Best Organizational Young Talent Since???
TaylorStSox replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You left out Pilkington, Bush, Sheets, Walker and Rutherford. They're all still legit prospects. -
If all things pan out, you're looking at a future rotation of Gio, Kopech, Cease, Vet FA, Reylo. Ideally, you'll have Dunning back in the mix in 2 years and Pilkington might behind that. I'll take it.

Giolito also named AL player of the week

It was wise when it happened. WAR loved Eaton a lot more than reality. He was good when healthy, but he wasn't 3 big time prospect good. -
It just sounds different off his bat. Reminds me of Alfonso Soriano.
-
It was. Gio struggles out of the stretch and the distraction of base runners really messes with him. He's fragile mentally.
-
That's very dramatic.
-
That change is disgusting right now.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

I mean, we picked him up to trade to him, so... -
These are all reasons why you keep him in, not pull him. That's why it's called "adversity." Last night's game didn't mean shit. None of these games mean anything. It's all about development. Reylo's window is running out. They need to see how he handles situations like last night.
-
He's one of those guys whose value isn't necessarily tangible. His versatility, instincts and demeanor are all plusses. The hit he got on the hit and run last night is a good example. It'll show up on the box score as just a single, but it was one of the smartest pieces of hitting I've seen all year.
-
Right. So one would assume a smart business would push the window back, look at their long term assets, see which ones you can move and try to get younger. Fans won't like it, but fans are gonna complain anyway. I'll use Rodon as an example. When Kopech and Hansen went down, I would have moved Rodon from "part of the future" to "tradeable asset," for a few reasons 1. Injury history. 2. Refusal to sign an extention. 3. The window being pushed back. Maybe the Sox did too, but he got hurt again, so it's moot.
-
What "stage of the rebuild" are we in anyway? If you would have told me when the rebuild started that Hansen, Kopech, Dunning, Burdi, Burger, Adolfo, Basabe and Rodon would all suffer major injuries, I'd have told you the window needs to be pushed back.
-
I am a pompous asshole. No question. I never said fans wanting to see wins is dumb. I said treating rebuilds as if they're linear is dumb.
-
Nice strawman. "This stage of the rebuild" is also a dumb concept. It assumes rebuilds are linear, which they obviously aren't. Reylo is dangerously close to the sink or swim stage of his career though. Either he figures it out or not. You have to keep throwing him out there to find out. Right now he's failing. If he does fail, the Sox need to alter course. People can't think beyond the micro elements of meaningless games and think about the macro goals that the organization has.
-
Rebuilding means you keep throwing your young starters out there to face adversity. What's more important, continuing to evaluate and try to develop Reylo or winning a meaningless game against the Royals? Renteria is here for a reason, and it's not to win a world series this year.
-
Posts like this are a nice reminder that some people just don't get the concept of rebuilding.
-
I wonder if the bat has messed with Madrigal more than most college kids.
-
Rey's change nasty when he can stay on top of it. When he gets under it, it floats and gets crushed.
-
Can you at least keep your garbage on the main board?

Is Ricky the worst manager in White Sox history?

The 3 most important duties of a major league manager: 1. Fill out a lineup card. 2. Make sure players don't find out who's banging each other's wives. 3. Make sure players are home from the bar by 5 AM and don't puke on the plane. MLB manager = the most overrated job in pro sports -
This is the same team that played AJ at C for years because of his bat. It's going to be hard for Collins to be worse than that. AJ looked like he wasn't even trying a lot of the time.

Collins

The best Sox team I've ever seen had a light hitting LF and made up for it with good hitting from non traditional positions.
-
Or they could have a power hitting catcher and a light hitting 2nd baseman. There's no best way to do it. The whole is what matters.
