QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) There is absolutely nothing sexy about Damaso marte. haha...I think you've captured the essence of Timo's mental state at that point and time.

I just thought I'd share this funny pic of Soxtalk's two former favorite whipping boys, Marte and Timo. http://static.flickr.com/53/142894073_04d1d2c2d8_o.jpg

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 25, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) 84%? Isn't ESPN's capacity for USCF still based on the pre-modifications to the UD? Even when we have a sellout the % full number is not near 100%. Couldn't you say that about any team? Hmm...I can think of a few exceptions (Dome teams, Teams playing in a consistently good climate, teams that always draw poorly)

QUOTE(Steff @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) There would have definitely been some blood shed... and fuggettaboouuttt that silly little cup protecting anything. Ouch, remind me not to cross you!

QUOTE(Steff @ May 25, 2006 -> 08:21 AM) Monday night I went to get Destiny who was sitting behind the plate with my sister.. when I brought her over to our section and were waiting for the 3rd out.. some ass walks in front of us and she says "hey... game going on!". He didn't hear her. Turns out he was sitting in the 5th row on the end so when we walk down she spots him and is sure to tell him... "you're not supposed to walk when the game is going on". She's 5. The Look on his face must've been priceless

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 24, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Take this advice from someone who had season tickets in the UD for 12 years. Don't eat. Save your money and buy more BEER!!! This is the credited response...

The 2006 team just did something the 2005 team never did...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 24, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Well, I havn't exactly delved into it but I did compare it to someone with a very similar career ERA, in Roy Halladay. His "run average" is 4.09 compared to his ERA of 3.65 so a .44 difference. I'll try to find the league averages though because that would be the best way to compare. excellent thanks...interesting stat -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 24, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) One interesting thing about Buehrle, his career "run average" is 4.11 compared to his "earned run average" of 3.60. A .51 difference. I'm guessing .51 is way higher than normal, right? -
I Vote BMac but of your choices, I say Thome

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) The Corned Beef sandwich is awesome. Damn!!! You know, I think we have grounds for legal action here. Those fans who can't afford to sit in the lower deck should have the same opportunity to buy corned beef sandwiches as those who do. I'll cite to economic discrimination issues raised by Yankee fans when the bleachers went alcohol free. (That one was dismissed on other grounds...safety). I think we've got ourselves a case!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) Thanks, buddy. Welcome to Soxtalk. I loved your squeeze on Monday night. EDIT: And it's the unearned runs that kill Buehrle, once again. Crazy how many Unearned runs there are when he pitches... Also looks like CG or bust for him vs. Oakland. -
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Dont think there's Corned Beef or Roast Beef either I really miss the Super Taco when I'm upstairs Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right about the beef, which is very upsetting

We skip Halladay again this weekend per rotoworld

QUOTE(kane0730 @ May 24, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) TORONTO -- Roy Halladay was on the mound for Toronto on Tuesday, but when exactly he'd be making his next start was still up in the air until he picked up his sixth win of the season. After the victory over Tampa Bay, Toronto manager John Gibbons said he'd be giving his staff ace an extra day of rest in order to have him pitch the opener of a three-game series against Boston on Monday. The alternative was to have Halladay stick to his usual five-day schedule and pitch the finale of a three-game set against the White Sox on Sunday afternoon. Instead, Gibbons will send rookie Ty Taubenheim to the mound against Chicago to give Halladay the added rest. But we can't hit unknown, rookie pitching. This is a bad break. I'd rather face Halladay... (That is supposed to be green...guess I can't figure it out) -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 23, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) He looked thin to me. Its just that he always seemed so imposing to me especially on TV. Standing next to him, I'm 6'5", he wasn't so imposing. ah, gotcha...well they say the camera makes you look bigger (adds pounds), so I can def see that. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 04:08 PM)

QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ May 23, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Was at the game yesterday, and I didn't know that at every game that a photographer at the cell walks around and takes your pic to put on the Sox websight. ("Fan Forum"....Scroll to "Fan Photos" choose date at which game you were at, and what gallery you are under. In a previous forum, when someone asked to submit photos of fellow Soxtalkers, I never submitted one. Not that it really matters, but "Rooftop Shots" is in May 22 gallery 21, the guy with the sweatshirt of an airbrushed Frank Thomas portrait. Back in Frank's hey-days, I used to have my own part-time airbrush business. Made quite a few Franks and Michael Jordans back then. Anyoner else from Soxtalk on The Sox Websight. If so, what date and gallery are you in? Nice Shirt Rooftop...the airbrushed shirt is cool. You look a little like Bill Simas by the way.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) Full Name: Jeffrey Allan Nelson Height: 6'8" Weight: 225 He's 3 inches taller than Frank but 50 pounds lighter. I am roughly 6'6 215...so he sounds fine to me. Granted I'm not ripped or huge, but it's a decent weight (like a 2 guard in my case or a SF in his).

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) Is your definition of solid "mediocre"? I'm honestly confused. Garland's 2004 rank out of 40 starting pitchers with at least 27 starts: ERA - 27/40 Wins - tied with 6 others for 19/40 WHIP - 19/40 2003: ERA: 27/40 Wins - tied with 5 others for 26/40 WHIP - 28/40 Prior to 2005, about the only thing Jon was consistently good at was giving us innings and getting about 12 wins a year, which is not bad for a 3rd or 4th starter on a middling team. His ERA and WHIP were well below average his entire career up to last year. I'm really not sure how anyone could look at his career numbers and say they've been "solid". Mark Buehrle's had a "solid" career...Garland's had a mediocre career in my opinion. I would call Buehrle's career more than solid. I agree with the guy saying Garland has been "solid." Up until recently, he's been a 4th starter. As you said, he's logged innings and given us the opportunity to win games. He's done this at a cheap rate, too. Now he's making some serious money and the expectations are higher b/c of last year. That is why the numbers now are so upsetting/frustrating.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Blah blah blah. Seriously, come talk to me at the end of the season if this is stil the case. Other pitchers performing badly at this point. R Johnson 5.62 Jump off the cliff all you want, you will look follish when you are trying to climb back up. Exactly...out here in NY, Yankee fans have a valid reason to be ready to jump off the cliff if RJ doesn't turn it around soon considering the shape of the rest of their staff (Only Moose is producing)...

This has certainly become a very one-sided trade in favor of KW!

QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) Garland needs to do a couple of things .... - Use the sinker more because it looks like he's overthrowing and his pitches are flat, and up in the zone. - Pitch inside one heck of a lot more than he's done thus far. I agree, you are dead on. Jon's always been at his best when he's keeping the ball down and/or in. I am not ready to give up on him just yet. Granted, it's been an awful start, but he has the talent to make things work and I'm sure Coop will get him straightened out soon.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 23, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) You can bank on it. Jerry has been a father to Frank since his own passed away. The title is nice, but blood is thicker than water - and while they aren't blood related I don't think they could be any closer if the were. Interesting...well I guess KW and Frank will have to get over their issues eventually...
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 23, 2006 -> 08:04 AM) KW can "pfffttt.. fat chance" all he wants. Kenny eats s*** if the choice is between him and Frank. Jerry will have Frank's back always. Dick Allen won you over...? That says a lot. You really think so? KW, the guy who put together the team that brought the title? I'm not saying I know either way, but I'm not sure about that.
