  1. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) I see your point, but it's frustrating to see us throw away games we should have won. We've done that 5 times in the last week. We should be up by a lot more then just half a game right now. We won the game... In my opinion the two botched plays cancel themselves out. Was Jermaine's HR a Giveaway? Thome's? I guess Curtis' was too then...
  2. Awesome win despite the error by Crede! Pressure is off somewhat for tomorrow, but let's sweep them, take over first, and make a statement! Go Sox
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) I was very worried about Politte coming into the year, as I constantly repeated how he was the luckiest statistical pitcher in baseball. But as you know, I was concerned about almost everyone coming into this season, so I won't pat myself on the back. Classic post
  4. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Alright let's. Are we 2 and 9 against the AL elite? Yes. Doesn't mean we are a bad team per se, just that certain other teams are a little better right now. Face it we're struggling. We're not doing the little things that we did during the stretch where we won 15 of 16. Until we start doing those little things, it's gonna keep going like this no matter who we play. Ok, I'll give you credit...that was good analysis. I thought you were just a Tigers homer.
  5. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Cause our run only tied it, yours gave you the lead. Let's talk about your 2-9, soon to be 2-10 record against the Elite teams in the AL.
  6. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) You guys got really really lucky on that last hit. Gomez should have had it, and if he did it might still be tied. Get a life... You're just about: 1-3 vs. NYY 1-2 vs. Bos 0-5 vs. CWS Goodbye...
  7. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) I too am ready to hop aboard the Sean Tracey Love Train. This can't be anything but a good thing. He can't be any worse than Cliff and maybe just maybe he will suprise alot of people at the ML level. If he does come out getting ahead of hitters this pen just might have fixed itself. When Cliff returns he moves into the mop up role. McCarthy has gotten the Nod for the right handed set up role, Jenks is obviously the closer, Cotts & Thornton have both been really good. ::Turns on Quad City DJs "Come on and Ride It (the Train)":: "come on ride the train, and ride it" Next Stop 35th and Shields GL Sean If you feel like dancing, come on, it's up to you...
  8. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) It doesn't take much to demoralize Detroit. There season is officially over. The imminent sweep by the White Sox will be the final nail in their coffin. I hope they enjoyed it while it lasted. The Sox are getting ready to really hit all cylinders and when they do, no one in the American League is safe. Good thing it's almost Interleague time...
  9. QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:43 AM) ^ It was an emotional part of the game and he pumped his fist a little, I see no problem with it at all. It didn't last long like a zambrano celebration, it was just a quick moment of emotion. When paulie hit the grand slam in game 2, he raised his arms, is that wrong too? I know this isn't directed at my reply, but I was referring to the post game comment, not pumping the fist. I played Div. I Tennis and played Chicago Public League H.S. Basketball, so I know what emotions are about during the course of action and agree w/ you guys there.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Is he supposed to say Konerko is going to hit several more homers off of him? No, he's supposed to say something like... "Yeah, that pitch kind of got away from me. It was a tough spot, but Konerko is a great hitter and he connected with that one. I'm just going to go out there and keep fighting and try and get him next time." Big difference...Also, he's a nobody, not Mariano Rivera. Do you see Mo saying that? Like the line in boiler room... "Act as If"...
