  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:50 PM) The Sox put Fields on the playoff roster specifically in case we decide to ph for Uribe. If you don't ph for him there, you're never going to ph for him. Uribe has not swung the bat well for a while now. The Fields thing is not going to happen. Not this year at least. The Sox dont particularly like him, and he hasnt done much. He's on the roster for pure last resort situations.
  2. OC is trying to get himself something to hit.
  3. Take one for the team, nice.
  4. OK,i'm fine going the rest of my life w/o seeing replays of that failed hit and run or whaetver it was
  5. It's time to make Javy a reliever. He's good early in his starts so why not try that. Has he ever been a reliever his entire career?
  6. With Richard...maybe this can be like 2000, where maybe the one good that came out of the postseason is that Buehrle got good playoff experience pitching out of the pen
  7. So we could leave off Q from Round 1 roster and then bring him back in a 2nd round, right? We need those RBIs back, but also we flat out need someone on the basepaths consistently..who isnt super slow
  8. I will name my first born Rick Hahn's Son
  9. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) I REALLY enjoyed Dick Stockton doing PBP for baseball. To quote Christmas Story, "he was in good voice tonight" Heck, it'd be great to hear Jean Shepherd call a game. Actually it pretty much would be..Darrin Jackson calling a game, i'd guess.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) Best one I've been to since game 4 in Houston. I usually make people jealous having seen Jordan in a Finals game, but I have nothing on you.
  11. I personally dont think the Javy isnt 'big game' argument holds up. First off, he was stellar innings 1-4 last game. Are those not big game situations in those innings? If anything his later inning wearing down points to something structural... not mental. Second... he had some big games vs. big opponents between mid-Aug to mid-Sept and gave us a chance to win.
  12. QUOTE (Yoda @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) Overall, thanks Clayton, but it's time for Javy to show that he is capable to pitch when he is really needed. That first game can always have a big impact on the overall series. My whole thing with Clayton is we really need that arm in the pen. I consider Thornton the 8th inning guy, and since Horacio Ramirez isnt technically a pitcher, we dont have a guy for lefties.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:54 PM) Javy's still got world-class talent and he'll be against a Rays team that will extremely nervous and starting a guy in LF who hasn't played in months... Javy has the best stuff on the staff and the worst brain. My hope is that Tampa being young, many in their first postseason game... they could be so geeked they start falling prey to some stuff that Javy normally shouldnt throw.
  14. Different spin: give me strikeout stuff against some young hitters who might be really geeked up. Looking past the last 3 awful starts, there was some great consistency from him in --yes-- big games from mid Aug to mid Sept Also he has had decent-to-strong starts vs. TB all year.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) Dealing with the most ridiculous sox fans in games threads that just talked the s word about the sox the entire damn time. And I have to say it is probably sweeter for the former. I know some people deal with some things differently but my God, it was awful. There's something about this year that seems to make everyone less rational than ever. Hawk is the test case. I swear he has been losing his mind more than i can recall in recent years. Just something really infuriating about this team but a night like this is probably sweeter because of it.
  16. Toby is the goofiest dude of all time
  17. I think we're going to see more Swish in LF now. It's the perfect time as Wise has hit a rut and Swish has got to be raring to go Also Wise has shown some PH readiness this yr anyway
  18. I've been waving the positivity flag way more than most here lately, especially after the recent sweep. Simply making the point that it is possible to fire opponents up and we may have seen it tonight. You have to look hard in Blackburn's game log to find any starts better than this one.
  19. Phew at least several more days of Bill Melton saying "Oct-oh-vio"
  20. CQ is sooo going to start lying about what pain he's feeling.
  21. Dont talk s*** about Tampa starting pitchers. Not an Ozzie hater at all, just saying. Yes, i am Johnny Kiljoy.
  22. Q ball protect that hand, man!!
  23. Gun aside who else sees bigger velocity . YES YES YES
  24. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) Think he was kidding, not necessarily kidding i mean i'm thinking total ceiling. obviously good now no question.
