QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) They've officially run out of hat ideas... Watch yo mouth, that ish is fly son. I'm gonna get the matching throwback...

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) Don't get too down on Cliff Politte. I suspected arm problems and he is now on the D/L albeit a bit late for shoulder problems. We need Cliff and I hope he gets healthy quick. Exactly, like Poppy Hidalgo said, we need to keep Cliff and his family in our prayers and hope he can work through this difficult time...

Sheffield to have surgery; out until at least September
NYSox35 replied to Phuck the Cubs's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 03:25 AM) So they're gonna be without Matsui and Sheffield until atleast September? Makes you feel a little better about our current situation. That cheap Bernie Williams signing looks better and better everyday! -
QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 07:12 AM) The White Sox big 3 continue to lead major league baseball in combined HR and RBIs. It's been a couple weeks since we looked, despite Thome missing the Texas series they are still on top. Note that Ryan Howard has now matched Jim Thome's power numbers. Last night's games not included. Our big 3 is amazing. NYY would be up there too, but injuries to Sheff and Matsui are hurting their overall #'s. Jeter has never been a power guy or RBI machine.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:39 AM) You should of scratched Garland's name and added Lumsden/Broadway.. ugh...probably right, but I am a Garland fan and not quite ready to throw in the towel. Sucks that The White Sox and my other team, the Yankees both missed sweeps last night. I was at the Yankees game...I need to cut myself off b/c Boston has beaten them like last 4 I've seen.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) I think I was pretty clear. Explain

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) I agree that they probably won't threaten much this year. But in the long run (say, in 2 years) they are as frightening as anyone, as 2/5 of their rotation could be flat-out unreal, and they have some of the pieces for the order. Dominant pitching is the hardest thing to find, and it appears they may have that. All imo, of course. So are we in agreement the Sox make it a 3 peat from 05 to 07?

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) Yea...It's such a shame that Kenny can't be an adult on the matter of Frank. Kenny??? You mean Frank?

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) Both Teams are scary to me. The Indian Bullpen is very good, and their hitting is going to wake up sooner or later. The Tigers are just like the SOX of 05 (but theyre getting press), and will only make themselves better next year. I told some Tiger fans last nite, they should be proud of their team and this division, its going to be very competitive for years to come Agreed...but I see us winning it this year and in '07. Then again, I'm not what you'd call impartial

QUOTE(wsox08 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) beat me to it... I take it from Rosemont to Washington then transfer lines. After that I take it to Sox-35th.. It's cheap and easy... Just like how I like my women... I used to live on the SW Side of chicago and would use the red line, but if I was going from downtown, I'd use the green line...it's even better and less crowded.

I say it's a free country and he's allowed to do this. It is somewhat interesting. We all know that the Sox need to keep winning to change this stuff long term.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) I'm not worried about the Twins at all. Their lineup stinks, and two aces and 3 scrubs only works in the playoffs, which they won't even sniff. Boof Bonser is an ace

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) 1.) He never came clean, he said he was sorry but never what for. 2.) HGH still isn't tested for so as far as I'm concerned both he and Sheff are far from clean. You're entitled to your opinion. As a fan, I am obviously biased. It's true they are possibly on HGH, but that is true of many ppl in the league. That's why SS2k5 is right about the need for more rigorous testing.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Would cost a lot. With Guardado not going to be back, Putz is currently Seattle's closer, and has done nothing so far to suggest he won't be in that role for the years ahead. Would probably be more likely to get a Mateo, a guy who's pitching more in middle relief right now. But Putz would be a great guy to have in our pen, no doubt. Unrelated sorry, but can you name all the guys in your sig...I know Gio and Brandon, but not a few of the others. Thanks

Well said, SS

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) With Jason Giambi on that team, they have much bigger problems when it comes to the juice. True, but he came clean and is back to being a great hitter. It's scary to think what this scumbag Grimsley knows or is saying.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) I think you might be onto something there... Strange timing with this announcement and Grimsleys arrest and subsequent revealations. yuck...I hope not. Yankees are my #2 team and I'd hate to see them (or the White Sox for that matter) dragged through the mud.
-
Well, it's getting close to game time. This is my first game thread. Jon, you've looked better recently, keep it going and let's take the division lead back. Rip em!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) Cleveland is the much scarier team of the 2, right now they're still hanging out around .500 waiting to make thier big run. Their pitching is much weaker this year, bullpen included but after last season it's hard to discount the Indians especially with the way that lineup can hit when they're clicking. Well said Kalapse! Yeah, their pitching is somewhat down, I just feel they have more firepower to hang with us over 162 games when compared to Detroit.
-
I have been saying all along that the Indians bother me more than Detroit. My friends out here in NY think I'm insane...but here are a few reasons why: 1. Look at our record vs. Cleveland comapred with detroit 2. Cleveland hasn't gotten hot like last year, whereas Detroit already has had a hot run (doesn't mean they can't have more). 3. This is the big one for me... Det vs. AL's elite... 1-3 vs. NYY (This would've been 0-4 in all likelihood if Mo Rivera wasn't hurt (Farns blew a game). 1-2 vs. Bos 0-5 vs. White Sox (to date). Thoughts?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) There's a reason why his ERA is still over 3, he was giving up a good amount of hits early in the season and just didn't look sharp (numerous 2-3 run outings) he's stopped giving up hits all together now and hasn't allowed a run in his last 9 outings. Agreed, he was getting saves, but he was always giving up a run or two along the way. He's been rock solid as of late.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Tell him to stop by here and say hey, that way he can meet his new fans Good Idea! i'll do that now. Here's what I sent... "Hey Kyle, I just wanted to tell you about a cool site... www.soxtalk.com (Pale Hose Forum) Everyone is excited about the draft and you already have a lot of fans over there. Check it out and we'd love to have you post your thoughts on the draft and your future on the south side. Best wishes"

Chisoxfn (Or anyone), What late round picks do you see having the most upside/best chance to contribute at the big league level? Thanks
-
Added Kyle McCullough as a "friend" on facebook and put this on his wall... "Congratulations Kyle! I'm a lifelong White Sox fan and I look forward to a future rotation of Buerhle, Garland, McCarthy, and YOU. Best Wishes!" Seems like a pretty cool dude.
