Monday Nov 7th: Colts @ Patriots
whitesoxfan101 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Bengals Steelers Chargers Seahawks Jaguars Still 5 games that won't be easy. They will beat the Texans to get to 9, and IF (a big if) they were to win at Cincy to get to 10-0, those other 4 games are all at home. I'm not saying I think they will do it, but they have a realistic shot IMO, which doesn't happen too often. -

'72 Dolphins should start to get nervous IMO....the Colts only have 1 REALLY tough road game left (at Cincy in 2 weeks) and if they win that one......look out for the dreaded undefeated season. (Although I think even if they got to, say 13-0, and clinched the home field, they would start resting people and might lose a game because of it, but you never know, it's fun to talk about). -
I know the Nets and Spurs are "better" than us, but I've been infuriated after both games because if not for general dumbassness (is that a word?) we'd be 3-0.

Bears impending QB "controversy"?
whitesoxfan101 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Orton definitely made the BIG throw yesterday on 3rd down, making it possible for the Bears to kill the clock and boot the chip shot FG to win it, and he does make SOME big time throws, but his inaccuracy IMO has gotten WORSE as the season went on (yes, maybe partly because of the Bengals game) and really, his 3 first half turnovers could have been KILLER if not for the fact we were playing the Saints. I don't know, I am just concerned about the QB situtation since this team looks like they are going to make the playoffs, and having a rookie QB that makes a lot of inaccurate throws could lead to major heartbreak. -

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Orton (if you ask me) showed a much better arm in College than Rex. Niether have shown the arm in the Pros that they had in college though. The arm strength of the 2 is comparable, but the accuracy isn't. Orton misses WAY too many open receivers, and his lack of accuracy on sideline routes and deep balls is going to hurt us against teams like Carolina and Pittsburgh. Mind you, i'm not so much a Rex defender as I am a Orton skeptic, Rex has A LOT to prove once he gets back (including if he can lead a good NFL team and if he can stay healthy). -

There is really no point in watching ESPN ever unless a game is on one of their family of network channels you wanna watch, or you need to find the score of a game (and even then, use Comcast Sportsnet). ESPN blows and we should all just learn to ignore their trash, because they are going to cater to the stupid and largest fanbases, and we are neither of those luckily. Just remember, all the media propaganda nonsense isn't going to take away our WORLD TITLE. -

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Orton. Who's led us to a 5-3 record? Orton. Yea, he hasnt been perfect, but he's winning and doing things just enough to come out on top. This isnt the same case as Craigathan Quinzel who churned out like a 19.5 QB rating. For the purpose of playing devil's advocate, it could be debated that the defense and running game have led us to a 5-3 record, and Orton simply hasn't screwed up badly enough to make us worse. Me personally, I am waiting. We will beat SF at home to move to 6-3, and after that, the schedule gets way tougher, and I am interested to see how Orton does then. Rex IMO is without question a more talented quarterback, but if Orton wins some games in the upcoming meat of the schedule and gets our record even better, I don't think you can sit him for Rex. -
I'm still hurting from the way Saturday's game ended....hopefully the Bulls figure out a way to pull off the big upset tonight, as it's always nice to knock off the champs (even if it's only a November game).

Have at it, I think this could make for interesting discussion since Rex is probably going to be ready to go something within the next few weeks...

As much as he's a clubhouse cancer, if the White Sox traded for TO, at least we'd never see or hear about him on ESPN anymore, so GIT R DONE KW!!!! -

What a heartwarming story, I hope the couple is happy together.... (and that we find a video of their "happiness" on the net somewhere). -
Thank God the Saints suck, Orton has played miserably thusfar today. But hey, keep it up guys. A win today could send us to 5-3, 2 games clear of the division, and home (I think it's at home) against the lowly 49ers next week. P.S.: Somebody tell Bobby Wade you aren't supposed to catch punts at the 5 yard line.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) the good thing about that is he can easily add those things through a weight training program and coaching from one of the better defensive coaches out there in weber. his offensive gift cannot be taught. Oh I definitely agree. Those things are concerns this year and into next year, but this guy could be an all around STAR as an upperclassmen. -
Haha ok I lose. Great to have him back though.
-
I heard he signed for 350 k a year actually, but maybe my ears deceived me?? Either way, good to have Widgermania back, he was a solid backup catcher/spot starter.

The biggest concern with Jamar is defense and size. He has as polished an offensive game as i've ever seen from an incoming freshman out of HS, but he's skinny as a rail and not a great defender, so I worry about if he can handle the punishment he will surely get in the big 10. -

http://www.suntimes.com/output/sports/cst-spt-illbk04.html I was already really excited about Jamar, and this just adds to it. Any guy that hits 10 3 pointers in a single playoff game clearly can shoot the lights out, and hopefully he can help out right away this year, as with Deron and Luther gone, we could use a long distance shooter. -
If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
whitesoxfan101 replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
All I know is a White Sox win or Yankees loss tomorrow clinches a playoff spot, and I want to make sure we do that first, then get to that division thing. -
Yanks and Red Sox lost tonight, so 1 win clinches at least a WC tie and 2 clinches the WC outright.

I'm strongly considering jumping on this bandwagon, but will wait and see what happens the last 5 games.

http://www.nola.com That site is doing a great job of coverage of the storm, although I guess the people that write for it had to evacuate the city due to the flooding. I don't think anybody realizes how bad this is yet, it's impossible to wrap your mind around how catastrophic this is.
