  1. This is unbelieveable. All journalists are being ordered to leave the city, downtown is now being flooded, including the french quarter, and thousands are believed to be still trapped on the roofs of their homes. (I heard all that on CNN btw, wish I had a link).
  2. I was just going to bed, but as I was, CNN is reporting there is a "2 block long" breach of the levee on Lake Pontchatrain in New Orleans, and that water is "rushing down Canal Street and rising at the rate of an inch per minute". As a result, Tulane University hospital may be forced to evacuate it's 1,000 or so patients.
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2135039 Yes I know he's been going downhill a bit, but he's from the Chi, he's long at 6'7 and can play 2 guard, and is a vet that has been through the wars. Finley is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered Pax, bring him home!!
  4. Man I love Alicia Keys, she can sing, she can write, and what a babe...
  5. Pitcher: wins by far Hitter: Among those, stolen bases. And to clarify, wins is a stat that, unless your Roger Clemens or one of the greats, reallly depends on run support. And stolen bases isn't terribly overrated, but among those choices it is the least important and most overrated, but i'd put BA as 2nd most overrated, cuz it doesn't indicate how much you actually help your team and get on base.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) My Salukis are ranked #3 preseason! Last two years they lost in the 1st round after good seasons. I go to NIU, and your guys gave us the scare of our lives last year, and as Huskie Stadium no less, where we never lose (except to Toledo )
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) They're 4 up for a playoff spot, it's not unrealistic at all.... Ahh it's only 4?? I thought it was 6 or 7....ah well, it is just hard to imagine them not making it with the way they have played and the breaks they have gotten the last couple months. I really don't care what they do, I just don't want to see them in the first round, they scare the hell outta me.
  8. I know i'm late to the party with these comments, but I really am happy to see the Hawks looking like they are improving, and I really think Chicago is full of people like me who are waiting for a good Hawks team that they can embrace, and the cities pretty large hockey fan base will deliver if the Hawks do.
  9. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) How about the A's just don't make the playoffs at all? God they are freaking ridiculous. That is an unrealistic proposition at this point unfortunately...
  10. Good, i'm rooting for Oakland. I'd MUCH rather see LA get the Wild Card.....we would definitely beat them IMO....and it would setup a showdown with Boston in the ALCS, who would beat Oakland since they never win in the 1st round anyways.
  11. You know how many times i've called my best friend "a homo"or made reference toward him "doing it R. Kelly style" if he likes a girl a year younger than him? Probably a hundred times, and most people out there can say the same. Everybody does stuff like this, it's not even a diss towards gay people, it's just something that goes on. This article is pathetic and quite honestly, Rick Morrisey needs to be b**** slapped for writing it.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) I guess I missed where you guys all posted your pictures so you could prove how "talented" you are... Ahh I was just getting to that actually!! I am truly a sexy beast.
  13. I'm glad to see i'm not the only one who enjoys her writing, felt kinda dirty thinking I was alone there....
  14. Meh, let everybody keep saying we are lucky and underestimate us. The less seriously they take us, the easier it will be for us to pounce on them. And as for the quote about Crede, Crede doesn't care in all likelihood. I hate to say it like this, but it's just "Ozzie being Ozzie".
  15. Ehh, I'm not worried. The Twins have been on a downward trend, and the Yanks pitching sucks. The 3 games at Boston makes me nervous, but other than that, just 12 other games against pretty good teams. We are 72-38 for a reason, and will show why. Plus, 9 of 15 are on the road, where we play better anyways, and that 13 game lead is still sitting there for us. We will probably play .500 ball during this stretch, similar to what we have done the last few weeks. As much as Ozzie doesn't want to allow it, this team appears to kind of be crusing towards playing just about .500 ball the rest of the year, 98 to 102 wins, a 10 game plus final margin in the Central, and getting itself healthy and setup for the playoffs.
  16. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) someone please explain how the waiver-trades work? they say there are usually never big names in those. Basically you can make trades still, but the players involved have to clear waivers I believe is how it works. The Cards for instance were able to get Walker last August because of his large contract that helped him clear waivers IIRC.
  17. The Raffy NOT being a first ballot HOF people officially lost when he joined the 3,000/500 club, whose only members are Eddie Murray, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays. If that doesn't put him in on the first ballot, nothing will....
  18. But let me clarify, 60-29 is pretty darn good.
  19. That was a joke, I don't feel very well about this one. Hopefully we get them again tomorrow.
  20. I don't know, but I do know that Luther Head will have a better NBA career than Deron Williams. And Deron will be a solid NBA player.
  21. We win when we play good, we win when we play ok, we win when we play bad. WE JUST FREAKING WIN, ALL THE TIME!!!! TEN GAME LEAD b****ES!!
  22. Woo Indians and Twins lose!!! Ground to be gained tonight and the possibility to get back that 10 game lead, go get 'em B-Mac!
  23. Aww we won?? Now all the chicken little's can't b****. STILL THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL!!
  24. Frank without a doubt. He hits for incredible power, draws a ton of walks, intimidates the other teams pitchers to the point where they pitch the entire linup differently, and he can also hit a sac fly if you need it. Offensively, Frank can do it all except run.
  25. I refuse to bring up past players, prospects, potential players, or anything otherwise when MY TEAM IS FREAKING 50-22!! But good for Morse.
