  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 03:03 AM) Gary Peters would roll over in his grave if he was dead, but if ya love Ozuna ya love Ozuna. He deserves this spot for ALCS Game 2 alone!
  2. Let's go Sox! My Dad is going tonight in a box w/ work ppl...lucky guy. I'll be tuning in on MLB TV live from NY. Would love to essentially end Detroit's season tonight and roll into the Boston series on a high.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 01:01 AM) To all the people that went to bed...well, Sox win, you lose. Correct! I'm glad I toughed this one out even though I'm out east. Great win! Let's get 'em tomorrow guys.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) Thanks . Now I have it on. Well flipping back and forth between the Sox game. Through 8 . One more inning. No prob. Yep, no hit intact through 8. 96 pitches thrown and 9-1-2 up in the 9th.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) Their top 3 starters (Z, Harden, Dempster) are the best in baseball. However, there's always the possibility of Harden getting hurt. I think the Red Sox match up pretty good against the Cubs. It's the Cubs. They won't be in the WS come October. Book it. Has history taught us nothing?
  6. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) The scary thing is that Sexson's decline makes Konerko's so much scarier. I knew the deal might bite us towards the end when we signed him, but I didn't see the decline being this sharp or this sudden, as I'm sure few of us did. I figured he'd suck maybe the 2nd half of next year and 2010 in a worst case scenario...
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) lackey throwing a no no in fenway through 7 Just 83 pitches and won't have to face Ortiz & Manny if he retires everyone in order (6-7-8 up in 8th)
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) 2008 Cubs > 1927 Yankees
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) Go figure. It's moot. Mets/Phils/Brew Crew will make the series
  10. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) Ok. Tell you what, you take Minnesota and their 4 recent division titles. I think I'll take the White Sox and their 1 recent World Series Title. Yes, they play above their level in the regular season. Yes, they beat us last night. We still have a lead in our division, and they still have to play 24/30 on the road from August 21st to September 21st. If they go .500 over those 30 games, which include 4@oak, 4@tb, and 4@LAA, I will eat a car. If you give me 100:1 odds on the White Sox, please pm me and I'll make you a bet of any size up to $1000. Hell, I'll even make that bet if you give me 10:1 odds. Otherwise, please stop overreacting over exactly ONE second half loss. The best teams in the league every year lose 40% of their games no matter how they play. Great post. Seriously, it was a breath of fresh air.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) If Charlie Manuel was our manager, Paulie would be benched for that. Agreed. Also, who is that in your avatar?
  12. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 05:29 PM) As do I, and I am really starting to doubt Tampa. Same, just goes to show you that you can never count the Yankees out. Just looked at A-Rod's stats and they're even better than I thought. Just 4 off the HR lead having missed 16 games, 1st in SLG, 2nd in OPS
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) I agree. Just looking at the hitters, it would be a race of Hamilton-Q-Bradley-Kinsler-Sizemore, maybe even Morneau. Unless some just has INSANE numbers, which Hamilton could keep up, it should come from a winning team, which leaves Q and Morneau. I expect A-Rod to make a run
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Let me know next time Javy wins a game. Yeah, his bad the offense put up 1 R
  15. QUOTE (robin23 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) Who right not can you say has been pitching well as of late? Danks sans last start Javy was pretty good w/ 10ks last start Chill
  16. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) 9 K's and counting in not quite 6 innings, against the Texas Rangers pitching staff. Bravo gentlemen, bravo... When we get to 10, the fans win a free pizza...
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) Kinsler, imo I think that's right. Year end, I say A-Rod though
  18. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) God tigers will gain a game and we lost a chance to go up 2.5 on twins. stupid sox defense and stupid konerko This one ain't over
  19. I figure at worst, we go 1/3 at Detroit. MN goes 2/3 at Cleveland (MN not a good road team either). We drop a game there, but ideally we're up 2.5 after today. So say we go into MN up 1.5. Matchups: Slowey-MB/Richard Perkins-Richard/MB Hernandez-Floyd Baker-Danks I think we win at least 2 of these. I'll be conservative since we don't play well there and go 2/4.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) what are the odds that the sox will still be in first after the next 7 games? 66%
  21. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) Detroit is simply humiliating the team that took 2 out of 3 from us. We roughed them up the other series we've had against them. I wouldn't worry about that
  22. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) That's a milf. if you mean white tank w/ shades, then you are correct sir
  23. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) Uh, Contreras, Kong, that's 22 million right there. The White Sox aren't among the most efficient spending clubs, but they aren't the worst either. Having a large payroll allows for a greater margin of error, which is why they are in 1st despite the money wasted on Kong and Count. That is alarming though that so many fans want to sign Crede to a long term deal. He's an above average all-around 3B with a history of back problems and will demand every penny this winter. I'm thinking he'll want like a 4-5 year deal at about 8-10 million per. If some team wants that than fine. I"ll take Fields and his 325,000 and spend that other 8-10 million somewhere else. If it's 4 years @ 8 million per for Joe, count me in! That is pretty damn reasonable. He'll give us a much better all around 3B than Fields w/o hurting our budget elsewhere.
  24. Did anyone else come to appreciate Justin Morneau in all of this? I generally have hated the guy since he's a Twin, but he handled his win with class. I actually feel a bit bad for him b/c the ESPN guys were almost ridiculing him for winning. I agree that Hamilton was the show/story of the night, but it's not Morneau's fault that the rules consist of a separate and distinct final round score. I have to hand it to the guy, he was very gracious. Congrats to Morneau. That said,

    Javy

    QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) Well it seems Javy has gotten his stuff together and is quietly becoming a go to guy on this staff...Finally starting to show us all why KW signed him to that 3 yr extension! What are you talking about? KW is a moron and an awful GM. He deserves no credit for anything this team has done in the past, or anything that it will do in the future...