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) I don't see anything wrong with what he did. As someone said earlier, that's a tremendous competitive attitude the young man has. "In an April meeting with Zumaya, Konerko took him out of the park for his first homer of the year. After that game, Zumaya said Konerko wouldn't get another one off him this season." There was my problem, not his action after this particular game. To each his own, but I just think it was sort of uncalled for. Whatever, Paulie will keep being an All Star caliber player...fine by me.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) I wish Cliff had that mentality. Agreed, but some kid who has done nothing should not be calling out Konerko, a two time All Star and World Champion. Paulie is never one to showboat or brag about being an All Star, so this irritated me.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) All I can say is WHEW, I'll take it. Great job by B Mac and Bob Jenks. I was really impressed with this Zumaya kid. Great stuff, but kinda Zambrano-ish out there on the hill. I'd like to see Thome or Pauly park one of those 99 mph heaters before the end of this series. In an April meeting with Zumaya, Konerko took him out of the park for his first homer of the year. After that game, Zumaya said Konerko wouldn't get another one off him this season. "Got that one,'' Konerko responded at the time. In the rematch, Zumaya got Konerko to pop out to center field to end the inning, followed by an exuberant fist pump and a couple of stares by the pitcher. "I really wanted to face Konerko because he did get me early in the season,'' Zumaya said. "I was pretty pumped. Whenever a guy gets a good hit off me, I want to face him again. That's my mentality. I want to go after the guy and I want to show him, 'Hey, you beat me once, but I'm going to go after you again.' "It was one of my biggest highs. I got the guy out that I wanted to face.'' Zumaya = Douche
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Well, I just got back from my high school graduation. You might ask what relevance that has to the draft, and I'll tell you Right before we were going to walk in, someone in my class, Ryan Kalish, was drafted by the Red Sox with the 283rd pick (9th round) in the draft. I guess he had been told before that they were going to pick him, and naturally pulled a Red Sox hat out of his pocket. All of the seniors went crazy of course, and lets just say this graduation was rather memorable As a White Sox fan #1 and Yankees #2, I absolutely hate the Red Sox. However, that is a pretty kickass story...I can just imagine the scene. Oh, and congrats on graduation.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Did Omogrosso really hit 10 batters in 41 innings? He figured that since he's a big guy, who'd charge the mound?
  16. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) what about that one hot dog guy on the first level 3rd base side who you can hear in every telecast yell "HOT DOG" in that high pitched shrill Great call Greg...I forgot about him... I love my beer guy...I remember when beer was 4.75, he'd go "Millllllerrrrrrrrrr Liiiighhhhhhttttt...that'll be 19 quartas mack"
  17. QUOTE(jackparkman @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) I go to about 25 games a seson and sit in either sec 111 or 160 and I have seen the same to vendors for alomst 10 years now and was curious if anybody knows who I am talking about. In sec 111 is a guy I have heard other people talk about in this section and everybody knows him as Scottie Pippen. Guy looks exactly like pippen In 160 it it the Lemon Chill guy who is about 60 years old and is one of the scariest people i have ever seen. I'm going with the value pick here... "MILLLLLERRRRRRRRR LIGGGGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT"
  18. QUOTE(chisoxfan14 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) So after the national anthem, he was out right in front of where I was sitting 124 row 11. And he spotted me, and smiledddd! And the whole game, he must of waved like 5 times! Each time, me like dying! Hes sooo nice! Then this guy saw my sign, and hes asking me if I wanted to go see him cuz he knows DJ. Im like you know him!:?? Hes like yea. So we tried to go and he was gonna sign my sign, but nobody had a marker! But he said bye and smiled..and hes sooo gorgeous. I love him! http://www.picturetrail.com/chisoxfan14 What a cool Story! Very cool pics...sounds like an awesome experience. I always liked Jimenez too... glad you had fun.
  19. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) You made me all misty eyed after reading this. I'd offer up the lives of my 3 closest friends if the baseball Gods would reincarnate the 24-year old Big Hurt and bat him third in our line-up. Let me just say I'm glad I'm not one of your 3 closest friends...
  20. The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports Chicago White Sox 1B Paul Konerko will sit to let DH Jim Thome play during interleague play in National League ballparks, where the designated hitter rule won't be of use. "There's no way I'm going to sit this guy," manager Ozzie Guillen said of Thome, who leads the Sox with 20 home runs. "I already talked to Konerko about that, and he's willing to do what I want him to do. That's why I think it's easy to manage this club. Nobody has an ego, and, obviously, when you're playing interleague, you want to be in the lineup."
  21. I am really glad we're not losing AJ or Pods at all. Who cares if AJ was fined...he has the cash
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 26, 2006 -> 09:03 AM) Getting this second hand from another site but p/ the Score Barrett 10 games, Anderson 5 games, Cora 2 games, everyone else fined. YESSSSSSSSS No AJ & Scott...awesome!
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) With appeals it will be weeks. 4 days of reviews is ridiculous as well. Agreed...why should it take this long? It makes no sense
  24. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 25, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) Except for when they play the Sox, I am pulling for Toronto all the way. It would be great if neither NY or BOS made the playoffs. Not happening...as crappy as the Yankees have been so far, they're still better than Toronto. Also, Boston has been w/o Coco Crisp and will improve.
  25. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 25, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) DAMN. I hate to drag the discussion of course, but she alone makes that picture memorable. Couldn't agree with you more Flashizle Tizzle
