  1. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) So apparently, as of RIGHT NOW, Boers claims that "his guy" with the Sox says they are likely to re-sign Pods with CQ in right. Figgins is not in play. Then reinvest that savings in a power DH that CAN play another position for IL/WS games Only following that would I be fine with it.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) He's a good 4th outfielder who has been miscast as the leadoff hitter of this team. He might be the best the Sox can run out there though, so really, it's all moot. FWIW, since all-star break: Pods .288/.333 Rios .266/.315 That not-so-difficult-to-swallow disparity plus the defense benefits may be enough to get the winds of change sweeping in
  3. I'm starting to come over to the oust Pods sentiment He's been having a great OBP year. Everything else has been suspect of course, as is his way. But now my worries about that high average are creeping up. He's getting a lot of infield hits, which is great...but when we face great teams, especially in the playoffs, we cant count on him being able to poke and slap at some of the greatest pitchers in the game. We've gotta get Rios a lot of starts, and get him centerfield for all close games by the later innings.
  4. Baez, righty with 1.20 WHIP...i'd be interested. Shouldve been more interested in him than Tony P
  5. by jove i've got it Beckham 3b Alexei ss Thome dh Quentin lf (if still with same mobility) Dye rf AJP c Konerko 1b Rios cf Getz 2b
  6. To be as highly regarded a defensive player as he is.....he must hustle to some extent.. Also clubhouses can be catty. Griffey had all these negative stories surrounding him but was loved here. You just cant tell what a fresh start will be.
  7. Well hopefully soon he can start working for that new contract It's also worth pointing out that this sort thing is far from an anomaly. That's the current athlete. We wish they'd all motivate themselves to the highest level, but we have plenty of guys here who dont explode out of the batters box, who dont go that extra mile. That type of guy who busts it 24/7 is now the exception not the norm.
  8. Could Lillibridge play 2b better than Getz? Just looking for silver linings
  9. Lillibridge would actually give us a true speedster at PR. Wise is ok but not great. It's actually a difference making aspect BL would bring to our Central race in September
  10. We could be a championship team in the way St Louis Cardinals were. The chances of that are unlikely, but if we get in a playoff series with Peavy/Buehrle/Floyd/Danks.... we will be dangerous. And we can use one of those guys in relief even as we did in 05 postseason. And Matt Thornton would pitch in like every game I do like our record against NYY, TB, LAA, LAD. We're just so bad v. the bad teams
  11. There I was planning to have a productive job-applying day and then a transaction happens. CWS cant let go of me and let me have my life
  12. This guy doesnt look worthless with the bat. Can take a walk apparently. Judging from his career minor league #s, he looks like a guy who couldnt get out of AA at a decent age but then began hitting at AAA after the age of 27. Hasnt really had an ML chance
  13. Thats a pretty sweet teaser to give those having just watched this game A CSN recap of the game we just watched! Awesome!!!!
  14. upside: getz has been resting so long his groin may have healed, maybe he can play
  15. has beckham hit on the road? maybe he really does need that silly song green
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:38 AM) I think my dog is giving himself a blowjob. we got people painting with all kinda palettes in this joke fest
  17. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:35 AM) oh no did Colon eat him too? ...the thing is colon has eaten a lot of people... records are kinda scarce on this topic, kinda impossible to maintain up to date
  18. Maybe Linebrink isnt injured, he just popped into place whatever went wrong w/ him after 2005 we're about to have a great pitcher in linebrink now!
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:19 AM) Fixed it. Might have changed the order of a couple words. yes both apply. man this game has had some great defensive play.
  20. We need a fireballing righthanded back of the bullpen guy. enough of this s***
