  1. Today's game doesn't change the fact that I think Grossman is better than Orton......defense won the game today pretty much by themselves, and with a QB that can actually throw the ball accurately on a consistent basis, the Bears could possibly go all the way. Plus, Orton came into this week last among starting QB's in rating, so even if Grossman blows, can't be any worse than that.
  2. Tampa Bay picks up a giant road win in Atlanta, 30-27. It's a showdown of 7-3 squads next week in Central Florida, should be fun.
  3. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) I suspect that the Bears may not even be a .500 team if they played in the AFC. The sad part is that they could actually be the NFC's sacrificial lamb to the AFC in the Superbowl. So are you a Packers, Vikings, or Lions fan?
  4. First 9 games: Panthers allowed 12 sacks Today: Panthers allowed 8 sacks. DAMN!!
  5. Carolina burns their last TO before the 4th down play. This D Line is putting on a performance for the ages, 7 sacks against a team coming in 7-2 with a top notch offense. Unreal.
  6. Panthers with only 1 TO left and the 2 minute warning has now occurred. Bears in great shape here even if Carolina ends up scoring.
  7. QUOTE(Fotop @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) I hate to simplify the situation because this a good post...but they don't have Reggie Bush next year. We can talk about stars and recruits all you want, but until you see someone as electrifying as Bush fill the void USC will be just other top program. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just saying they won't be setting the world on fire after this year. Yep. USC still recruits like mad, and still will have tons of great players, and Pete Carroll as coach.....but you can't just replace Reggie Bush, not many like him come along.
  8. Great news, Panthers challenge!! So they pretty much wasted one of their timeouts they desperately need, good call coach Fox.
  9. Gage having a BIG day. Hopefully the Bears can kill a chunk of that clock here.
  10. QUOTE(Fotop @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) I think the Fresno/USC game confirmed a large belief I've had (as well as many others) about USC all year: Reggie Bush differentiates them from the rest of the college football world. Fairly obvious I know, but really when you think about USC's body of work think about how many times Reggie Bush has singlehandely won them the game. In his three years at USC, there's more than a handful of games that he has basically carried USC on his back. He truly is an amazing player, a rare talent that doesn't come along very often. Sp once he's gone, how are you going to replace him? You can talk about top recruits all you want, but really there hasn't been someone like Bush since he hit the scene. He is a once in a decade type of talent. In my mind, USC is going to fall back to earth without him...but I think it's going to be a lot harder than most think. This also has a lot to do with leinart not leaving (could have broken in a qb while bush was still there...much easier), but they're going to be an entirely different team next year. It easy to say all of this since USC has set the bar so high, but really 2-3 losses...maybe more next year is not out of the question. And I really think tonight's performance solidified this thought as well as the thought that Reggie Bush is probably one of the greatest college players of all time. So I hope USC and it's fans enjoy this while it lasts, because their reign is soon going to come to an end (hell it might even be this year). Agreed on all counts. USC would have lost at ND, and really might have been blown out tonight at Fresno without Bush on the field. The Arizona State game w/o Bush might have also been a problem (although White went nuts too that day).
  11. Will the media suck up to Fresno for ALMOST beating the mighty USC like they did to Notre Dame? (and mind you, unlike Notre Dame, Fresno didn't have home field). Of course not, and since they are Notre Dame, they will get an at large BCS bid that really they should not get due to losing at home to Michigan State, who isn't even going bowling.
  12. Congrats to JoePa, a Lloyd Carr whine job from an 11-0 season, and repping the Big 10 in the BCS.
  13. McBride will be solid if he stays healthy. Last year's offense was based on the perimeter, so that's where the defense focused, and as a result, Rich simply didn't get a lot of open looks. This year's offense will focus a lot more on getting the ball inside with Augustine and Pruitt (and Marcus Arnold off the bench) so McBride should get some more open looks, and likely will lead to more success. IMO the biggest concert with him is his defense.

