Who is/was better at the position? Granted we havent seen Alexei there long enough..... but neither looks/ed like a natural at the position for whatever reason. In AR's case i think he's kind of not built for the position...kind of a tallish SS. Also i think he's perhaps fast on his feet but not quick....if that makes any sense.

There's no way to not be terrified Unless yr just looking towards 2010 with Beckham/Peavy for a full year.

What if the new Cubs brass came in and immediately wanted payroll flexibility back. In the offseason, would you do the following, knowing it would be our last move for awhile: Linebrink for Soriano Vitters Cashner Flaherty......and perhaps another contract coming back our way. What can I say, there'd be the new DH and the farm system is restocked. Obviously a pure joke of a scenario but I'm trying to think what scenario there could possibly be where we'd accept AS on our team.

Depressing seeing this thread title keep coming up Guess I'm about to bump it though..

As per my original post, lets say we have 15M to spend on some combo of Pods/Thome/Dye Would you bring back say two of those three with money to spare for a who-knows relief arm......... ........... or would ya bring in one guy like a Holliday (unlikely) or Jason Bay. Then you have your outfield and probably only have to cobble together a DH out of Flowers and/or Kotsay if he returns. Bay could DH actually......and that leaves the opportunity to get Alexei out in LF or something. Lets make Figgins/Thome not an option for that $15M as most would probably choose that.

It's best Uribe is not here, but if we're calling Alexei or Getz his replacement, I dont think they give you enough at each position from a combined off/def standpoint. Close enough to get by but not what you want. Even though Alexei has a great contract, I have this feeling the Sox would move him for a similarly good-contract SS who gives perhaps more defense and less offense than the Cuban Missile. Everyone just seems so fed up.
