  1. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) now 5-zip Canada. Leiter in to pitch, gives up 2-run single. Thats cause willis really stinks
  2. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) go mack Nice myspace page...
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:43 AM) The fans in right field afraid of getting hit by a Travis Hafner home run ball? Good luck Baj in Arizona. hahaha.... ... gold
  4. If Podsednik gets injured, does owens or sweeney take his place?
  5. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) dam. I just got 12 pick in my 22nd fantasy draft its better than the 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th pick in the draft. having two picks in a row is a pretty big luxury imo... it allows you to develop a cohesive strategy for consecutive picks..
  6. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) I doubt Sweeney will make the team. Much like Owens, they don't want him sitting on the bench. They'd rather he get at bats and continue to develop in the minors. JMO. I agree with this whole-heartedly. If he finishes spring with like 7 homers and a 450 batting average, he might make it interesting. But overall, I don't expect to see him until september
  7. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) I think contributions by Borchard will out do anything Timo Perez ever did. I'd like to see Joe get some work at first base out-do timo perez?! now you're talkin heresy
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Tracey in. Here comes walk, walk walkw alwkalwkalwkawlkalwklawkw.... Is that Fozzie the bear on the play by play?
  9. hmm... seems like our bats are starting to wake up. on an unrelated note, how has podsednik looked so far this spring? Does he have the speed back? I haven't seen him play thus far...
  10. It is becoming his job to lose.... he's having an impressive (though still short) spring so far
  11. He'll get in the hall of fame... even with the roids. I'm not sure I would vote for him. I just hope when he gets in, he's not a first ballot HOFer. With this, he doesn't deserve it
  12. I do find the timing of this a little interesting. Bush has been president for over five years now. Why wait until now? Could it be that this is one element of the republican strategy to bolster its perception in light of the many ethics issues its leaders have found themselves in? Furthermore, any line item bill would have an uproad battle in Congress... especially with a more conservative court (which bush appointed) that would follow the letter of the Constitution to the T. In light of the fact that the line item bill was shot down in 96, it would be probably more effective to amend the constitution. To me, this looks like the republicans want the issue and not the bill. If they get the issue, they can campaign as reformers and claim that they are trying to stomp out corruption and pork in D.C. But they don't want they don't want the bill cause then they actually would cut their nose off despite their face.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) So they've finally accepted the scientific explanation for the origin of the universe and turned against fundamentalism! This is wonderful news! hahaha... gold
  14. Here's a prediction for you: this show will suck....
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 2, 2006 -> 04:44 PM) And they were all rockets. So if this score holds up, we've been outscored 23-4 in two days so far. Maybe we were a fluke. I agree... its time to hit the panic button on this season. All is lost. Looks like its time for a firesale.
  16. 16 on the the second try is almost as embarrasing as 6 on the first try. What do you think is going to happen if some team drafts this guy and, after about a year, he is throwing lots of picks and having trouble picking up defensive reads. Fans will be all over whatever team picks Young for not paying attention to the giant red flag this test throws up. ... then again, he could go to the pro bowl for all I know. But if he struggles, he is going to be cast as one of the dumbest athetes of all time.
  17. I think Uribe has a quicker bat speed than Iguchi.... and I think thats helpful cause he'll see more fastballs when Podsednik is on base. actually, i'm not sure too many guys in the league have quicker bat speed than uribe...
  18. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Also if Capital Punishment is made illegal won't stop it from taking place in the prisons with other inmates killing the worst offenders either. The nuance is that we can only really control government sanctioned actions. I suspect inmates (or even non-inmates) are going to keep killing each other regardless of this country's stance on th edeath penatly
  19. Maybe they will have some sort of Indians alumni game. Put all the guys the Indians previously had in their system but couldn't afford to pay for anymore (or simply squandered away in trades) and have them play a 7 game series against the current squad. here are the former indians I would nominate for the alumni team: Jim Thome Jeff Kent Brian Giles Jeromy Burnitz Manny Ramirez Sean Casey Matt Williams Roberto Alomar Omar Vizquel Richie Sexon Thats a pretty sick lineup... I'd take that one over their current squad anyday. Let me know if I left anyone out
  20. QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) yeah, i know. but the furthest right you are going to get is bill frist, as far as i can tell. compared to how far frist is from moderate compared to how far hillary is from moderate, that is what i base my assumption on. If the GOP wanted a sure-thing winner, they'd go with John McCain. He'd get 70% of the vote... maybe even mine. If he wants to run, and does not get nominated thats all you'll need to know about the republican party. He'd win with ease, and if they pass him up for another conservative, it would be an ominous sign for america.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Seriously. This is non-news. Borchard isn't Babe because of a live BP homer, Broadway isn't a bust because of a live BP homer. yeah i agree with that... maybe my original post was short-sighted
  22. QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) i am not a democrat by any means, and i will be overjoyed if hillary runs. she will lose badly to a moderate republican. you are assuming the repubs will nominate a moderate republican.
  23. QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/from...ent/4747254.stm i agree with this article. i was wondering how this board would react to it. I'm a democrat and I agree completely. If Bush were a Dem, the republicans would have found a way to impeach him three scandals ago. The problem is that no one possess the charisma of the ever-popular Bill Clinton. To the Democrats, he was Michael Jordan... almost impossible to replace. (Obviously most GOPers think differently). Somebody has to step up. I really don't think that person is Hillary... maybe its russ feingold or mark warner or whoever.... I sure hope they figure out who it is before 2008.
  24. This is actually more discouraging news about Lance Broadway than encouraging news about Joe Borchard.
  25. Here is what I think is interesting about this.... If a guy is unhappy in his contract (think a huge star), he will have a much bigger incentive to holdout and demand a larger contract. Without the cap, the player could stand to gain much more. It works the other way too... The Washington Redskins (who are the highest grossing team in the NFL), could resign whoever they felt might be in jeopardy if they face a cap later on. If a team will face cap casualties in 08, they could be renegoiated without punishment in a cap free year. Its all very interesting. Its REALLY REALLY good for guys who will be free agents next year (Lance Briggs). It sorta sucks for the bears cause their favorable cap situation will be squandered