    "My Humps"

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) I had "my lumps" up there as the worst song going right now till I heard the song "laffy taffy" once you hear this one, which should be sooner rather than later you may literally throw your stereo out your car window. I have no idea who or what sings this song which no doubt compares the female form to a piece of candy but it is bad beyond belief. See I think that song is kind of catchy.....proving i'm a hypocrite.
  15. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) I have been following it pretty closely here in chicago and have never heard anyone accuse them of drinking before hand. If Marriotti had that info he would have used it. As I said in my original post if there was drinking and then shooting, then I understand the outrage...but from all things I have heard...that was not the case. ESPN might have misreported it, but hey not like that would be surprising, because you have a good point.
  16. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I haven't heard anywhere that they were drinking before hand. Please provide a link or even a reference as to where you heard it.... Heard it on Sportscenter and ESPNEWS both more than once.....I'm not sure where there would be a link, but I could try and find one.
  17. So the Cubs have spent, what, 11 million dollars is it on trash? (Eyre, Perez, Rusch). Hendry is desperately trying to show he's the worst GM in the game all of a sudden.

    "My Humps"

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) Have you seen any of his "ghetto soap opera" dvd. It's retarted and brillant. Yeah I saw it, and confirmed my current stance that Mr. Kelly should stick to music and underage girls. (This also coming from an R. Kelly fan).
  19. Yeah, Dempster is apparently a really nice guy, and with the revival he had at closer last year after all those injuries of the past, somebody you'd want to root for. Except, he's on the Cubs, what a waste....
  20. Even I am baffled at times by the idiocy that is the Chicago Cubs. I would say Eyre is going to be Remlinger 2.0 for them, but I don't think he will even be that good. Funny part is, wait until the media blitzkrieg we see tomorrow praising this as a great singing, when in reality it is simply Jim Hendry being a desperate jackass.

    "My Humps"

I don't know what it is about the pre teen/teen girl population, but any song that just sucks beyond comprehension they seem to love, so the popularity of this nonsense isn't surprising. The thing that bothers me is how ANYBODY could think Fergie has sex appeal. I mean the name Fergie is a killer alone, but her face looks like it spent a week getting run over by a 18 wheeler constantly.
  22. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) man the media is really blwoing this up. What is the big deal....two guys got into a pissing match that resulted in a couple punches thrown and then it's over. Big deal.... Guns, alcohol, FBI: Bears just don't get it Of course Moronotti was just chomping at the bit waiting for something like this to come out so he can get back to his whining. There have been too many positive events in Chicago and he's been oozing for some controversey to line up against the team. I don't know how, but I just knew he would find a way to b**** about PSL licenses in to this article. Every time he bashes the Bears he mentions them. Find something new Jay. and what's with this comment?? I don't think it's a creepy concept? Millions of people like shooting guns in a range. What's the big deal...Maybe he is a card carrying supporter...what f***in business is it of yours and who are you to insult him for it....If guns in a gun range creep you out Jay...then don't go to a gun range. I can't figure out the problem in all of this except the media needs a story. Now, if there was drinking and shooting that's one thing....but that hasn't even been hinted at. It should be handled in house...hell it could have been handled just between Miller and Kreutz like they tried to do...but a couple leaks got out and now moronotti wants suspensions and bans. Drop it....already..... Mariotti column from yesterday Well I think it's a big deal if a pair of 300 pound men after drinking, go to an FBI shooting range (and they were drinking before they went, heard that all over the place), get into an argument, and somebody gets hit in the head with a weight and needs a dozen stitches, while another person has a broken jaw, that's a big deal. Large men + alcohol + guns + FBI property=big deal. The media is overdoing it, but to say it should just be handeled in house I strongly disagree with. Btw, Miller could realistically get "assault with a deadly weapon" chargers for smacking somebody in the head with a dumbbell, Kruetz is lucky he came out of it without serious injuries.
