Very happy we have Gavin locked up. Hopefully we can make next year a dynamite club for the whole 162. Just a couple retool moves away. I think.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) I didn't know playgirl had a mostly homosexual readership either. Women dont really enjoy the 'male form' - so to speak.

Please get people on this team who can handle the bat. Rios i'm fine with as a defensive CF and lower in the order hitter. Alexei however needs to hit or his being here is totally pointless.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:17 PM) When you are fighting for your playoff lives and Jayson Nix is leading off, either your manager or GM have not lived up to their billing. I know it hurts to see Nix flailing away at pitches. But looking at this park, he's just as good a candidate to bang one off that left field wall as anyone right now. Who on the team is producing awesomely enough to give 5 AB per game?

Steve Stone Talks to Chicago Public Radio
Regarding wrestler Shawn Michaels: In 1996, Hickenbottom posed in a non-nude layout for Playgirl magazine.[156] It was not until after he posed that he discovered that Playgirl has a mostly homosexual readership, which was seen as humorous by his fellow wrestlers.

Cowley quoting Jermaine on rios trade
Since no one is taking Dye's perspective (completely guessing this might be it..) But players slump. From the player's perspective: do you take away someone's atbats when their average slides for a few months? Plenty of vets get to play through big slumps. Obviously we need to do what we need to do....but from the player's point of view, they want to play - they dont want to feel like anyone's knocking at the door to take time away from them. Obviously we want the player to produce, but now we have two RFs who cant hit...not just one!

Cowley quoting Jermaine on rios trade
I think that we should want any pro to desire to be out there everyday. The problem is when they dont wanna be out there, just collecting a check. Dye has said nothing wrong, in my view. For him to call the Rios trade shocking or confusing is fair....there's nothing anti-team about that...it's his opinion, and he wants to play. For him to take it farther...then yes, i would disagree with the apparent majority opinion that JD was out of line. Of course when yr slumping, anything you say is magnified. Were he still killing the ball, no one here would have a problem with the exact wording of his past statement. None.

Cowley reports Peavy is soft-tossing
Suppose the elbow isnt all too bad in this case EDIT: also, this is so far just on Score, not on Twitter. However I absolutely love this on his twitter..... Guillen on his offense: "this is the wrong time to get the tight ass."

Cowley quoting Jermaine on rios trade
Paraphrasing, i should say... Says that Jermaine gave him the old "it is what it is" line...pro athlete cliche #1 right there. More importantly, JD told him there's no truth to the thought that he was emotionally hurt by the trade. Essentially saying he's a pro and all fine with it. Was discussed at the end of the 3 oclock hour for those who later will want to hear on 670's casts.

Well Dye's soon to be 36. '05 was great but it's time to move BOTH him and thome along, if you ask me. The team is retooling and cant keep hanging onto the past.
