I missed the game because I work for a bunch of commies. Anyway, what was Sale featuring? Was he throwing more sliders than changes? I remember in his last start, he was throwing a 2 seamer or cutter that was sitting around 88-92, almost exclusively. Then in his last inning, he went with the 4 seamer and a sequence of slider, slider, change, change, slider when he got into trouble. There seemed to be some concern about his velocity, but he wasn't throwing the 4 seamer. It was more of a 2 seamer/cutter that moved away from righty's.

I'd trade everybody, Komerko, AJ, Thornton, Crain, Peavy etc. I still don't think we're a good team. We're probably "dangerously" good though. I really don't think there's a gaping hole at catcher. Flowers has turned into a pretty good defender and I actually prefer the way he calls a game. I think he can give you 240/350 with 15-20 homers. That'll work for me.

Defensive metrics are stupid. If you tell me Ramirez and Rios are bad defenders. I'm probably going to laugh at you while I watch you wipe my snot off of your chest.

If people don't want to tip, fine. Just double the prices so the staff is paid accordingly.

If I had to compare Reed's stuff to anybody, it would probably be Brad Lidge. Reed's has the out pitch in the slider. His fastball is plain nasty despite not hitting triple digits. I'd guess they didn't want to risk throwing him into the gauntlet too early. It's a nice change to the usual MO of rushing pitchers. If the early blown saves cost us a playoff spot, I'll buy all flavum's drinks for the next year. The Sox are not a playoff team.
