit either, but your right, for the most part, the teams of the last few years have been built on top 100 players. -
Warriors are much improved, but they are a poor defensive team and coming off a tough battle last night in Milwaukee. Bulls need to attack on offense early and try and slow down the Warriors potent offensive attack. Hopefully the Bulls return to .500.

Weber is too honest to be a good recruiter, which is a major problem. As for Frasor, I saw him play several times and wasn't particularly impressed. But then again, I should have kept it to myself, seeing as if I didn't see him play, I don't know what I'm talking about, but since I did, I can't evaluate talent, but ah well. Weber is like the total opposite of Zook. Zook can recruit, but can't coach, whereas Weber can coach, but can't recruit. Those 2 need to be combined into some sort of megacoach. -

http://fightingillini.collegesports.com/sp.../110905aaa.html Great news, they are both great talents. Hopefully the Illini get a guard during the spring signing period (I expect they will) and this should be quite a class. As for Bobby Frasor, I would say the majority of Illini fans are just a bit frusterated by all the press and recruiting high marks Frasor got for going to UNC, despite the fact that he really isn't all that great of a player. But really, who cares? Jamar Smith is the guard from this state that Illinois ended up with in the class of 2005, and he's going to be quite a player. I wish Frasor the best at UNC, and besides, recruiting bitterness is simply stupid. -
I don't buy the "a fall at his home" story, just like I didn't buy it when Bryan Robinson said he broke both his wrists tripping over his dogs. But at any rate, that sucks, hopefully he gets well soon.

They are both steaming piles of crap, I can't pick only one.

Good luck to her.....and even if she were to be a failure for some reason with the Dodgers, at least she can't be any worse than DePodesta.

Reporter: "What have you ever done for TO besides getting him kicked off the Eagles?" Rosenhaus: "Next question." (T.O. is cracking up in the background). There is NO DOUBT that is my new favorite moment in a press conference ever, and it's not even close. Whoever had the balls to ask that question should get some sort of award.
