White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond

WAR:What is it followed for? -
OOOH also this about the Orioles.. The team’s first choice is to follow the expected signing of free-agent right-hander Yovani Gallardo with the signing of free-agent outfielder Dexter Fowler. But if Fowler joins, say, the White Sox, the Orioles’ backup plan appears to be a trade for Reds right fielder Jay Bruce. It goes on to discuss how the Orioles' backup plan is Bruce and how a trade seems nearly worked out as a Plan B

Rosenthal's latest Reports of the White Sox’s interest in Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier were overstated. The team, however, is active on multiple fronts; the addition of Fowler or another outfielder would make right fielder Avisail Garcia expendable, and other scenarios surely are in play. Also says the Sox interest in Desmond is overstated. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/gallard...osenthal-021216

Jon Heyman @JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago Chisox are among teams considering Desmond. He'd be good fit there, better than another OF. Will discuss on @MLBNetwork at 6 -
QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) Sox brass is going to get pounded if Avi is your starting RFer Austin Jackson and a nice three high picks come draft time to rebuild the recently lost prospects is going to sit well with me. Fowler doesnt do much for a moribund OF defense.

Maybe finally things start moving this morning: Buster OlneyVerified account @Buster_ESPN Executives believe it'll be very difficult for Dexter Fowler to get more than the 2-year, $20 million deal that Howie Kendrick got from LAD.

Have to think Erik Johnson does you more good in your org right now than as trade bait. Sure he's under team control, but he's in that category along with a bunch of other guys leaguewide who would likely have equal middling value on the trade market. Johnson had a bounceback year of sorts last year, but the peripherals indicate he has problems still.
-
I'd actually call this almost notable, as you could see a scenario where we have to call up a 1b during the year...and I dont know that the farm has ready-now options. Since Matt Davidson is entering non-prospect territory now, he could be a 1b call up if someone were hurt too.

gives us a league average starter from this list. Prior to getting Latos, our #4 and #5 are at the very very bottom of the list http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/the-chang...pitching-ranks/

Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 38s38 seconds ago Rationale behind Latos to ChiSox, per source: "Best place where he can make 30+ starts and win".

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) Good peripherals, bad ERA. So, the opposite of Erik Johnson

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) Lawrie and Latos. The all-asshole team. and we bring back legacy a-holes now. Carl was at SoxFest

http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-s...0204-story.html Interesting stuff here about us. Says we inquired on Puig; they tried to sell us on Ethier/C.Crawford

in the Puig article, Merkin has stated that the sox 'appear unwilling' to give up a pick for Fowler

the Frazier rumor took awhile but then finally got done.

I'd be fine with Ethier if there are monetary savings involved that allow us to also address a starting pitcher spot.

Carlos Quentin unretired, signs w/ Twins
Princess Dye replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Chris Carter may still be playing, but we ended up not missing him. What a strange deal in that we traded a young prospect for a sort-of aging prospect (who was absolutely mashing in the minors). I hate to suggest it but it's almost like this offseason where you see a Jose Peraza dealt away for Trayce Thompson. -
