QUOTE(Soxbadger @ May 22, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) My vote is to stay with the veteran starting staff and let B-Mac stay in the pen like Shields. Only reason I would trade even Garland or Garcia is if the offer was to good to refuse. Yeah, I can definitely see that too. I like having tons of pitching. However, you have to think about salary increases (Crede) and our bullpen. It's a good problem to have I guess

QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) You might want to watch it again before marrying that stance. He didn't move. Ok, I will take your word for it. I caught the last 3 innings in a sports bar in Manhattan and admittedly was a little buzzed

QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Going with him before or after I pointed out that Paul didn't move...? :rolly Well, I thought that Paul at least reached out with his glove. I thought that Uribe's off-line throw was the bigger issue. As Ron Burgundy said, "Agree to Disagree"

QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) You mean Paul f*** up. No way was that a "bad" throw. It was within inches and if Paul had put some effort into going another inch to his right he would have had it and the inning would have been over. I gotta go with Fathom here...That was Juan's bad, not PK's.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 22, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) Great thread idea BTW. I voted for Freddy based on age mostly, but also that we could trade him, and for a nice price as well. Thanks Rock. I agree that I'd rather keep Jon than Freddy past this year. Don't get me wrong, I love Freddy, but I think Jon will bounce back to being a great pitcher (maybe not '05 pre-ASG quality, but very solid). Then again, keeping all 6 and being greedy isn't horrible either.

I'm just curious to see what you guys are thinking beyond this season with regards to our starting rotation. I believe contract status is as follows: MB = Team option for '07 JC = Signed through '08 FG = Signed through '07 JG = Signed through '08 JV = Team control through '08

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 19, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) Uh-uh - the shirt and hat are not tampered with, just covered up lol...I like the way you think. Were I not a mere lowly summer associate at my firm, I'd hire you on the spot!
-
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 19, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) Wear a sox hat/shirt over it. As this poster's legal counsel, I think that would constitute "doctoring" the shirt, although there may be a Court Circuit split on the issue.

QUOTE(Gldfinger5 @ May 19, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Fellow Sox Fans I'm going to to the Sox / Cubs game on sunday with a couple friends of mine who are cub fans. They were two people who bought season tickets just to scalp the World Series tickets. Obviously with them being Cub fans, they were not planning on using the season tickets. They told me I could pick out the games I wanted at no cost with one stipulation: I have to wear a cubs shirt and hat they provide me throughout this sunday's game. I can't doctor the outfit in any way either. Thought about it and decided to go with it, figuring I'd find a way to have fun with it. I picked out several games and now the day I'm dreading is approaching. I wanted to get some ideas/opinions from you guys on how I can turn the table on them. Let me know your ideas. Thanks!! Man, talk about a catch 22!!! Since you can't doctor the clothes, maybe you can bring a sign saying, "Don't shoot me, I'm really a Sox fan who was bribed for Sox Season Tickets" It's going to be painful when your fellow bretheren (Us Sox fans) start yelling at you if you don't make it obvious you're one of them.

QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ May 19, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) I wouldn't exactly call the quarter point of the season "arbitrary". Detroit is not going to finish ahead of the Just had to say, great username

White Sox versus that other team in town

It's times like this that it sucks to be in NYC. To top it off, I work for 3 more hours (until 6 eastern). Yankees-Mets will be a great series this year, but I want to watch us smoke the Flubs... -
I went with DJ and Hector. I'm not a spanish speaker, but I'll take your guys' word on how bad the radio is. (I'm in NYC). I used to love Hawk, but I agree with Tony...he is getting senile and his act is getting old.

QUOTE(ExpatNYC @ May 8, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Every time I think I have a handle on this question I see something that confuses the hell out of me. During the Series last year, I saw tons of Sox gear, even exchanged a handful of "Go Sox!" chants with pedestrians in my Brooklyn neighborhood (and these are people who recognize my 1983 cap). But lately it's been only sporadic sightings, usually on young guys who couldn't possibly be from Chicago. Maybe they're just bowled over by the undeniable awesomeness of our team. By the way: if you don't have MLB Extra Innings, Hooters Times Sq. has thirty-some screens and will happily turn to the game you ask for if the ESPN Zone isn't playing what you want. Wow, good tip dude! Just another good reason to check out that fine establishment...

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) How popular are the white sox in other cities? I see a lot of white sox stuff in the cities I frequent... Libertyville, lake bluff, palos park. White sox hats appear to be very big in orland park too.. Technically those are other cities... to me those are towns...I was going for cities (e.g. NYC, LA, SF, Seattle, Houston) or other states (e.g. IA, WI, MS, MA, etc.) Orland Park isn't very shocking...although I hear there is a big Cub presence out that way, which is annoying.
-
QUOTE(WCSox @ May 8, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) Really? I had no idea that Sox gear was even remotely popular in NYC. I would've thought that the Cubs and Cardinals had us beat by a mile. But you're right about the fashion value, though. Fewer teams have more stylish gear than the Sox. Out here, it's mostly Mariners apparel with the Giants, Dodgers, and (ironically enough) Padres coming in a distant 2-4. Yeah WC, you see some cubs and cardinals, but the WSox have them easily beat this year out in NY. Padres...wow...I didn't know people in SD even wore their stuff.

Hey guys, I'm in NYC and am curious how the popularity of the White Sox is in other areas. Here, I'd say the White Sox rank #3 or #4 in terms of popularity of people wearing our Hats, Jerseys, etc. Part of this is just that people like our logo/colors, part of it is that our gear was popularized back in the 90's hip hop culture, and part of it is bandwagoners "front-running", but I brought this up b/c I see so many more people wearing White Sox stuff out here than I did a year ago. Out in NYC, I'd say it's: 1. Yankees 2. Mets 3. Boston (lots of Boston ppl wind up here) 4. White Sox (though we are a close 4 behind Boston these days). What do you guys see in your areas?

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) I think that's exactly how "kids" these days dress. Never seen something so strange out in the clubs, though I don't pay attention to those kinds of folks. I find it very true that those that have to talk about their pee pee's are packing milimeters versus inches. I would bet high this one and his "crew" are no different. Yikes...glad I don't talk about my pee pee -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Those guys in the second photo? I doubt that I'm cool enough to hang out with them. But I can get a pink shirt and hang out with the fake-ass John Gotti posse, no question. Don't forget a huge tub of hair gel! -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Electric Pink. Remember, these guys are rowdy. They run the place. hilarious! These guys look like they are from Staten Island...not the South Side... this guy is clearly being funny... -
QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 04:02 AM) Im getting my tax return money sometime next week, and I am seriously considering scouts seats. I have seen them on stubhub for $250, which is probably the cheapest. Should I get scouts seats or should I just go to Old Country buffet with my gf and get really good seats? I already have tickets to 13 games all in section 527 and want to spoil my self atleast once this season. What would you do. Thanks, oh and any input on scout seats would be great. Maybe save the money for playoff tickets? Especially if you've never been to a playoff game...there is nothing like it! I've been to 3 or 4 Yankee playoff games and Game 2 of the WS last year. That's my vote.

Good to know...that kid is too good to trade or anything. I look forward to seeing him pitch here for a long time. Go BMac!

QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) somebody's whipped lol...maybe, but he was in a celebratory mood that night and wanted to make sure he was getting some. I like the part about his grandma thinking he's evil. I remember hearing him say in an interview after the profanity-ridden one that he was going to get in trouble for that and it cracked me up b/c he's so mild mannered.
