The Sox payroll has been competitive. Attracting free agents has always been a different story. The Sox are not an attractive destination and we probably never will be. Everything about the White Sox is mediocre and that's not going to change as long as there's a team playing in a much better neighborhood in the same city.

Rebuilding has never been there plan. Trading for guys like Shields was how they used to operate. Now they're doing it right. Machado was a guy they don't need and Harper was a bad deal. Let's see what shakes out this off-season now that they're competitive

Being around 500 at this point in the rebuild is exactly where they're supposed to be. Don't be mad at me. Be mad at Harper and Machado for not playing very well. They're making the message board experts look bad.

3 years ago, if I would have told any of you that this team would be hovering around 500, with the lowest payroll in baseball and have Kopech, Rodon, Dunning, Hansen, Burdi, Hamilton, Burger, Alolfo and Basabe all suffer career threatening injuries, you wouldn't have believed me.
