  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) Sucks for Saladino He is a backup so actually this major league promotion is fantastic news for him
  2. Navarro will be facing a righty. Hm. I am still not clear if the Sox are assigning catchers to pitchers somewhat, or if it's based on pro-offense matchups
  3. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 4m4 minutes ago Chicago, IL Adam Eaton joining his wife who is in labor with their first child. Congratulations to their family!
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Has Sands played yet? His is still the roll I just don't get where it will work. I'd rather have a long man for when Danks has his "nothing" starts. I think Sands is here just to be a guy that still has some ceiling left. If he gets his chance he may finally deliver on the promise of his MiLB numbers. Also, he kills lefties and that'll serve a PH need down the road. He has shown he can grab a bat cold in small sample size (1.032 career ops as PH)
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 07:07 PM) I wanted 8-10 runs today and got 6. I'll take it. 8-10 runs??? I feel like you would find me to be bad in bed.
  6. If Hawk calls that out, he's out by a mile then
  7. Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 4m4 minutes ago Research by Baseball America shows 21 players drafted by @whitesox in big leagues. Only five organizations have more.
  8. Wow, now it sounds like David Holmberg may be back too. The gang is all back
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 11:13 PM) I've liked the ABs by Jackson so far Yes - he looks like just right as that 2 WAR (good glove, near-OK bat) and you need guys like that.
  10. dat kind BABIP for AJax
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 2m2 minutes ago First #WhiteSox HR of season (last 6 seasons) 2016: Frazier 2015: Abreu 2014: de Aza 2013: Flowers 2012: Dunn 2011: Dunn 2014 was that opening day where De Aza had an all-world 2 HR day
  12. James Fegan ‏@JRFegan 3m3 minutes ago Blair Walters is back in the Sox organization, so they have now recovered two of three arms they sent to Houston in the Brett Myers trade
  13. Andy Van Psych ‏@cronebender 1m1 minute ago How stark the contrast is on John Danks of last year & John Danks of the prior few years. So much rides on which one shows up this yr (1/3) Andy Van Psych ‏@cronebender 35s36 seconds ago The Soothing: if we add up the 32 starts in 2005 between Duque and McCarthy, it equals John Danks' 2015 WAR from 30 starts (2/3) Andy Van Psych ‏@cronebender 31s32 seconds ago The Scalding: 2012 to 2014 WAR for pitchers with more than 350 innings in the span. Danks is #98 of 98, and the #97 guy doubles him. (3/3)
  14. dan durkin ‏@djdurkin 26s26 seconds ago #Bears announced they've signed S Omar Bolden to a one-year contract.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) Interesting to compare his FIP and ERA by year ERA from 2012 to 2015 3.25 3.78 3.23 4.91 FIPs from 2012 to 2015 4.38 4.45 4.89 5.01 Was gonna say - the buzz the last few days is that he has more success than his peripherals indicate he should
  16. Absolutely I'm behind this. We talk about LH hitting but deep down we all know Ventura loves Shuck, and he'll likely matter as a result. I'll say this: Shuck would improve us defensively if he can push Melky to DH some. The bigger need is starting pitching. in a not farfetched scenario we may have TWO starter voids and that is terrifying. In MG we could get a guy that is just-alright. He'd be better than Carroll. Erik Johnson is AAAA material right now. Beck is there but a win-now team cant be relying on that.
  17. Adam Caplan ‏@caplannfl 30s30 seconds ago Teams have been informed that they're out of the race to sign C/G Ted Larsen, so expect him to sign with the #Bears.
  18. I'd DH him over Avi. He hits righties OK. While his pitches per plate appearance tend to be league normal, he has great career (& recent years) contact rates - out of zone, in zone, all of it.
  19. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 1m1 minute ago White Sox could be a fit for James Loney, given the retirement of Adam LaRoche. Padres, perhaps, if Myers shifts to OF some days. Loney vs. righties 2015: 296/341/372 Career: 296/351/432 Ishikawa vs. righties 2015: 207/303/310 Career: 258/326/401
  20. Bears watching Neil Solondz ‏@neilsolondz 1m1 minute ago #Rays James Loney has been told he will not make the team. Not sure if will be traded or put on waivers
  21. Love this: Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 52s53 seconds ago Dan Hayes Retweeted Comcast SportsNet Jimmy Rollins calls Tyler Saladino "Emmanski" because he's so fundamentally sound.
  22. Baltimore is unconditionally releasing Miguel Gonzalez. Was like a #3 or #4 starter presently, wasnt he? You could see the Sox taking him over Ishikawa or Sands, as starting pitching is still what I consider a 'hole' http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P Fangraphs paints him as a peripherals-defier: Profile: Miguel Gonzalez has been part of the Orioles' (formerly) peripherals-defying rotation since 2012. Like teammate Chris Tillman, Gonzalez put up ERAs far better than one would expect from his walk and strikeout rates from 2012 to 2014. Also like Tillman, Gonzalez turned into a pumpkin in 2015. While some might point out that Gonzalez was unlucky on fly balls going out of the park last season, that was really only part of the problem. His batting average on balls in play was roughly league average after three years of them being incredibly good. His strikeout rate improved a bit, but was still below average, but his walk rate increased at the same time. Gonzalez is not that great at keeping the ball on the ground, either, and he does not have swing-and-miss stuff. He turns 32 in May, so his best days are likely behind him. He's probably better than his 2014 performance, but 2015 was probably closer to his true talent than the semi-magical 2012-2014 run. If you believe he has batted ball suppression skills, he will still be available at a bargain price or at the back end of a draft. Maybe Gonzalez will surprise us again, but he is going to be a low end option in deep leagues at best. (Matt Klaassen) The Quick Opinion: After three seasons of batted ball magic from 2012-2014, the clock struck midnight for Miguel Gonzalez' unremarkable stuff in 2015. He was a bit unlucky, but he is at best a low end option in most fantasy drafts in 2016.
  23. Jacob Turner is cut. Will be interesting to see if he was so bad that he gets into Charlotte. Would be nice. Carroll is also out
  24. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 27s27 seconds ago Sources: Kim not expected to make #Orioles' Opening Day roster. Believed willing to go to Triple A; must consent to any demotion.
