Watching Duke, they have a very very good team. BUT....if they run into somebody like a UConn with big, athletic guards and a big front line, they will lose. Duke is way too slow and small at the guard spot defensively, and somebody that can exploit that while getting McRoberts and Williams on their heels (and into foul trouble) due to front line depth will beat them IMO. But another BUT......there aren't very many very good teams in college hoops this year (if any) so Duke might win it all anyways. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Someone, please shoot the Big 12 this year. We suck. At least Texas caught Villanova on their worst shooting day of the season, so I guess the conference has 1 good team. -

Kansas State 59 Kansas 55 Final....whoa!!! Btw....as the resident NIU student (although lifelong Illinois fan, as I have admitted the split allegiance) I must point out..... Kansas State loses at NIU, but wins at Kansas DePaul loses at NIU, but wins at Wake. -

Everything White Sox is being booed at the Clown Convention apparently. Great to hear, so much for "they don't care about the White Sox". -

QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Iowa could only beat Penn St by 4 Doesn't matter. It's a Big Ten road win, and no matter who you playing this year, that's a big deal. -

May seem silly, but a big win for Iowa. Any road win in conference play is big in this league. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Penn State's throwing the game away, and I'm so glad IU was able to get rid of the crazy guy that's doing this game. He used to do all the ESPN plus games for IU. He's friggen' brutal. He does Indians games on the radio too. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) I've had them before, trust me. They hurt but not enough to get helped off the court while almost in tears but that's just me. Agreed, you can't cry!!! Miami by 8 now, 1:30 left. Miami might upset their second top 20 team in as many Saturdays, although last weekend they beat Maryland at home. That team is loaded with talent, and might finally be figuring it out. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Brad Buckman gets helped off the court with a twisted ankle, the guy was almost in tears with a twisted ankle. A bad twisted ankle is as painful as most anything you can do to yourself. Miami by 5 now at UNC with 3:22 to go btw. -

http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay14.html The whole thing pretty much slams the Cubs while praising the White Sox. Now I hate this guy as much as anybody, but hey if he wants to write pieces about how much the Cubs suck and how well we are doing, can't hurt....

The fact Paxson was so outspoken and angry in denying the rumor makes me think there may be some validity to it, and he wanted it kept quiet. Although I'm just being a speculating conspiracy theorist when I say that. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) No picks involved in that first scenario? I wish it were that easy. I would have to assume that most GMs outside of Isiah Thomas know that all Ben Gordon can do is shoot, and he can't even do that consistently or intelligently. He brings nothing to the table outside of scoring punch, basically. Pierce, on the other hand, is an assassin. He can do it all on the offensive end of the court. He can shoot, drive to the basket, pass effectively, etc. I love big scoring SGs. I might even be a Kobe Bryant fan if he wasn't such an asswipe. The most glaring holes on the Bulls right now are 1) lack of a legitimate center and 2) lack of a legitimate SG. I don't think Paxson has the brains to right this ship. We have a team of PGs, SFs, slow-footed PFs, and Tyson Chandler. Ainge just ain't gonna bail out Jim err John Paxson by sending us Paul Pierce, although that would be lovely! Exactly correct. And due to the fact that Hinrich is beginning to really adjust well to playing the point, methinks Ben will be traded. But we need a legit SG BADLY, a 6'5 guy who can shoot it from anywhere and has the size to guard the other teams 2 guard. And your assesment of the team is accurate, too bad we can't have Pierce.... -

DePaul is solid, but they really have a system overload on wing players. If they had 2 more big men (like a center and a 4) they could be really good, because they have several very good guards and wings. -
It takes 2 to tango. With that said, Manny isn't going anywhere.
