  1. it could be some thing in who he is where he should chase some non-perfect pitched balls. he's more patient right now but is that 100% a good thing for a guy like this? He has Frazier behind him right now, and it seems like it could be a conscious decision to take pitches & make use of that fact.
  2. Jabari Blash is very available right now if you want to replace Sands with someone else Sandsian (but more power) http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...amp;position=OF
  3. Also his out-of-zone contact is worse than last year, but a little better than Year 1 Can be inferred from some of the above, but his "Hard%" is at an all time low.
  4. from Abreu's plate discipline tab in fangraphs (and other notes): -His swings at out of zone pitching are way down. His swinging-strike % is lower than either of his other two years. (he is seeing his usual/career normal amount of in-zone pitches) -Overall contact is higher than it's been in either of his previous two years, as is the case for his in-zone contact. -Compared to the rest of his career, line drive % and ground ball % are both lower than ever. More flyballs. He's more judicious than ever this year. Striking out less than ever, but he's hitting it less hard and when it lands, it's in a glove.
  5. a MUST listen https://soundcloud.com/christannehill/dr-ke...harrelson-51216 NSFW if you dont want heavy panting sounds

  7. Todd Frazier ‏@FlavaFraz21 3h3 hours ago Feeling good today #southsiders be back at it tommorow. Ice all day everyday.
  8. Ken RosenthalVerified account ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #SFGiants, #Angels, #WhiteSox most interested in Lincecum. Not close to decision.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 08:17 PM) I'll always have that 9 or 10 pitch at bat of his that led to a walk a couple days ago in my memory bank. What a man. What a player. What a legend. Sad to see him go. that was a helluva at-bat though

  11. Some soothing info here... recent events have brought us up to #11 in Offense by Fangraphs -- of all MLB.
  12. No blaming the umps last night, really. We deserved to lose that one a few times and we probably deserved to lose the night before too. 1-1 is about right after all the baseball i watched during the last 48 hours
  13. Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 1m1 minute ago 9:05 is expected restart for this one, with Sox trailing Rangers 2-1 after 2 innings.
  14. 20 months ago Rodon was pitching in college games. Seems many here dont grasp that to move that fast into being an above average pitcher is very hard to do. The one hard hit ball so far was an out, btw.
  15. Maybe it's been mentioned - but as the GS is being celebrated, you can see Abreu telling Lawrie not to hurt him Lawrie gets so pumped up and aggressive that people probably get bruised after clutch HRs lol
  16. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 9, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) So who comes up for Sands tomorrow? No way they keep on the club after that s***. It's not really his role though. He's a DH vs lefties who has a pinch hitting track record
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) That FlavaFraz nickname really needs to be retired before it gets started by anyone else... It's Todd Frazier's twitter username
  18. the Franz Ferdinand music choice there -- pretty funny
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) I'd put Hammel in there instead of Lackey if you're willing to put Fowler in front of Heyward. maybe. what i found interesting was when league and ballpark factors are put in, hammel is far and away fifth of their five starters. yet the ERA is pristine. of all five, lackey is missing the most bats
  20. These all-city teams get put together each year. Do we want to speculate a little early? Preseason the joke was that the all-city team would be all Cubs. I'm seeing us with six spots: LF: melky CF: fowler RF: eaton 3B: bryant SS: russell 2B: zobrist (tough luck for lawrie, career year type start for him) 1B: rizzo C: navarro (factoring in the great work with latos) SP: sale arrieta quintana lester lackey closer: robertson I'll go against the sabr perspective to put robertson in there. but latos cant go over lackey. every indication is that latos has been a beneficiary of outside forces, whereas lackey has been hurt by them. lester makes it but it should be noted he's been fortunate to be leaving so many on base avisail wins the DH battle as he is running unopposed (though last year his WAR lost when compared to 0.0, so this is progress) Alright tear me apart!!
  21. We have to prepare ourselves for Fulmer potentially being a reliever for most of his career. This is not to put him down, but guys like him are particularly made for that role. He will of course get a lot of MiLB opportunities as a starter b/c of the high draft status
  22. For those that are interested - the '94 Sox and the '05 INDIANS are mentioned here in graph listing recent "no-weakness" teams http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-cubs-lo...-baseball-team/
  23. For those that think Jacob May's bat would replace Austin Jackson's seamlessly, here's an idea of how well AJax did as a minor leaguer: AJax AAA .293/.349/.389 AA .285/.354/.419 A+ .345/.398/.566 May AAA .273/.321/.374 AA .275/.329/.334 A+ .258/.326/.395 So the trajectory May is on would have to radically change for him to be an everyday MLB bat. Granted, his AAA numbers are only 100 ABs, but for this bat to be an everyday CF, he would have to have game changing defense on his side. May however projects to be just adequate-to-good. If the goal is to save $5M with AJax next year and spend it elsewhere, I suppose I could get behind this. But i worry b/c our OF depth is so awful..........that you'd hate to give up on this thing if Jacskon really wanted to come back w/ no salary raise
